    Regional Director - Head of Sales & Partnership

    LEAD ESC LTD – a foremost executive search company working on behalf of our client a global non-profit social enterprice that develops and mass-markets low cost irrigation solutions for sale in developing countries with the aim of reducing poverty to small scale farmers; is looking to hire a highly experienced Regional  Director, Head of Sales & Partnership. He/She should be an enthusiast, whose interest is to drive business and enable such business to compete effectively in an increasingly competitive market and driven by passion to work with small scale farmers and create impacts through their economic empowerment through irrigation. The Regional role will cover Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal and Mali and other potential countries within West Africa for the products. 

    The perfect fit will assume the role of a Director in an internatiol social enterprise focusing on small holder farmers, with offices in America and Africa.

    The job holder will manage the entire regional team and own the sales of the client’s products – irrigation equipment targeted for small scale farmers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Regional Head will:

    • Perform the due-diligence to understand the market potential and opportunities for the social enterprise irrigation products in West Africa- Nigeria, Ghana, Mali and Senegal.
    • Create the market development and sales plans for specific-countries in West Africa.  Lead and manage the implementation of the plan to ensure growth in sales, social impacts, market share, and profitability in West Africa.  This will be done primarily through:
    • the proper selection, development and management of a distributor network in each country
    • Identification of partners in the NGO world and stakeholders that will boost the development of smallholder irrigation in West Africa.
    • Recruit, manage, coach, and develop capacity of country sales representatives in Nigeria, Ghana and Mali to develop and promote the irrigation equipment.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of the company’s activities, finances and social impacts within the region.

    Principal Accountabilities

    •  Responsible for setting a scalable and sustainable model for the company’s West Africa region
    • Optimize the company’s economic sustainability in West Africa and support fundraising activities  for West Africa
    • Regular market assessment and pro-active development of country specific sales and marketing plans with Country Sales Representatives and distributors to maximize sales and impacts in the West Africa region.  This includes sales plans, pricing policies, and promotional plans for each country.
    •  Actively promote the products through product demonstrations, product support and training for distributors, customers, thought leaders, and influencers.
    •  Actively manage customer and distributor accounts and collect outstanding receivables
    • Develop and manage the operations budget for the region and provide monthly updated sales forecast (program design and implementation) and tactical issues.
    •  Establish an annual and long term Business Plan
    • Open country programs and/or B2B programs in a variety of countries and design and implement the relevant model for each country
    •  Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the staff in other countries in the region.
    • Work closely and coordinate with the Africa and US office

    PERSONS’ SPECIFICATION:

    • 8 plus years of sales experience. Both private and public sector experience preferred.
    • Relevant Bachelor degree required.  MBA preferred.
    • People Management Experience – managing, mentoring, developing people and a high performing team.
    • Financial management experience – develop and manage operating plans and budgets

    SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

    • Excellent understanding of the agricultural market in the region preferred
    • Excellent business presentation skills
    • Strong customer focus.

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB
    The purpose of the CEO job role is to oversee the company's operations in hardware, software including sourcing / procurement, sales and distribution, global delivery and strategic management functions.
    The successful candidate will make strategic decisions on behalf of the company by generating business leads, liaising with both existing and prospecting clients as well as ensure positive market feedback and brand perception.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
    STRATEGIC MARKETING

    • Create and execute innovative sourcing strategies and marketing plans that drive sales, awareness, engagement and product adoption. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including product manufacturers, freight companies, user experience, design, analytics and leadership to drive product roadmaps, strategy and execution.
    • Develop a go-to-market playbook for the existing product address quick wins with regards to sales enablement
    • Ability to manage product positioning, pricing, promotion and sales enablement
    • Market count, background research and zoning for network expansion
    • Maximize distributor coverage

    CUSTOMER SERVICE

    •  Ensure high quality customer service standard for the network
    •  Monitor client retention rates and organize regular customer engagements
    • Develop actionable, data-driven insights to inform product and marketing strategy. Leverage marketing insights to better understand customers and represent the voice of the user.
    •  Build and annually review a stable and effective Distribution Partner Landscape, where distributors complement each other with their strategic differentiation towards regions, reseller segments and product groups
    • Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects

    BRAND MANAGEMENT

    • Building and sustaining a reputable image for the brand within identified markets to gain favorable market share and gain customer trust & loyalty for the brand.
    • Ensure that the brand is visible, positive and compliant on all material/support
    •  Maintaining a visible brand identity by ensuring uniformity for internal & external branches based on the Group brand manual.

    ADVERTISING & COMMERCIAL COMMUNICATION

    • To manage media planning and media buying for communication materials
    •  Monitor & evaluate the impact of each media campaign

    INDUSTRY RESEARCH & STUDIES

    • To provide relevant industry related information that may guide the development and introduction of tailored and innovative products for target markets
    • Direct market analysis and research to identify trends and opportunities in the industry
    • Mystery shopper activities to measure brand acceptance, collect feedback on brand perception & acceptance, monitor competition and stay up-to-date with trends to strategically position ourselves favorably within existing and new markets

    • Organize & partner events that support the company’s objectives for clients, products,

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience, of which 5 years should be in a decision making position.
