    Lead, Data Engineer

    About the job

    • To build reliable data integration solutions, clean, transform, and analyze vast amounts of big data from various systems using Spark and other ETL tools to provide ready-to-use dataset to data scientists and data analysts, while ensuring data quality and integrity.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable and efficient data solutions that enable informed decision-making, and compliance with data governance.

    Responsibilities
    Data Ingestion and Extraction:

    • Develop and implement efficient data ingestion pipelines to acquire and extract large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
    • Ensure data integrity and quality during the ingestion process.
    • Integrate various data sources and formats into a unified data ecosystem.

    Data Processing and Transformation:

    • Design and execute data processing workflows to clean, transform, and enrich raw data.
    • Develop scalable data processing algorithms and techniques to handle big data volumes efficiently.
    • Optimize data processing pipelines for performance and reliability.

    Data Storage and Management:

    • Create and maintain data storage architectures that cater to the specific needs of big data applications.
    • Implement robust data management strategies, including data partitioning, indexing, and compression techniques.
    • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.

    Data Analysis and Modeling:

    • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their requirements and translate them into scalable data models.
    • Apply data visualization techniques to communicate insights effectively.

    Performance Optimization;

    • Identify and implement strategies to enhance the performance and efficiency of big data applications and systems.
    • Conduct performance tuning, load testing, and capacity planning to meet scalability and throughput requirements.
    • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to data processing, storage, and retrieval.

    Data Governance and Compliance:

    • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with data regulations such as GDPR or HIPAA by implementing appropriate data protection measures.
    • Conduct data audits and implement data quality controls to maintain data accuracy and consistency.

    Collaboration and Communication;

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to understand their data requirements and provide technical support.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
    • Participate in knowledge-sharing activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering practices.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    • Document data engineering processes, workflows, and system architectures for future reference and knowledge transfer.
    • Prepare technical documentation, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and system specifications.
    • Create and maintain documentation related to data governance, compliance, and security protocols.

    Requirements
    General Education

    • BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • Evidence of strong industry or sector participation and possession of relevant professional certifications such as:

    General Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years’ experience developing, deploying, and managing robust ETL/ELT data solutions, preferably within a reputable Financial Institution or FinTech company.
    • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, integrating multiple data sources, and ensuring end-to-end data quality and performance.
    • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams (Data Scientists, Engineers, and Analysts) to deliver high-impact, data-driven insights and systems.

    Data Scientist

    Job Purpose

    • We are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to work on big data and data science projects that gather and integrate large volumes of data, perform analysis, interpret results and patterns and develop actionable insights and recommendations to inform decision making and enhance Interswitch’s products and platforms.
    • To act as a strategic thought partner for cross-functional teams to both generate and evaluate the viability and impact of new data models and initiatives.

    Responsibilities
    Data Architecture:

    • Consult and educate stakeholders on methods for streamlining and standardising data recording to ensure quality and accuracy.
    • Build and maintain Interswitch’s data warehouse to support reporting, analysis, dimensional modelling, and data development for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Empower key stakeholders to access reliable, clean business data by emphasising quality and best practices.
    • Identify and implement improvements to Interswitch’s data pipeline, such as better documentation, anomaly detection, alerting, and instrumentation.

    Performance Improvement through Business Intelligence:

    • Support creation of machine learning algorithms by applying standard statistical analysis or data preparation methods.
    • Analyse Interswitch’s payment processing funnels, identify areas of improvement, and brainstorm ways to enhance user experience, conversion, and profitability.

    Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Collate and analyse data using pre-set tools, methods, and formats.
    • Work cross-functionally to convert business needs into data science solutions and innovative products aligned with Interswitch’s strategy.
    • Perform deep-dive data science and analysis to understand product and platform performance, customer behaviours, and identify growth opportunities.

    Benchmarking and Identifying Opportunities:

    • Conduct industry benchmarking to identify improvement opportunities, data science, AI, and ML trends.
    • Implement best practices to optimise revenue growth and brand preference.

    Internal Communications;

    • Help teams maximise internal communication systems by offering support and advice.
    • Serve as an advocate for data-driven product design, sharing insights on what is working and what is not.
    • Act as a mentor and coach to team members while fostering an environment of mutual respect and trust.

    Information and Business Advice:

    • Resolve complex queries from internal or external stakeholders by providing information on processes, policies, and analysis.
    • Assist in building and prototyping analysis pipelines, including analytics algorithms, predictive models, acquisition and lifecycle analysis, customer segmentation, marketing attribution, and forecasting.
    • Interface with business functions to share actionable insights from multiple data sources, guiding decision-making to improve products and platforms.

    Requirements

    • University First Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or related fields.
    • Minimum of 5 years in analytical roles, ideally within financial or fintech institutions.
    • At least 3 years of experience in data science to enable independent handling of complex situations and guidance to others.

    Product Designer

    Job Purpose

    • To conduct user research, such as interviews and surveys, and use that information to create visual representations such as sitemaps, user flows, and customer journey maps, as well as design elements such as wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
    • Additionally, to create a positive user experience by designing the overall functionality of the product or service and iterating upon it using user-centred design thinking principles.

    Responsibilities

    • Conducting user research to understand the needs and pain points of users and using this information to inform the design of new products and services.
    • Creating low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes to test and iterate on new product concepts, in collaboration with other members of the lab team.
    • Conducting user testing to validate product concepts and ensure that they meet the needs and expectations of users.
    • Collaborating with other members of the team, including engineers, product managers, and business strategists, to ensure that UX design is integrated throughout the product development process.
    • Developing a design strategy that aligns with the overall goals and objectives and ensures that the user experience is at the forefront of all product development activities.
    • Providing leadership and guidance to other UX designers, mentoring and coaching them to develop their skills and capabilities.
    • Staying up to date with the latest design trends and technologies, and actively contributing to innovation efforts by proposing new ideas and approaches to improve the user experience of products and services.

    Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science or related field of study from an accredited University.

    Experience:

    • At least 4 years’ experience in User Experience Design.
    • Development and execution of Product Experiences to achieve Problem-Solution-fit.
    • 2 years’ experience in Design Thinking Practices.
