    Farm Hand – Greenhouse

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Farm Hand to join our greenhouse team. The ideal candidate will assist in the daily operations of our greenhouse unit, supporting the cultivation, care, and harvesting of a variety of vegetables and high-value crops.
    • This role is physically demanding and requires consistency, time management, and a keen eye for healthy plant growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in the planting, transplanting, pruning, trellising, and harvesting greenhouse crops (e.g., tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, leafy greens).
    • Monitor plant health and report signs of pests, disease, or nutrient deficiencies.
    • Support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices, including manual pest control and application of organic/inorganic treatments.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of greenhouse work areas.
    • Assist in regular calibration and operation of irrigation systems (drip systems, fertigation units).
    • Monitor temperature, humidity, and ventilation systems and alert the supervisor to any anomalies.
    • Ensure greenhouse tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly.
    • Accurately log planting dates, fertiliser application, pest control treatments, and harvest data.
    • Maintain a crop diary as instructed by the supervisor.
    • Harvest produce according to quality and maturity standards.
    • Sort, grade, wash, and package produce for market or transport.
    • Minimise post-harvest losses through proper handling and storage practices.
    • Follow safety protocols and hygiene standards.
    • Assist in training and guiding seasonal or casual workers during peak times.
    • Perform additional farm-related duties as required, including support in nearby crop or livestock units if needed.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC certificate; agricultural training is a plus.
    • At least 1 year of experience working on a greenhouse or vegetable farm.
    • Basic understanding of plant growth and greenhouse operations.
    • Physically fit and able to perform manual labour for extended periods in hot/humid environments.
    • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and communicate effectively.
    • Familiarity with greenhouse technology (e.g., shade nets, insect-proof screens, drip irrigation, fertigation).
    • Experience with organic or sustainable farming practices.
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • Fluency in English, Hausa and/or Yoruba.

    Farm Hand - Livestock

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a hardworking, responsible, and animal-loving Farm Hand to assist with the daily care and management of livestock and other animals on our farm.
    • The successful candidate will play a key role in the health, hygiene, and feeding of animals including cows, goats, rams, pigs, rabbits, and poultry.

    Responsibilities

    • Feed livestock and other animals according to established routines and dietary needs.
    • Ensure animals always have clean, fresh water.
    • Observe animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or distress.
    • Report any issues promptly to the Livestock Supervisor or Farm Manager.
    • Assist in administering basic treatments (under supervision).
    • Clean pens, stalls, coops, and hutches regularly.

    Requirements

    • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
    • Must be comfortable living in a rural farm setting.

    Farm Hand - Aquaculture (Fishery)

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to support day-to-day operations at our fishery.
    • The ideal candidate will assist in the care and management of fish stock, maintain equipment, support feeding and harvesting processes, and help ensure the facility remains clean and operational.
    • No prior aquaculture experience is necessary, but a willingness to learn and work physically is essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist with the daily feeding of fish stock following prescribed feed schedules
    • Monitor water quality parameters (e.g., temperature, pH, oxygen levels) under supervision
    • Help clean and maintain fish tanks, ponds, nets, and other aquaculture equipment
    • Support harvesting, sorting, and processing of fish for the market
    • Remove dead or diseased fish and report unusual behaviour or mortality promptly
    • Help with pond preparation, stocking, grading, and sampling activities
    • Maintain accurate logs of feeding, mortality, and growth (as required by the supervisor)
    • Clean and sanitise work areas to ensure hygiene and biosecurity protocols are followed
    • Assist with loading and unloading supplies, fish feed, and equipment
    • Perform other general farm duties as assigned (e.g., clearing debris, basic repairs)

    Qualifications

    • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
    • Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Willingness to handle fish and work in wet, muddy, or slippery conditions
    • Team player with good communication and listening skills
    • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
    • Previous farm or aquaculture experience is an added advantage, but not required
