    Senior Community Health Extension Worker

    SCHEW VACANCY                                                                                                                                      

    The Senior Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) is a member of the health team for Primary Health Care (PHC). The Senior Community Health Extension Worker will spend 90% of his/her time in the clinic outskirt community in JERE. He or she has the responsibility of supervising the Junior Community Health Extension Workers (JCHEW)

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Diploma in Community Health with certificate and license form CHPRBN
    • Able to communicate and work well with people in the community.
    • Able to guide, supervise and give good leadership to his subordinates.
    • Willing work in the outskirt communities.
    • Matured, approachable, friendly and honest.
    • Able to work independently when necessary.
    • Fluency in ENGLISH, KANURI and HAUSA

    DURATION OF WORK

    3 months with possibility of extension.

    FUNCTIONS

    • Treatment of common medical conditions and injuries according to CHPRBN SCHEW standing orders or protocol.
    • Maternal and child health, including reproductive health, e.g. provision of antenatal care and delivery of normal pregnancy, postnatal care and specified reproductive health services.
    • Managing logistics and cold chain system, carrying out of equipment sterilization according to established protocol.
    • Performing simple laboratory tests and examination e.g. hemoglobin estimation, stool and urine testing etc.
    • Provide leadership and supervision to a team of Community Health Extension Workers, ensuring they deliver high-quality healthcare services within the community.
    • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of health programs and interventions in line with the objectives and guidelines of the medical intervention program.
    • Plan and organize community health outreach activities, including health education sessions, immunization campaigns, and screening programs.
    • Train and mentor Community Health Extension Workers on clinical skills, health promotion, and disease prevention strategies.
    • Ensure the availability and proper use of medical equipment, supplies, and pharmaceuticals by conducting regular inventory checks and monitoring stock levels.
    • Collaborate with local community leaders, stakeholders, and organizations to foster partnerships and promote community engagement in health initiatives.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of Community Health Extension Workers, providing feedback, guidance, and support to enhance their skills and competencies.
    • Collect and analyze data on health indicators, disease patterns, and health outcomes to inform program planning, decision-making, and reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with national health policies, guidelines, and protocols in the delivery of healthcare services.
    • Conduct regular monitoring and supervision visits to health facilities and communities to assess the quality of care and address any issues or challenges.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of health education materials, tools, and resources tailored to the needs and cultural context of the community.
    • Participate in coordination meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge, share best practices, and contribute to program improvement.
    • Stay updated on emerging trends, research findings, and best practices in community health and healthcare delivery, incorporating relevant knowledge into program activities.
    • Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of work, ensuring confidentiality, privacy, and respect for the rights and dignity of individuals and communities.

    Junior Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) 

    JCHEW VACANCY

    The Junior Community Health Extension Worker (JCHEW) is a member of the health team for Primary Health Care (PHC).

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Certificate of Junior Community Health extension work, with certificate and license form CHPRBN

    • Able to work independently when necessary.
    • Fluency in ENGLISH, KANURI and HAUSA

    DURATION OF WORK

    3 months with possibility of extension.

    FUNCTIONS

    • Provide basic healthcare services to community members, under the supervision and guidance of Senior Community Health Extension Worker.
    • Conduct health assessments and screenings, including vital signs measurement, basic medical history taking, and health education.
    • Assist in the implementation of community health programs, including vaccination campaigns, child health initiatives, and disease prevention activities.
    • Conduct home visits and community outreach to educate and raise awareness about health issues, promoting healthy behaviors and practices.
    • Administer basic treatments and medications as directed by Senior Community Health Extension Worker, following established protocols and guidelines.
    • Support in the management and maintenance of medical records and documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare team members, such as nurses, doctors, and community health workers, in providing comprehensive healthcare services.
    • Participate in training and capacity-building activities to enhance knowledge and skills in community health promotion and primary healthcare.
    • Monitor and report on community health indicators and trends, contributing to the assessment and evaluation of program effectiveness.
    • Assist in the organization and coordination of health education sessions, workshops, and community events.
    • Conduct health counseling and provide guidance on preventive measures, disease management, and healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Support in the identification and referral of cases requiring specialized healthcare services or further medical attention.

    Medical Records Assistant

    The Medical Record Assistant will assist the CHEW in collecting medical data and will spend 90% of his/her time in the clinic outskirt community in JERE.

    • Diploma in Health Records Management (NDHRM)
    • Able to communicate and work well with people in the community.
    • Able to guide, supervise and give good leadership to his subordinates.
    • Willing work in the outskirt communities.
    • Matured, approachable, friendly and honest.
    • Able to work independently when necessary.
    • Fluency in ENGLISH, KANURI and HAUSA

    FUNCTIONS

    • Collect and record accurate and comprehensive medical data and information from patients, healthcare professionals, and other sources, following established protocols and guidelines.
    • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, test results, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans.
    • Organize and maintain medical records in a systematic and confidential manner, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
    • Enter and update patient information in electronic health record systems or other designated databases, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
    • Assist healthcare professionals in retrieving and interpreting medical records, providing necessary information for patient care and decision-making.
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatments, and procedures.
    • Verify and validate medical information for accuracy and completeness, resolving any discrepancies or inconsistencies.
    • Compile and prepare reports, summaries, and statistical data based on medical records and data collected, as required.
    • Assist in the coordination of scheduling and appointment management, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
    • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, sharing relevant information and participating in team meetings and discussions.
    • Follow standard operating procedures and quality control measures in recording and documentation processes.
