    Mechanical Engineer - Raw Mill

    Location: Obajana Plant, Obajana Plant, Nigeria

    Job Summary

    We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Raw-Mill section. The ideal candidate will provide mechanical engineering support on maintenance, repair and service of mechanical 
    equipment, instruments and structures used within the plant to ensure equipment performance, 
    reliability, HSE and plant optimisation. 

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Troubkeshooting and maintenance of the vertical roller mill and operation.
    • Inspection and maintenance of general mechanical equipment such as Air-slide, Belt Conveyor and Bucket Elevator.
    • Troubleshooting and maintenance of hydraulic system and operation.
    • To ensure proper housekeeping of job areas and plant in general.
    • Spares requirement planning.
    • Follow-up the norms of NIS, ISO 19001-2015, NIS, ISO 14001-2015 & NIS ISO 45001-2018 on regular basis and maintain the records accordingly.

    Requirements

    Education and Work Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or it's equivalent in mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum of three (3) years of industrial experience

    Skills and Competencies

    • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
    • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
    • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
    • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
    • Knowledge of mathematical computing and analysis tools (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
    • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.

    Responsible for managing the issuance, dispensing, and monitoring of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) for operational equipment and vehicles. The AGO Officer also conducts regular stock reconciliations, maintains fueling equipment, and collaborates with logistics teams to optimize fuel management processes.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Fuel Issuance & Dispensing

    • Dispense AGO (diesel) to mobile equipment as approved on fuel vouchers.
    • Ensure accuracy in the quantity and quality of AGO dispensed.

    Inspection & Compliance

    • Conduct thorough inspections of AGO dispensing equipment for proper functionality and safety compliance.
    • Maintain good housekeeping at fueling stations and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
    • Strict adherence to internal controls

    Record-Keeping & Reporting

    • Document AGO transactions accurately and maintain detailed records of refueling activities.
    • Monitor AGO usage, analyze data, and prepare periodic reports for management review.

    Stock Management

    • Carry out monthly stock counts and generate signed reports.
    • Identify and report discrepancies or issues in AGO inventory.

    Problem Resolution

    • Address issues during refueling, such as equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.

    Academic/Professional Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and online news websites.
    • Preferable fluency in other languages, like Hausa or Yoruba.

    Work Experience

    Wast Management Engineer

    • Adherence to cost reduction program including: cost tracking practices/methods In order to maintain competitive edge in the market.
    • The cost reduction program should be reflected In: Fixed cost, variable cost; selling.& general cost.(pricing) by using energy.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervise the activities of heavy equipment operators, drillers, blasters and other workers in mining

    • Coordinate the preparation and ensure adherence to mine plans and schedules

    • Monitor operational performance against budget and recommend operational changes to senior management when necessary to ensure that production quotas and procedures are met.
    • Ensure that all safety, health and environmental legal and defined standards are adhered to.
    • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity.
    • Prepare production and other reports for review by the Head, Mines.
    • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and laid down policies and procedures.
    • Supervise, train, and evaluate engineers, technicians, operators or other mine personnel.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned but the Line Manager from time to time.

    Key Requirements

    Education and Work Experience

    • A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering (Production/Civil/Mining) or a related discipline.
    • A minimum of twenty-one (21) years work experience in mining operations.

    Skills and Competencies

    • In-depth understanding of mining principles and practices. 
    • Well developed personnel management skills.
