    Training Officer

    About The Role

    • BURN is recruiting a Training officer who will be responsible for designing and implementing training programs to enhance the sales skills and performance of the sales and field operation teams.
    • The individual will ensure that the sales and field operations teams are well-equipped to meet the needs of the organization and to achieve its sales objectives.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collate, Analyse, and execute day-to-day training needs in the sales and field operations teams. 
    • Conduct training sessions for new and current sales personnel with greater emphasis on Train the Trainer programs.  
    • Systematically collect feedback from trainers and trainees and identify the emergent issues during the process including delivery methodology and satisfaction levels. 
    • Generate results, continuously measure the performance of trainees after the session and propose changes where necessary. 
    • Coordinate with external trainers whenever required.  
    • Execute Training of Trainers programs for TL’s, TSM’s & RSM’s.  
    • Stay up to date with the BURN manufacturing training curriculum & training content. 
    • Liaise with senior training officer on day-to-day training needs of sales and field operations teams, propose remedial actions and follow-up for remedial actions. 
    • Knowledge of the carbon market, the causes of climate change and its global effects, and the passion for discussions about environmental issues will be a definite plus.  

    Requirements
    Skills and Experience:

    • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with  2-3 years of experience as a trainer
    • Well-versed in the local country’s geography, main languages, and culture
    • Superior communication skills
    • Very good at working with G-suite/MS word.
    • Willingness to travel frequently within the country (up to 50% travel) E – Excellent reporting skills.
    • Previous experience as a Trainer of Trainers would be an added.
    • Experience working with a Knowledge Management Platform (KMP) or Learning Management Systems (LMS).
    • Experience working in an FMCG environment is an added advantage.
    • Exposure or understanding of the carbon operating environment is an added advantage.

    R&D Prototyping Technician

    About the Role

    • We are seeking an R&D Prototyping Technician to support the development and refining of innovative products that drive our mission of providing clean cooking solutions.
    • This role is critical in turning ideas into tangible prototypes, enabling rapid testing and iteration to meet user needs and market demands.
    • The technician will collaborate with engineers and designers, utilizing advanced tools and techniques to ensure precision, quality, and functionality in every prototype.
    • By joining our R&D team, the technician will play a key role in advancing product innovation and maintaining BURN’s leadership in the clean energy sector.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with product engineers to implement design changes and improvements on stoves.
    • Build and assemble sheet metal stove prototypes.
    • Perform on-site and in-factory repairs and maintenance on test/pilot stoves as required.
    • Perform simple CAD editing and reviewing before prototyping.
    • Manage and prepare materials for laser cutting and prototyping.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of laser-cut parts to ensure they meet design standards, adjusting as necessary as instructed by the product engineer.
    • Assist the team with stove user placements.
    • Product documentation of prototypes developed.
    • Perform any additional tasks or assignments delegated by the product engineer.

    Requirements

    • Proficiency in building and assembling sheet metal prototypes.
    • Ability to perform on-site and in-factory repairs and maintenance.
    • Proficient CAD editing and reviewing skills.
    • Experience operating and managing laser-cutting machines.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Human Resources Officer

    About the Role

    • BURN is looking for an HR Officer who will play a crucial supporting role within the Human Resources functions in Kano, Nigeria. 
    • This individual will be responsible for assisting in various administrative and operational tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of HR processes and the overall well-being of the workforce.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Onboarding process: the employee will oversee the onboarding process for all new employees of BURN, including inducting them through all documentation (contracts, policies, rules, and procedures).  For ex-pats, ensuring that there is a smooth transition to Kenya, including the acquisition of an entry visa, travel insurance, flight, and airport transfer to Burn House.
    • Coming up with employee handbooks for the various countries that BURN has set up an office.
    • Recruiting both casual and full-time employees, up to and including managerial staff.
    • Reviewing company policies and training the employees on the changes.
    • Collecting all documentation required for contract preparation from all new employees.
    • Monitoring contract expiry date by managing the electronic employee data sheet and ensuring that employees do not work without valid contracts.
    • Managing the staff medical allowance scheme.  Ensuring that the claims presented are authentic and reimbursement is made. 
    • Dealing with any HR-related issues brought up by employees and escalating them to management where necessary.
    • Participating in various appraisals meetings for employees and following up on manager appraisal feedback.
    • Managing the filing for middle-level and top management employees.
    • Performing correct exit process for all employees and contractors, ensuring that all documentation is signed off before exit, medical for factory employees exiting the company is done, and all the items that belong to the company are returned in good condition.
    • Coordinating the medical check-up for all employees.
    • Keeping the training calendar updated and ensuring that training needs are well captured.
    • Organizing for training and following up with NITA reimbursements.
    • Assisting the Health officer with WIBA issues.
    • Keeping on top of changes in Kenyan Labor Laws.
    • Arranging any travel that BURN employees need to do, this could include hotel and transport bookings.
    • Performing any other duties as may be assigned by your manager from time to time.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Relations or any other relevant course with at least 5 years of HR experience in the manufacturing sector.
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian Labour legislation.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Strong people management and communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to commute or relocate to Kano.
    • Membership in any recognized HR professional body is an added advantage.
    • Add recruiting responsibilities...both for casuals and full-time employees up to and including managerial staff
    • Fluency in English required, together with proficiency in Hausa.
