    Safety & Environment Specialist (Regulatory Compliance & Assurance)

    Job Purpose

    The Safety & Environment Regulatory Compliance & Assurance role is primarily accountable Drive regulatory compliance across assets and functions.

    The Job location is Port Harcourt

    Responsibilities

    • Go to person on all NNRA permit issues
    • Flag changes in SE regulations to the business and represent Renaissance in the OPTS HSE Committee and other joint industry initiatives to facilitate engagements or advocacy with competitors and regulators on SE related matters.
    • Serve as clearing house for communicating SE issues, and responses to stakeholders’ issues on safety and environment, including facilitation of closure of all queries and requests from regulators.
    • Contribute to the development of Regulatory Compliance tracking Matrix against a register of applicable SE Acts, Legislation and Statutory Instrument consistent with local and international regulatory requirements.
    • Responsible for following up on permit applications and ensure timely resolution of queries or clarifications on pending approvals. Facilitate quality and timely submissions of permit applications for regulatory/partners’ approvals.
    • Make professional input and drive interpersonal relationships with regulators in line with the Renaissance Code of Conduct. Support the lines of business with the coordination of stakeholders’ (such as FMENV, NUPRC, NMDPRA, NNRA, and NUIMS) visits on SE related issues.
    • Coordinate multidisciplinary responses required by stakeholders on permits and consent matters.
    • Anticipate and manage Partner’s/Regulators’ expectations and engagements.
    • Develop and issue periodic updates on the SE components of JV engagement plan.
    • Gatekeeping for all business contacts with Partners/Regulators on SE issues
    • Disseminate learning from Partners’/Regulators’ engagement to appropriate parts of the organization.
    • Develop trackers for submissions and monitor approvals/permits/licenses.
    • Maintain continuous overview of status of submissions and approvals/permits.
    • Custodian of Renaissance SE Compliance Register
    • Regularly Evaluate SE Regulatory Risks in Renaissance

    Job Dimensions

    This role is responsible for enabling SE Regulatory compliance across Renaissance. The role will be a member of the Regulatory, Governance and Systems Leadership Team located in Port Harcourt.

    Key Interfaces include:

    • External: NUIMS, NUPRC, NMDPRA, FMENV, NIMASA, NOSDRA, NIWA, NNRA, NNPCL, TOTAL Energies, NAOC, and other industry competitors.
    • Internal: All Assets and Functions in Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited (Renaissance). 

    Key Challenges

    • Managing multiple regulations and regulators
    • Dealing with and satisfying the expectations of multiple safety and environmental regulators in Nigeria.
    • Managing line expectations on approvals required urgently but may have been submitted late.
    • Maintaining a pool of competent auditors.
    • Managing critical auditing process

    Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
    • 9 years+ within oil and gas, with at least 2 years in similar role with strong external stakeholders’ management skills/experience.
    • Certifications: NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, Process Safety certifications
    • Demonstrated evidence of the following behaviours and technical expertise will be considered during the selection process
    • Meets the Renaissance HSSE Environmental Competence Profile for role advertised.
    • Skilled in HSE Laws, Regulations and Industry Standards
    • Expertise in risk assessment and incident investigation.
    • Ability to influence and drive cultural change
    • Certified Lead Auditor
    • Seasoned SE / Exploration and Production (EP) professional with broad experience in EP, experience with SE risk aspects and or management within the Nigerian environment.
    • Ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Has strong aptitude for opportunity identification and decision-making.
    • Strong business awareness and clear focus on delivery
    • Ability to remain focused, in an environment of many demands and interruptions.
    • Must be a strong team player with excellent networking and advocacy skills, to be able to cope with diverse customers of different technical and cultural backgrounds.

    Safety & Environment Analyst (GHG/CO2)

    Job Purpose

    • Global environmental & climate change challenges are high on the agenda of Governments, the United Nations, key policymakers and stakeholders. Renaissance Africa Energy Company recognizes the impact of these issues on its organizational strategy. It is on this premise that the job purpose is defined as follows:
    • Responsible for the gathering, tracking and analysing the organization’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG/CO2 emissions data.
    • Collaborate with the production units to explore and implement GHG reduction opportunities for facilities.
    • Review sustainability data to ensure compliance with national environmental sustainability standards and environmental regulations.
    • Ensure periodical completeness for greenhouse gas emissions inventories following the ISO 14064 standards.
    • Be the focal point for Industry Benchmarking exercises for the organization.
    • Prepare quality time-based GHG/CO2 Management reports.
    • Support on-going emissions reporting initiatives and strategies i.e. OGMP 2.0 and any new national and/or international initiative that the organization subscribes to.
    • Carry out periodic field assessment of GHG strategies implementation.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the Asset teams to prepare the annual Greenhouse Gas and Energy Management Plans – GHGEMP
    • Focal person to support project teams to quantify the GHG emissions forecasts for different projects and provide a qualitative statement on the outcome.
    • Support the asset teams to conduct LOD 1 audits quarterly and internal cross asset LOD2 audits annually.
    • Support the independent GHG data verification audit and other external audits and coordinate the report out of the audit findings and gap closure actions.
    • Provide discipline support on GHG and CO2 management to Assets and Projects.
    • Support implementation of key emissions reduction strategies including Operational efficiency with the asset teams on flare emission reduction, energy efficiency/utilization and support the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialization Program (NGFCP) for assets without AG Solution.
    • Actively support the annual GHG business planning including the GHG forecast and GHG abatement.
    • Conduct monthly review of GHG related data with the production operations supervisors and the HCA team to embed the need for quality GHG data.
    • Be the GHG/CO2 data review focal point with the Regulatory and Governance and Systems team.
    • Support Information Technology initiatives to improve GHG data management processes and procedures for reporting and record storage.
    • Track availability and functionality of GHG critical meters.
    • Support all local and global methane emissions measurement and reporting standards.
    • Track the execution and reporting of asset’s Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) maintenance plans in SAP and prepare for verification in line with NUPRC’s methane guideline.  

    Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related scientific discipline.
    • At least five (5) years’ experience in the Exploration and Production (EP) industry
    • A clear understanding of the Renaissance Asset operational structure and experience in production operations, or process engineering discipline.
    • A proficient user of Microsoft Office Tools especially Microsoft Excel.
    • A good knowledge of Power BI. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent technical report writing skills.
    • A good understanding of environmental regulations and compliance.
    • Strong interpersonal relationship skills of working as part of a team and skilled at managing cross- functional interface with a drive to embed change.
    • Skilled at delivering through others.
    • Knowledge of Project Management techniques, including business planning and evaluation.

    Safety & Environment Specialist (Construction Safety & Contractor HSSE Lead)

    Job Purpose

    The role will support the Project community in Construction HSSE and Contractor HSSE Management. This role will also support, coach and challenge the Projects and Engineering teams to aspire to Goal Zero across the portfolio through structured and targeted construction and contractor HSSE management initiatives. The role also supports projects develop robust HSSE contract sections, assess contractor capabilities to deliver good HSSE performance and assist project HSSE Authorized Persons (APs) in delivering the Project Management Framework requirements.

    The successful candidate will work directly with the Project Managers, Construction Supervisors and Project Execution, which leads to enhancement of the construction of HSSE, a critical requirement for continuous improvement in the overall business HSSE performance. The Contract and Construction HSSE organization will be part of an exciting journey to re think the way Projects and Engineering manage construction safety in our projects, leveraging contractor competence and capability, focusing accountability on the line, and understanding and managing key risks in a focused way.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that all Project activities touching on contracting are compliant with the HSSE Control Framework section on Contractor HSSE management requirements.
    • Support the various HSSE teams in Projects undertake the necessary contractor screening activities prior to tendering to award.
    • Support the HSSE AP’s and project teams upskill Contract Holders in the contracting HSSE effort.
    • Support contract strategy planning, contract mode and risk classification, prequalification, ITT requirements, evaluation and start-up audits.
    • Provide technical input and subject matter expertise (SME) with respect to the Construction HSSE program. Provide functional leadership to the Project Construction HSSE field support community.
    • Provide assurance of quality and construction safety competence of contractors providing services to Renaissance projects community.
    • Drive Contractor Readiness Reviews, Project HSSE Plan, and Safe Work Procedures and all pertained HSSE documentation prior to commencement of any work.
    • Support Project HSSE AP’s by providing appropriate HSSE terms and conditions for contracts and on tender evaluations.
    • Support and challenge new ways of working with pragmatic and innovative solutions to the project. Model the ability to think outside the box to find fit for purpose solution to project team’s construction safety challenges.
    • Drive contractor HSSE Management in collaboration with EPC and/or fabrication contractors.
    • Drive delivery of construction site safety during project execution in line with industry standards and local requirements.
    • Drive the implementation of Front-Line Work Execution and Construction Sites Safety Standards and ensure effective worksite hazards management
    • Conduct regular HSSE inspections, audits, and compliance reviews for construction and contractor work scopes.
    • Promote and enforce a proactive safety culture through the deployment of fit for purpose safe systems of work tools e.g. toolbox talks, safety leadership engagements, and behavioral-based safety programs etc

    Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or HSE related.
    • 15+ Years in Oil & Gas; 5-10+ Years in direct HSSE Role
    • Construction HSSE experience is an advantage.
    • Contractor Safety Management and Contract experience is a plus.
    • Experience in a wide range of project sizes including Major Projects is required.
    • Internationally recognized occupational Health & Safety certification (or equivalent) is an advantage. 
    • Indirect influence on the numerous contracts through the proper selection of contractors for the projects.
    • Strong networking capacity across all lines of the business, the successful candidate will be interfacing with all levels of management both within the business and the Contractor community.
    • This will require a lot of travel to all construction sites, to assure construction safety standards are fully complied with and all sites look and feel the same.
