The Nephrology Nurse will develop and implement quality improvement activities for dialysis and transplant centers under the supervision of the Director.
Education & Experience
Licensed Registered Nurse, required.
A graduate of an approved, professional nursing program, required. A Bachelor's in Nursing or a related discipline, preferred.
A certification in Nephrology Nursing (CNN), preferred.
Residence in Abeokuta will be an added advantage
Skills Required:
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to develop clear and concise reports and effectively communicate with, and be understood by, persons contacting the Network via telephone, electronic, or other written communication.
Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills with the ability to deal professionally and successfully with a diverse population.
Strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to identify key assignment tasks, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
Must be proficient in MS Office Suite and particularly in use of Excel for data collection, tracking, analysis, and presentation.
Knowledge of state/federal agencies, community resources and nephrology are desirable.
An understanding of continuous quality improvement concepts and tools.
The Dialysis Technician supports clinical staff, start to finish, throughout the dialysis treatment process, and delivers prescribed dialysis treatment according to physician orders and nursing assessment.
Responsibilities
Obtains and records patient vital signs and machine readings according to facility policies.
Sets up and tears down the dialysis blood system for the treatment process.
Inserts and removes access needles in patients for dialysis treatment.
Monitors and assesses patients during the course of treatment, documents changes in the patient condition, and informs charge nurse of problems during treatment.
Calculates patient’s weight loss to reach dry weight.
Maintains and tracks inventory.
Performs laboratory work.
Determines patient care priorities and organizes work load efficiently and effectively.
Maintains professional working relationship, observing patient privacy and rights.
Education & Experience
A graduate of an approved program, required. A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, preferred.
