As a Country Coordinator, Water and Climate Resilience Project you will drive the Accelerator programmes-linking the work done at the country level with the global work of the Accelerator and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
At a first stage, you will be directly managing and guiding in-country colleagues and consultants that the Accelerator will hire and work in co-ordination with country partners to guide stakeholder engagement and reach formal agreements with governments.
You will be responsible for internal and external co-ordination and will be the main point of contact between an in-country team and the Accelerator Secretariat, to align them with the Accelerator's core mission, capture their needs and help match them with the right experts from the Accelerator's network of partners, and to provide oversight over progress on-the-ground and keep the Resilient Water Accelerator Leadership and Steering Committee informed on key milestones.
Key Deliverables include;
- Manage and guide Accelerator staff, partners and consultants in our country programmes in Lagos.
- Work with key RWA country partners, including WaterAid Country Programme Staff to ensure that goals and targets of RWA are achieved.
- Drawing on your technical knowledge you will act as the main link between in-country teams and the Accelerator's Secretariat, and co-chair the Programme Working Group (consisting of country and regional experts from across partner organizations)
- Manage the Programme Working Group and engage with members regularly to get guidance on the Accelerator's programmatic approach and government engagement efforts.
- Capture the needs of in-country teams and match them with the right set of expertise
To be successful, you will need to be/have:
- Experience managing in-country programmes related to the environment, climate, water, WASH and/or development while being stationed in-country or at the regional/ global level.
- A University degree in Environmental/Public Health, Social Sciences, Development studies or related fields
- Relevant experience and knowledge of the intersection of water and climate change issues at both the policy and programmes level.
- Experience leading government engagement efforts - preferably on climate and water.
- Ability to manage a distributed team and effectively report upwards on progress/key risks.
- Fluent in spoken and written English. Fluency in languages other than English (particularly Bengali, Portuguese, French, and Spanish).
- Passionate about climate adaptation and water security, and driven to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities.
- Strong team player.
- Experience working in or closely with one of the Accelerator's priority countries (Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, and Nigeria).
- Knowledge of project management tools or design software.

The primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation of WaterAid Nigeria's country strategy by ensuring that all activities are properly included in realistic and achievable annual plans and to lead on the effective monitoring of progress of programme implementation against objectives.
The PME Manager will work in strong collaboration with programme team colleagues to ensure timely and accurate project monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance of programmes, learning and reporting. The role will work with programme team colleagues to develop and support the ongoing planning cycle (monthly, quarterly and annual), Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) systems, provide management information to support effective decision making, and support partners with effective planning, monitoring & evaluation systems, processes and practices. This position will ensure strong links between CP wide Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting approaches link with global M&E
Key Deliverables include;
- Working with the Coordinator Planning, Strategy & Reporting, support WaterAid Nigeria's Senior Management Team (SMT) in the development and implementation of Country Programme plans and budgets in line with overall strategy
- Coordinate and lead Monitoring and Evaluation activities with support from other departments and WaterAid UK, in line with WaterAid's frameworks.
- Support full implementation and integration of global PMER requirement and standards across all areas of WANG's work
- Generate organisational learning from monitoring and evaluation activities, document lessons learnt/case studies and share organisational learning with potential audiences and users - both internal and external to promote and replicate best practices across the organisation and sector.
- Participate in, support or lead relevant capacity building initiatives and workshops on PM&E targeting implementing partners
To be successful, you must be/have:
- 5 years post NYSC experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation preferably in an NGO setting.
- Good understanding of project planning cycle and management cycles.
- Strong Excel, Microsoft ACCESS /IT skills.
- Strong knowledge in the development and use of software and database applications for programme monitoring & learning.
- Experience with conducting data quality assurance and reviewing indicators for projects.
- Good knowledge of data collection methodologies, tools and processes.
- Experience in using quantitative and qualitative tools for carrying out monitoring and evaluation projects.
- Skilled in analysis. Able to analyse information and make sound conclusions and decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proactive approach. Identifies issues and challenges, and seeks to resolve these in a timely manner
- Experience of building the capacity of other and facilitating learning in relation to planning, monitoring & evaluation.
