    Legal Officer & Service Manager

    Job Description

    • We are looking for a Legal Officer/Service manager to provide expert legal services, oversee legal aspects of our diverse industries and handle managerial responsibilities.

    Legal Responsibilities

    • Draft, review, and negotiate various MOUs, Contracts, nondisclosures and tender documents.
    • Handle statutory filings, and regulatory submissions and liaise with the Accounts department on tax compliance requirements.
    • Ensure activities and transactions of organizations in the Consortium comply with corporate laws and regulations.
    • Provide accurate, timely and high-quality legal advice to the Management of Intersect Consortium and Companies within the consortium on a full range of legal and challenging operational issues.
    • Review all contracts or any other documentation to which the company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the attention of senior management.
    • Instil and foster a culture of legal compliance & risk management best practices across the consortium.
    • Advocate for Ethics and Compliance across all levels and build relationships with external legal advisors/counsels within the space.
    • Identify, manage and mitigate legal risks by presenting clear recommendations and developing and implementing company policies and procedures.
    • Fully understand the Nigeria National Mental Health Act and ensure organizations in the group are fully compliant with all provisions that apply to it.
    • Stay abreast with changes to legislation (laws & regulations) that directly affect our businesses and specific industry, interpret, evaluate their impact, and develop Intersect’s positions on such changes.
    • Providing legal advice and guidance on a wide array of matters including privacy, medical staff issues, HIPAA, Data Protection, claims/litigation management as well as hospital operations issues such as informed consent and corporate governance.
    • Handle matters such as patents, copyright, trademark law, licensing, distribution, and trade secret projects.
    • Where needed, work with outside counsel and other external resources on ongoing cases and or for quality work product, value, and efficiency.
    • Preserve and store all corporate records, agreements, legal documents and case folders.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by MD/CEO.

    Service Development:

    • Ensure all committees hold meetings as when scheduled. Receive copies of minutes from committee secretaries and file (soft copies). Flag up action points needed for attention to the MD.
    • Head the Corporate Unit to ensure that the Consortium and Organizations in the consortium have a strong corporate outlook.
    • Work with relevant stakeholders in developing and implementing a Vision, Mission, Strategic Objectives and operational direction for each Organization in the consortium.
    • Works towards the achievement of the Organization's strategic objectives, working to balance short-term results with long-term sustainability.
    • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of corporate affairs which includes defining strategic communications and aligning external communications across the business.
    • Contribute to establishing clear and consistent management practices across Intersect Consortium to ensure an effective and cohesive management team.
    • Fully understand the internal processes of all clinical and non-clinical departments.
    • Monitor deliverables by all Departmental leads that report to the office of the MD/CEO.
    • Ensure that relevant reports from departments are sent to the MD’s Office on time.
    • Hold regular meetings with departmental heads who report to the office of the MD/CEO.
    • Ensure changes to timelines for departmental deliverables are properly communicated.Work with relevant stakeholders in developing and implementing a Vision, Mission, Strategic Objectives and operational direction for each Organization in the consortium.
    • Works towards the achievement of the Organization's strategic objectives, working to balance short-term results with long-term sustainability.

    • Provide a bridge for smooth communication between the MD/CEO’s Office and internal departments.
    • Send Monthly reminders of specific activities, communication from the desk of the MD on various matters, and organizational updates to relevant staff / Organizations

    Qualification & Experience

    • A First Degree in Law. LL.M, or other Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years post-graduation experience in healthcare and business law.
    • Previous managerial and leadership experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of the constitution, legal terminology, regulations and Nigerian court system
    • Experience in a fast-paced, large non-profit or public or private sector organization supporting an executive-level individual or team.
    • Good policy development and management capabilities.
    • Ability to communicate legal topics, issues and risks in terms that non-legal team members can understand.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Significant Project Management experience on behalf of senior executives.
    • Superior research, analytical, planning, organizational skills, and detail orientation.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, and competing priorities while adhering to deadlines.
    • Able to communicate effectively and with exceptional writing.
    • Ability to work independently, exercise mature professional judgment, and use discretion.
    • Comfortable in a team-oriented environment based on open, transparent, continual Communication, information sharing and inclusive decision-making.
    • Must demonstrate utmost integrity; respect for confidential information.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
    • Ability to act as a resource for other staff.

    Senior Accountant

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for day to day finance and accounts operations of Synapse Services, Reconnect HDI and Psych Pharmacy.
    • Provide managerial and oversight for all accounting functions
    • Provide accurate, timely periodic financial statements of Synapse Services, Reconnect HDI and Psych Pharmacy Services to management
    • Provide direction to all accounting staff under your supervision.
    • Provide oversight of assets and finances of Synapse Services, Reconnect HDI and Psych Pharmacy
    • Manages overall responsibility for accounting related information from Synapse Service, Reconnect HDI and Psych Pharmacy
    • Oversight include monitoring purchases compared to the budget, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and capital expenditures/equipment.
    • Reconciliation of all cash accounts and monitoring of cash receipts and disbursements.
    • Evaluate performance and professional development of staff.
    • Assist in the management of the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of Synapse Services, Reconnect HDI and Psych Pharmacy
    • Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
    • Handle full spectrum of financial and cost accounting role e.g. AR, AP, GL, forecasting, budgeting etc.
    • Supervises end-of-period processes and supports the analysis of the periodical business performance, budgets, and forecasts.
    • Management and coordination of activities relating to Vendors/Procurement.
    • Responsible for timely monthly, separate and consolidated financial statements, payments, cash-flow management reporting for submission to management
    • Establish and maintain systems for cost-sensitivity analysis and early-warning of cost-overruns.
    • Work consultatively with the respective departments on cost reduction initiatives
    • Review & approve payment vouchers & journal entries.
    • Perform cash flow forecasting, budgeting and working closely with the operations and project teams in analyzing margins, variances and cost analysis.
    • Overseeing the Maintenance and reconciliation of Goods Receipts/ Invoice Receipt Account.
    • Create and enhance financial policies and procedures across the accounting department as well as the wider Finance department.
    • Ensures consistency in procedures and policies across the accounting department and that these policies are appropriately set for the achievement of the business’s overall goals and objectives.
    • Leads compliance with the business’s internal corporate framework policies and finance manuals.
    • Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
    • Monthly evaluating of Unapplied Advance Payment to determine the risk level.
    • Monitors expenditures, analyze revenues and determine budget variances
    • Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries.
    • Develops reports on all accounting related matters inclusive of taxation matters. These reports accompany pro-active advice and recommendations on the business’s financial approaches from an accounting and taxation perspective.
    • Formulate and oversee the implementation of the company’s accounting policies
    • Ensure completeness and accuracy of the company’s records (e.g. Clients, Suppliers, Banks, Employees, Management, Government and its relevant agencies etc.)
    • Perform any other duty assigned by the Medical Director

    Education, Experience & Skills

    • Minimum of M.Sc in Accounting
    • First Degree must be in Accounting
    • Certified member of ICAN/ACCA
    • Minimum of 4- 5 years’ core experience in accounting/management account
    • Excellent strategic planning skills
    • Ability to work independently and highly meticulous.
    • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Knowledge of Oracle Financials or any other financial software.
