    Senior Cargo Inspector

    Job Summary:

    The Senior Cargo Inspector is responsible for overseeing and conducting inspections of petroleum products, chemicals, and related cargo to ensure compliance with international standards, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements. The role involves supervising inspection activities, ensuring accuracy in measurement and sampling, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform and supervise cargo inspections for petroleum products, chemicals, and gases at terminals, refineries, pipelines, and vessels.
    • Ensure accurate quantity and quality determination through gauging, sampling, and testing.
    • Verify cargo documentation, including bills of lading, certificates of quality/quantity, and shipping documents.
    • Ensure all inspections comply with industry standards (e.g., API, ASTM, IP) and company procedures.
    • Prepare and review detailed inspection reports in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Coordinate with clients, surveyors, terminal staff, and vessel crew during inspection activities.
    • Monitor loading and discharge operations to ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
    • Investigate discrepancies, losses, or contamination issues and provide recommendations.
    • Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures at all times.
    • Mentor and support junior inspectors and provide on-the-job training where required.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in cargo inspection within the oil & gas industry.
    • Strong knowledge of petroleum inspection standards (API, ASTM, IP).
    • Experience in tank gauging, sampling, and cargo calculation.
    • Familiarity with international trade and shipping documentation.
    • Good communication and report writing skills.
    • Ability to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends.
    • Valid driving license (if applicable).

    Certifications (Preferred):

    • IFIA Certification (Petroleum Inspector)

    • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) (if offshore work required)

    Working Conditions:

    • Field-based role involving work at ports, terminals, and offshore/onshore facilities
    • Exposure to varying weather and operational conditions
    • May require travel and extended working hours
