About the Role

HRLeverage Africa is recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable Audit and Tax Consulting Firm, for the position of Account Officer.

The successful candidate will support the firm\'s accounting and financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with reconciliations, and supporting the preparation of financial reports and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and maintain accurate financial transactions and accounting records.
• Assist with the preparation of invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, and other financial documents.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable activities.
• Support the preparation of periodic financial reports and schedules.
• Assist in monitoring client accounts and following up on outstanding payments where required.
• Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
• Provide support during audit and tax engagements by preparing relevant financial documents and schedules.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

• OND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in an accounting or audit environment is an added advantage.

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Practice & Technical Support Manager – Tax Practice to lead the technical and operational management of the firm\'s Tax Practice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of tax engagements, providing technical guidance, managing client relationships, supporting team performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the growth of the Tax Practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tax computations, advisory work, and compliance assignments covering CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other applicable taxes.
• Provide technical guidance on Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and tax authority directives.
• Manage client engagements from onboarding through completion, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Review engagement files, tax opinions, reports, and client submissions for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate tax audits, investigations, queries, objections, and correspondence with relevant tax authorities.
• Monitor team workload, performance, utilisation, and professional development.
• Identify technical and operational risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain engagement trackers, tax dispute trackers, and other practice management records.
• Support business development through client meetings, proposals, presentations, and identification of additional tax opportunities.
• Prepare monthly reports covering WIP, engagements, outstanding deliverables, tax issues, staff utilisation, client complaints, and business development activities.
• Coach, mentor, and develop tax staff through training and technical reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s Degree or HND in Accounting or a related field.
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) is mandatory.
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years\' relevant tax experience, preferably within a tax advisory, accounting, or consulting firm.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and tax compliance requirements.
• Proven experience handling tax audits, investigations, and engagements with tax authorities.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and client-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
