    WatSan Team Leader

    Mission / Objectives

    • Under the direct supervision of the WASH Activity Manager, the WatSan Team Leader Will be responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and management of all WatSan-related activities in Monguno.
    • This includes conducting needs assessments, overseeing activity implementation, monitoring progress, and evaluating the impact of the project.
    • The WatSan Team Leader will ensure that all interventions are effectively carried out in accordance with project objectives, while adhering to Solidarités International’s standards and guidelines.

    List of main tasks
    Setting up the activities /control and supervision:

    • Plan the weekly activities for his/her team and have them approved by his/her Line Manager:
    • Plan human resources need (daily workers and contractors).
    • plan tool and material needs (request from stock).
    • anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance).
    • Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means).
    • Organize and carry out, with his/her team, tasks assigned by his/her Line Manager.
    • Supervise and monitor each stage of activity. Ensure that standards and instructions given by his/her Line Manager, as well as Solidarités procedures, are followed.
    • Respect schedules and deadlines agreed upon with his/her Line Manager.
    • Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the activities and suggest operational solutions.

    Logistics and Administration:

    • When recruiting daily workers, follow procedures and directives outlined by his/her Line manager and the administrative service.
    • Train his/her team members to use and maintain the available tools correctly.
    • Track usage with monitoring tools provided.
    • Enforce safety procedures.
    • Ensure that safety procedures are followed by members of his/her team.
    • Monitor the quality and quantity of material delivered to working site.
    • Ensure the receipt and storage of material and equipment necessary for his/her work to be carried out on site.

    Reporting/communication:

    • Take part in weekly program meetings and clusters on request.
    • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to his/her line manager.
    • Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to his/her line manager.
    • Take part in the drafting of the monthly program pack.
    • Establish and maintain good relations with local participants and communities (populations) in the operational fields.
    • Listen to the populations and local participants in the field and report to his/her line manager any non-technical or safety-related issues which could affect the activities or safety of Solidarités International teams.

    Profile Forsaken

    • Studies: B.Sc./HND in Engineering-civil, water, sanitation, hydrogeology or related fields.
    • Experience: 2 years relevant experience in similar role, experience in deep borehole drilling, shelter construction and development will be highly appreciated.
    • IT Skills: Good knowledge of office software; word, excel, outlook, design, AutoCAD, data collection and analysis software is a plus.
    • Project Related Skills: Good knowledge of Project Cycle, Project implementation, Project Follow UP and reporting.
    • Personal Qualities: candidate should be reliable, honest, accountable, resistant to stress and good in prioritization of tasks.
    • Languages: English (knowledge of local dialect is an added advantage).

    MEAL Coordinator

    Mission

    • The MEAL Coordinator will directly supervise the coordination MEAL team with technical management of the MEAL Activity Managers in NE&NW.
    • Under the direct management of the Deputy Country Director - Programs, She/he will closely work with other departments both in Coordination, Northeast, and Northwest

    Responsibilities
    Strategy and Planning:

    • Contributes to the development of a multi-year strategy and its annual review, aligned with that of the association and withidentifiedhumanitarian issues, ensuring that lessons learned and recommendations from previous years aretaken into account.
    • Coordinates withMEALteams at the grassroots level to carry out self-assessments ofMEALsystems in the country office and translates the results into key actions
    • Supports the operationalisation of theMEALaction plan in line with the strategic and programmatic priorities of the country office
    • Contributes todeterminingthe resourcesrequiredforMEALactivities with the bases and departments concerned
    • Proposes research topics in coordination with technical coordinators and/orheadquarters.

    Development and Reporting: 

    • With the support of the department in charge of grants and partnerships:
    • Consolidates,validatesand ensures the relevance,qualityand consistency ofMEALapproaches to project proposals, and the sizing of the resources needed to implementMEALactivities
    • Reviews and finalises the relevant sections of project proposals,reportsand requests for changes

    Programme Monitoring and Quality:

