    Creative Arts Instructor

    Location: Karasana - Gwarinpa, Abuja (FCT)

    Job Summary

    • The Creative Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history
    • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
    • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
    • Understand the versatility of acrylic paints: dry brushing, staining, layering, underpainting
    • Knows and can apply elements of modern principles of art.
    • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
    • Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school.
    • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs, such as after school art club
    • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
    • Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
    • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or any related discipline
    • Minimum of Three years’ work experience as an Art Teacher.
    • A PGDE is an added advantage for those whose degrees are not in Education. IGCSE and TRCN certification is also an added advantage.

    English Instructor

    Job Summary

    • Responsible for instructing others about the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    • Assigns books and essays for pupils to read and teaches them how to identify themes, points of view, and other characteristics.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Teach pupils about the structure and content of the English language, including proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
    • Instruct pupils on interpreting literature.
    • Assign books to be read.
    • Help pupils interpret literature and poetry.
    • Teach about different literary styles.
    • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
    • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
    • Create a positive educational climate for pupils to learn in.
    • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
    • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
    • Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
    • Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
    • Utilize various curriculum resources.
    • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
    • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the pupils served.
    • Tutor pupils on an individual basis.
    • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
    • Prepare and distribute required reports.
    • Observe and evaluate student's performance.
    • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in English, Linguistics, Education or related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a teaching role.
    • Deep understanding of the British/Nigerian curriculum and English language requirements.

    School Supervisor

    Job Summary

    • This position will be responsible for providing dynamic and professional leadership for the early years section of the school in consonance with the vision and mission of the school.
    • He/She is expected to innovatively provide exemplary leadership, build on the achieved successes and improve on them, ensuring high quality education for all and improved standards of achievement.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversees the day-to-day operations.
    • Engages in the review, planning, implementation, and monitoring of the curriculum.

    • Sustain staff performance management effective systems and incorporate teachers’ appraisals and targets for School’s achievement.
    • To ensure that all those involved in the school are committed to its aims, motivated to achieve them, and involved in meeting long, medium- and short-term objectives and targets which secure the educational success of the school.

    Teaching and Learning:

    • Continue to maintain an environment that promotes and secures good teaching, effective learning, high standards of achievement and good behavior.
    • Determine, organize, implement and monitor the curriculum and its assessment and ensure that statutory requirements are met.
    • Ensure that pupils develop study skills in order to learn more effectively and with increasing independence.

    Accountability:

    • Continue to develop an organization in which all the staff recognize that they are accountable for the success of the school.
    • Ensure that parents and pupils are well informed about the curriculum, attainment and progress and about the contribution they can make in supporting their child’s learning and achieving the school’s targets for improvement.
    • Provide information, objective advice and support to the Head of School to enable it to meet its responsibilities for securing effective teaching, learning, improved standards of achievement, and for achieving efficiency and value for money.
    • Carry out any such duties as may be reasonably required by the school Directors.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Candidates should have 3 - 5 years’ experience.
    • Degree in Education.
    • Added certification in Education Administration, Curriculum Development or Quality Control, some of which should have been in a school leadership position.

    The Prospect Must Demonstrate:

    • Significant teaching experience
    • Proven expertise in leading a Core Subject
    • Proven record of raising standards and securing good progress through outstanding classroom practice
    • Proven experience of managing staff, leadership and team building
    • Experience of leading in-service training with staff
    • Innovative and open to modern teaching techniques
    • Up to date knowledge of child protection procedures and a commitment to safeguarding students.
