    Training Programme Manager (TPM)

    Job Purpose

    • The Training Programme Manager will provide overall leadership and coordination of the Early Childhood Education and Development Skills training programme, ensuring effective implementation, compliance with IDEAS guidelines, and achievement of training, certification, early childcare development and employment outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide overall management and coordination of the training programme.
    • Develop and oversee implementation of the early childcare development skills.
    • Coordinate recruitment and enrolment of trainees in line with programme criteria.
    • Supervise instructors, administrative staff, and project personnel.
    • Liaise with certification bodies such as National Board for Technical Education and National Business and Technical Examinations Board for assessment and certification.
    • Ensure compliance with IDEAS reporting requirements and performance milestones.
    • Facilitate creation of childcare centers at the community.
    • Ensure at least 75% employment or self-employment outcomes for trainees.
    • Lead reporting including inception, progress, completion, and employment tracking reports.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
    • Minimum of 7 years experience in training programme management.
    • Experience in early childcare development.
    • Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects.
    • Professional certification required

    Finance Officer

    Job Purpose

    • To manage financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting for the childcare training programme in compliance with project guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage project finances and maintain accurate financial records.
    • Prepare financial reports and expenditure statements.
    • Ensure proper documentation of expenses for IDEAS payments.
    • Manage the project bank account and ensure accountability.
    • Support financial audits and compliance reviews.
    • Track project expenditures against the approved budget.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of financial management experience.
    • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.

    Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer

    Job Purpose

    • To design and implement monitoring systems to track training activities, outcomes, certification, and employment status of trainees.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop M&E framework and performance indicators.
    • Conduct baseline assessments and maintain trainee database.
    • Track trainee attendance using biometric systems where applicable.
    • Monitor training progress and performance outcomes.
    • Ensure data entry into the IDEAS Project MIS platform.
    • Prepare M&E reports for programme management.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in monitoring and evaluation.

    Early Childhood Development Instructor / Facilitator

    Job Purpose

    • The Early Childhood Development Training Instructor will deliver competency-based training in childcare and early childhood education, equipping trainees with the practical knowledge and skills required to provide quality childcare services in homes, childcare centers, preschools, and community settings.

    Key Responsibilities
    Training Delivery:

    • Deliver structured classroom and practical training in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and childcare services.
    • Facilitate competency-based learning aligned with national occupational standards and IDEAS guidelines.
    • Use participatory teaching methods including demonstrations, simulations, and group exercises.
    • Ensure trainees acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical childcare skills.

    Curriculum Implementation;

    • Implement approved curriculum and training modules for childcare and early childhood development.
    • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and instructional aids.
    • Deliver training modules such as:
      • Child growth and development
      • Child health, nutrition, and hygiene
      • Early learning and play-based pedagogy
      • Child protection and safeguarding
      • First aid and child safety
      • Childcare center management
      • Communication with parents and caregivers

    Practical Skills Training:

    • Conduct hands-on demonstrations on childcare practices, including feeding, hygiene routines, early stimulation, and safety procedures.
    • Supervise trainees during practical sessions and simulations.
    • Support trainees during field placements, internships, or practicum in childcare centers.

    Assessment and Certification:

    • Assess trainee progress through assignments, practical demonstrations, and tests.
    • Prepare trainees for competency assessments and certification by relevant authorities such as:
      • National Board for Technical Education
      • National Business and Technical Examinations Board
    • Maintain records of trainee performance and assessment results.

    Mentorship and Support:

    • Provide mentorship and guidance to trainees throughout the programme.
    • Support trainees in career pathways including employment or entrepreneurship in childcare services.
    • Promote professional ethics and child protection standards.

    Reporting and Documentation:

    • Maintain attendance records and training documentation.
    • Provide weekly and monthly reports on training progress.
    • Support monitoring and evaluation activities.

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Number of trainees successfully trained.
    • Percentage of trainees passing competency assessments.
    • Quality of practical childcare skills demonstrated by trainees.
    • Trainee satisfaction and feedback.
    • Contribution to employment or self-employment outcomes.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree, NCE, or Higher National Diploma in: Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Home Economics, Social Work or related fields.
    • IDEAS early childcare development training certification or instructor qualification is an added advantage.
    • Registration with relevant professional bodies is desirable.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching or training in Early Childhood Education or childcare.
    • Experience delivering competency-based training programmes.
    • Experience working with childcare centers, preschools, or early learning programmes.

    Core Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of child development principles.
    • Practical childcare and early learning facilitation skills.
    • Ability to deliver competency-based vocational training.
    • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
    • Strong mentoring and coaching ability.
    • Ability to work with diverse learners, including women and youth.

    Ethical and Safeguarding Requirements
    The instructor must:

    • Adhere strictly to child protection and safeguarding policies.
    • Maintain a safe and inclusive training environment.
    • Promote gender equality and prevent harassment or abuse.
