Job Description

• We are now looking for an Assistant Operations Shift Supervisor to join our team at Ewekoro Plant, Nigeria
• The Successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager.

What will you be doing?

• Operate and maintain the plant during the shift according to company policies, procedures and operation profile/plan.
• Follow all procedures and instructions related to start-up, shut-down and normal operations of the power plant systems.
• Maintain all operation records (including logs, check lists and running records) according to guidelines.
• Assist in taking corrective action during system operational disturbance.
• Effectively communicate the condition of all plant equipment, any deviation/ disturbance from the normal conditions and other performances to shift supervisor in charge and shift team.
• Watch over of all alarms / parameters of engines and auxiliaries, monitor and analyse the trend data always related to the equipment and perform proper follow up.
• Co-ordinate the work of subordinates and communicate with the grid control center and plant management about the loading of the plant.
• Comply with all safety regulations (including isolation, lock out and tag out) and perform emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety devices.
• Utilize all the tools, equipment, and accessories in such a manner that the operating life is maximized.
• Provide for the relieving shift operator a complete handover, bringing to his/her attention any operational disturbance, malfunctions, or abnormalities.
• Ensure that the work is executed at the plant according to Wartsila Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.
• Prioritize and assign tasks so that assigned team resources are used effectively and targets are met.
• Prepare accurate and timely reports of all plant operational parameters and data, and share with stakeholders.
• Required daily analysis of engine performance and areas of improvement and to carry out routine and preventive maintenance of W50 DF engine as per the OEM recommendation.
• Ensure Operational Reliability and Availability of the plant according to the contract.
• Prioritize and assign tasks so that assigned team resources are used effectively and targets are met.

Requirements
You will shine in this role when you have:

• HND / B.Eng. / BTech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or any related Engineering discipline
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience and operations experience of Wartsila engines.
• Strong Management & leadership skills
• Perform all activities needed to reach the objectives of the position and comply with the orders, instructions, values, and company policies applicable as employee and/or the position.
• Understanding of Wärtsilä business, quality, and workplace safety is a plus.

Responsibilities
What will you be doing?

• Carrying out Wärtsilä's obligations in the service agreement in accordance with the service agreement, the Wärtsilä Energy Agreement Management process and general management practices in a safe and cost-effective way in order to ensure quality of work
• Monitoring that customer complies with its obligations in the service agreement and conduct customer communication
• Prioritising actions that lead or contributes to increased customer satisfaction
• Continuously exploring ways to create more value for customer and customers business
• Leading continuous performance improvement plan and related business case for enhanced reliability and efficiency of the plant (upselling)
• Develop understanding for own organization what is required to ensure renewals of contracts  (renewal)
• Ensure that competence assessments and development plans are conducted (internal and external)
• Planning, budgeting and managing result for the work under the service agreement
• Optimising assets such as inventories, receivables, fixed assets etc tied to the service agreement
• Communicating with relevant internal and external stakeholders as per Agreement Management-, Agreement Sales-, Service Projects Sales-, Parts, Field Service and Package Sales Procedures
• Managing disputes arising with the customer under the agreement, including leading the internal team involved in supporting the dispute resolution
• Monitoring Wärtsilä's compliance with laws during the execution of the service agreement, including trade sanctions
• Monitor receivables situation, investigate reason for non-payment, make action plan and involve internal stakeholders as required in order to ensure payment in time by the customers
• Develop the working routines at the plant in accordance with Agreement Management processes.

Requirements
You will shine in this role when you have:

• Ability to speak French is a MUST
• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and/or Sales or equivalent experience.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Sales / Contract Management in a demanding leadership environment
• Rigorous understanding of Energy business and the ability to translate that to tangible actions to capture growth potential in our sales and operations.
• Uncompromised customer service mindset and willingness to go the extra mile for our customers
• Deep knowledge of services organization and way of working, strong knowledge of our lifecycle solutions portfolio and expertise provided through our Contract Management function and coordination between the stakeholders
• Inspirational change leader with the ability to engage and promote others to take action
• Strong influencing skills combined with a large internal network.