    • Ensures the technical compliance ofMEALapproaches and tools with national,internationaland humanitarian sectoral requirements, and with internal requirements where they exist, and supportsMEALteams in meeting these requirements
    • Ensures compliance with programme data management processes,in accordance withthe responsible data cycle
    • Ensures the relevance,qualityand consistency ofMEALactivities,bysystematicallyconsideringcross-cutting issues (cross-cutting protection, gender, etc.) during all phases of the project cycle
    • Supports and supervises data collection intheirdepartmentin accordance withprojectMEALplans, and its use to makeappropriate operationaldecisions that meet contractual commitments to donors
    • Validates the relevance of reports, analyses,mapsand recommendations produced by theMEALdepartment
    • Supports programme teams inthe consideration ofthe principles of accountability and responsible management of programme data in the implementation of their activities
    • Provides technical support toMEALand programme teams in themethodologyfor collecting,measuringandmonitoringindicators
    • In collaboration with sector coordinators, contributes to the production of a comprehensive analysis of project results and proposes adjustments
    • Supports Field Coordinators inmonitoringthe implementation deadlines for allMEALactivities.
    • Conducts regular field visits.

    Accountability:

    • Ensures the operationalisation of accountability principles and develops the associated processes and tools
    • Develops the country office's complaint management mechanism procedure
    • Ensures the implementation of a confidential,functionalandappropriate complaintmanagement and feedback mechanism.
    • Monitors andvalidatesthe various outputs related to accountability, develops analyses and makes recommendations.

    Evaluation and Learning:

    • In conjunction with sectorcoordinatorsand according to the needs in terms of demonstrations in the country office, plans and frames learning exercises (including evaluations, studies/researchand capitalisation)
    • Supports sectorcoordinatorsin organising workshops to capitalise on lessons learned.
    • Ensures that lessons learned from these workshops are formalised, archived anddisseminatedto facilitate their integration into projects.
    • Coordinates internal or external evaluation exercises with the relevant departments.
    • Supports the process of following up on recommendations (internal and external) from programme teams and works on priority action plans with sector coordinators.

    Technical Compliance and Accountability:

    • DeploysMEALand internal programmatic frameworks and procedures across the entire SI response.
    • Ensures that project resources and tools are up to date and used correctly and that internal compliance processes are applied.
    • Contributes to the identification and monitoring of compliance breaches and risks.
    • Proposes and supports the implementation of corrective measures by the bases.

    Capitalisation and Capacity Strengthening:

    • Develops and implements sectoral and programmatic training plans.
    • Ensures thatSIcapitalisation tools are used anddisseminatedbyMEALteams.
    • Ensures that capitalisation achieved in its sector is shared with headquarters where relevant.  
    • Oversees the centralisation and accessibility of procedures,guidesand tools specific to the country office.  
    • Works closely with headquarters teams to oversee the improvement of existing tools.   

    Coordination and Communication:

    • Activelyparticipateswiththeirteams in technical coordination platforms and initiatives.Theymay sometimes take on the role of facilitator or co-facilitator of platforms or working groups.   
    • Leads regular internal coordination ofMEALbase and coordination teams (community of practice).
    • Develops regular internal coordination with Field Coordinators on programmatic and technical issues.    
    • Facilitates the harmonisation of technical,programmaticand operational considerations, in close collaboration with Field Coordinators.   
    • Ensures the smooth flow of programmatic and technical information across all bases and the country.   
    • Acts as an interface with technical advisors at headquarters.  
    • Writes and shares their handover report before the end of their employment contract.

    Management:

    • Responsible for the effective implementation of HR policies and processes to ensure that the number of staff and the sum of knowledgerequiredfor the activities for whichtheyareresponsible are available: 
    • Analyses,quantifiesand qualifies the human resource needs oftheirteam. 
    • Recruits and ensures the integration of the team for whichtheyareresponsible. 
    • Evaluates the performance oftheirteam members.

    Internal Control:

    • Responsible for implementing recommendations within their area of responsibility

    • Responsible for filing and archiving documents producedin accordance withinternal procedures.
    • Ensures that archiving is implemented within their department.

    Fight Against Abuse:

    • Creates and actively collaborates in the implementation of a working environment that prevents inappropriate behaviour.
    • Participates in communicating the existence of SI's ethical framework.
    • Respectsat all timesthe protection of information exchanged in the context of a report and its processing.
    • Implements measures to mitigate the risk of abuse.

