Tdh continues to strive to serve the affected population in various affected areas in Borno and other parts of the country.
Tdh is a technical partner in the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)-funded project focused on strengthening child protection (CP), Education in Emergencies (EiE), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services in Borno State. As part of this effort, Tdh seeks a Training and Capacity Building Supervisor to oversee and implement capacity-strengthening initiatives for local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) within the consortium. The role will support the Localization and Systems Strengthening Project Manager in enhancing CSO capabilities to deliver high-quality, sustainable protection and education interventions.
Position Summary
The Training and Capacity Building Supervisor will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering training programs for CSO partners to enhance their technical and operational competencies. The role will focus on child protection, GBV prevention and response, education programming, and organizational development. The Supervisor will work closely with consortium partners, government agencies, and humanitarian actors to ensure effective knowledge transfer and sustainable capacity strengthening.
1. Training Development and Implementation
- Conduct training needs assessments in collaboration with CSO partners to identify capacity gaps.
- Develop training plans and materials tailored to the needs of CSOs in CP, GBV, EiE, and organizational management.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and mentoring programs to enhance the technical and operational capacity of CSOs.
- Ensure training methodologies are participatory, inclusive, and adapted to the local context.
- Support the institutionalization of training materials within CSO structures to enhance sustainability.
2. Capacity Strengthening and Technical Support
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to CSO staff to reinforce training outcomes.
- Guide CSOs in developing and implementing policies on child protection, safeguarding, financial management, and human resources.
- Support CSOs in establishing internal training systems to ensure continuous learning.
- Promote best practices and innovative approaches in capacity building.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation of Capacity Building Activities
- Develop and implement tools to measure training impact and effectiveness.
- Conduct post-training evaluations and follow-ups to assess skill application and retention.
- Maintain training records, participant feedback, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to reporting requirements by providing data on capacity-building activities.
4. Coordination and Partnership Engagement
- Collaborate with consortium partners, government stakeholders, and humanitarian actors to align training efforts with national standards.
- Represent Tdh in relevant sectoral working groups and coordination platforms on capacity building.
- Foster linkages between CSOs and institutional training providers to strengthen long-term capacity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor\'s or master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Organizational Development, or related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in training and capacity building within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Expertise in designing and facilitating training on CP, GBV, EiE, and organizational strengthening.
- Experience working with local organizations and building their technical and operational capacities.
- Strong understanding of the humanitarian coordination system, particularly in Nigeria.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Proven ability to develop training curricula, manuals, and learning tools.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English required; knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an asset.

Position Summary
The Localization and Systems Strengthening Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing Objective 3 of the project: enhancing the capability of CSO partners to deliver sustainable CP, GBV, and EiE initiatives. The role will involve conducting organizational capacity assessments, designing and implementing targeted capacity-building programs, supporting local partners in resource mobilization, and ensuring the overall strengthening of local systems and networks.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Capacity Strengthening and Localization Support
- Lead organizational capacity assessments of the four CSOs to identify technical and operational gaps.
- Develop and implement tailored capacity-building plans, including training in CP, GBV, EiE, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), financial management, and governance.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and coaching to CSOs, ensuring continuous learning and development.
- Support CSOs in improving internal policies and systems, including child protection policies, safeguarding policies, financial controls, and human resource management.
2. Partnership and Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between Tdh and the four CSOs, ensuring smooth coordination and collaboration.
- Foster linkages between CSOs and relevant government agencies, donor organizations, and humanitarian coordination bodies.
- Represent Tdh in localization and capacity-building discussions at sectoral coordination meetings, particularly within the Protection and GBV Area of Responsibility (AoR).
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing platforms, workshops, and peer-learning sessions among CSO partners.
3. Quality Assurance and Monitoring
- Oversee the implementation of capacity-building activities and ensure alignment with project objectives and donor requirements.
- Conduct regular progress reviews and adapt capacity-strengthening strategies as needed.
- Work closely with the MEAL team to develop performance metrics to track improvements in CSOs’ capacities.
- Ensure adherence to localization principles, accountability to affected populations, and conflict-sensitive programming.
4. Advocacy and Sustainability
- Support CSOs in developing and implementing advocacy strategies to influence policy and funding for CP, GBV, and EiE at the local and state levels.
- Assist CSOs in resource mobilization efforts, including proposal development and donor engagement.
- Ensure sustainability of capacity-building initiatives by strengthening institutional memory and local ownership of interventions.
- Advocate for the integration of strengthened CSO structures into government-led protection and education systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in international development, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian or development programming, with a focus on localization, capacity strengthening, or systems building.
- Proven experience working with and strengthening local organizations, particularly in child protection, GBV, or EiE.
- Strong understanding of the Nigerian humanitarian landscape, including government structures and policies relevant to protection and education.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training and capacity-building initiatives.
- Excellent project management, coordination, and partnership-building skills.
- Familiarity with donor regulations, particularly SDC, and experience in working within consortium structures.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English required and knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an asset.