    Partnerships:

    • May contribute, in line with their role and responsibilities, to the verification of SI implementation partners.
    • May contribute to the implementation of a plan to support and strengthen SI partners
    • May participatein the requirements formonitoringthe actions of partners in relation to their job and responsibilities

    Profile Forsaken

    • Education: Bachelor, Master’s or equivalent in Statistic, Quality Control or humanitarian project management
    • Professional experience: 3 - 4 years of relevant experience (NGO/Private or Public sector) and 3-4 years of progressive experience in an INGO
    • Languages: Fluency in English compulsory - written & spoken (Hausa – Added Advantage)

    Technical Skills:

    • Experience in MEAL management (minimum 3 years)
    • Experience in communication with communities and accountability mechanisms.
    • Knowledge of data collection, sampling, mobile data collection (Kobo, Power-BI) and data analysis
    • Experience in management of budgets and ability to prepare timely, complete and accurate reports

    Transversal Skill1s:

    • Problem solving and analytical skills with ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions.
    • Good knowledge of the humanitarian project cycle management; the MEAL and FCRM challenges in humanitarian sector.
    • Good knowledge of Humanitarian sector in Nigeria.

    Hygiene Promotion Officer

    Mission / Objectives

    • Under the direct supervision of the Hygiene Promotion and Community Mobilization Team Leader, the Hygiene Promoter is in charge of setting up all activities related to improving good hygiene, food and care practices including needs assessments, activities’ implementation and monitoring and project evaluation.
    • The hygiene promoter is responsible for realization of hygiene promotion campaigns, surveys, cleaning campaigns, and distribution of hygiene kits. He/She maintains good coordination with the WASH team in order to ensure the quality of the implemented activities and provide technical support for all hygiene, food and care practices related issues. He/she ensures that SI’s technical recommendations and procedures are followed.

    List of main tasks
    Evaluate hygiene, Food and care practices risk:

    • Through field visit, observation and survey the Hygiene Promoter should be able to identify and evaluate the hygiene, food and care practices risk among the community.
    • The hygiene promoter will assess situation and practices on water management and sanitation, food and care practices (drinking water source, collection, transport and storage, water treatment, food management, waste management and sanitation).

    Sensitization

    • Under the responsibility of the team leader, participate in the logistical and administrative organization, planning and preparation of field operations.
      • Identify local resources capable of helping in the preparation and accomplishment of the activities of Solidarités International
      • Remain in touch with the population and local authorities to understand needs, complaints, and major events that may have an impact on the activities of Solidarités International.
      • Analyze the humanitarian situation considering the production problems/Do No Harm policy for the population
    • Apply safety & security procedures in field operations
    • Present the population and local authorities with the nature of field operations
    • Conduct sensitization activities with beneficiaries:
      • using Solidarités resources
      • sending messages determined by the Solidarités International official in charge of operations
      • adapting methods to the different populations
    • Taking into account the production problems / Do No Harm policy for the population
    • Helping identify and train key people regarding sensitization themes
    • Participate in the creation and monitoring of committees, and the training of its members
    • Monitor and distribute sensitization activity reports.

    Distribution:

    • Organize and participate in distribution activities
    • Participate in beneficiary identification process
    • Ensure the completion and filing of distribution justification documents.

    Reporting / communication:

    • Keep files and monitoring archived at the Solidarités offices accessible to the team leader
    • Under the supervision of the team lead, redact activity reports
    • Collect and transmit to the team lead or program in-charge statistics related to the sensitization and training activities
    • Participating in seminars and training workshops is useful to the accomplishment of sensitization activities and the attainment of project objectives
    • Report to team lead on the evolution of activities and specific tasks assigned, problems encountered, quality of relations with beneficiaries and the involvement of communities
    • Remain in touch with the population and local authorities to understand needs, complaints, and major events that may have an impact on the activities of Solidarités International, and in terms of operations perceptions
    • Raise any information or difficulties related to Solidarités International activities or security issues
    • Collaborate with the administration and local authorities.

    Profile Forsaken

    • Education: Minimum of ND in Environmental health, education or any related field.
    • Professional experience: At least 1 year of working experience in similar positions (NGO OR Public sector)
    • Languages: English, and at least 1 local language in Konduga (additional local languages a plus).
    • Personal qualities: reliable, honest, very good organization, resistant to stress, good interpersonal skills (communication), team player.
    • Project related skills: good knowledge of project cycle, project implementation and project follow-up
