    Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

    Job Purpose/Objectives

    • Oversee and perform advanced level professional Instrumentation and Controls (“I&C”) Engineering function throughout Projects’ and Operations lifecycle in the Organization’s oil and gas processing facilities.

    Job & Main Specifications (Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Required Details)

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation or Chemical Engineering. Chartered Status preferred.
    • A minimum of 10 years’ cognate experience in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering in the Oil & Gas industry, particularly in the areas of design (conceptual to detailed Engineering), construction, commissioning, start-up and Operations.
    • Proven knowledge of I & C systems software, tools and techniques.
    • Knowledge of relevant National and International regulations, specifications, codes and standards.
    • Ability to identify and proffer solutions to instrumentation and controls challenges across the facilities.
    • Effective project management skills.
    • Highly assertive and a team player with excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to distil problems, establish evidence-based facts, determine accurate conclusions, make recommendations, and take firm decisions.
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Be the focal point, Subject Matter Expert and Technical Authority for the resolution of all Instrumentation and Control (“I&C”) engineering related matters across the Organization.
    • Develop/Review/Approve full suite of I&C engineering deliverables including BoD’s, Specifications, Control & Shutdown Systems’ philosophies, Datasheets, Index, Schedules, Loop Diagrams, Calculations, TBEs, etc.
    • Actively participate in HAZOPs, HAZIDs, LOPAs, SIL Assessments, Design reviews, F&G Mapping Studies and other technical reviews.
    • Provide input into Management of Change (“MoC”) processes for instrumentation and control modifications.
    • Effectively coordinate SCADA/PCS/ESD/F&G/3rd Party Systems design and integrate with other similar packages.
    • Provide I&C engineering input to other discipline Engineers to ensure optimal designs and ensure that design outputs are consistent.
    • Assist in the development and completion of I&C check sheets for Mechanical Completions, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning.
    • Coordinate the scope definition, planning and execution of Instrumentation and Control (“I&C”) equipment upgrade or modification projects.
    • Act as the Company representative (as required) to ensure that design work by contractors meets Company specifications and relevant industry codes and standards.
    • Evaluate technical issues relating to preparation of proposals and evaluation of equipment for adherence to required performance criteria.
    • Perform I&C equipment purchasing tasks, such as vendor bid enquiry preparation, vendor bid analysis, vendor selection, approval of vendor deliverables and attendance of FAT/shop tests, as needed.
    • Manage contractors undertaking Instrumentation and Control (“I&C”) scopes for the Organization and ensure scopes are delivered within budget and schedule.
    • Implement improvements directed towards showing profitable operation, growth of business and the enhancement of the team's performance.
    • Identify new appropriate technologies applicable to our operations and environment, evaluate these, technically and commercially and where appreciable opportunities exist, present a proposal for its deployment.
    • Use extensive relevant design and construction experience to proactively anticipate and prevent problems before they arise.
    • Assist in the resolution of field problems, assessing field recommendations on changes and in the implementation of efficient corrective measures that can reduce operational issues.
    • Provide adequate Instrumentation and Control (“I&C”) technical support to ongoing Operations in all Organization’s Operating Assets.
    • Ensure compliance with the Company’s ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures.
    • Take full ownership of assigned tasks, while ensuring effective communication with other disciplines, departments and business units to successfully complete tasks.

    Maintenance Supervisor

    Job Purpose/Objectives

    • To maintain all the instrumentation and control equipment/devices safely and efficiently in all field locations, including pipeline network and its accessories for continuous plant availability.
    • To satisfy the technical integrity target of the oil/gas processing facility and ensure that all instrumentation and control equipment/devices are operated within the design limit.

    Job & Main Specifications (Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Required Details)

    Education/Knowledge

    • A minimum of OND, City & Guilds Level 3 in Instrumentation and Controls or Electrical Engineering discipline, with at least five (5) years’ experience in process plant operations in an oil/gas production and processing facility; one (1) of which should be in a similar role.

    Skills & Attributes

    • Skilled in installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of Instrument systems/equipment and components.
    • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the Instrument discipline.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Proficient with Microsoft office packages.
    • Good time management and communication skills.
    • Must be conversant with PTW and LOTO system.
    • Knowledge of applicable relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Conversant with workorder system processes.
    • Critical and analytical thinking.
    • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
    • Ability to remain calm under duress and in emergency situations.
    • Good leadership and mentorship skills.
    • Good working knowledge of Fire & Gas Systems, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems.
    • Conversant with Allen Bradley Programmable logic controller ("PLC"), Rockwell View logic, Daniel Ultrasonic flow meters, Gas Chromatograph, etc.
    • Conversant with the use and application of HART Communicator to access field instruments for calibration.
    • Complete understanding of documentations with oil/gas production and processing facility such as:
      • P & ID (Piping and Instrumentation diagrams, Process Flow Sheets)
      • General Assembly drawings
      • Instrument List, I/O list, etc.
      • Cause and Effect Charts
      • Piping Isometric drawings
      • Loop drawings
      • Incident reporting.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Carry out inspections on the plant to ensure that all instruments, analysers, control valves, flow measurement, transmitters, gauges are in good working condition and rectify any defects.
    • Perform skilled work in both instrumentation field devices and electromechanical repairs or electronic circuit repairs.
    • Enforce compliance with group instrument standards and procedures ("SOPs"), as well as those of relevant government regulations and ensure HSE-MS requirement for company and contractor equipment are met.
    • Restore equipment breakdowns and day-to-day instrument routine and non-routine maintenance activities.
    • Calibrate all relevant instruments, analysers, and flow measurement devices, etc. online or during shutdown to ensure a stable and smooth plant operation.
    • Ensure that all alarm and trip systems are tested according to schedule and procedure to ensure safe plant operations.
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate instrument field devices, such as transmitters, Daniel Orifice Meters, Ultrasonic meters, Flare meters, Coriolis meters, Turbine meters, Differential meters, Control valves, Fire and Gas detectors, PSV, F&G, Pneumatic and Hydraulic control system, PLC, DCS, SCADA, Moisture analyser, Gas chromatograph, VFD, telecommunications equipment and its accessories etc. in all field locations
    • Provide technical input on instrumentation and controls system to engineering discipline from conceptual engineering to detailed design, construction, installation, and commissioning phase.
    • Ensure that plant integrity is not compromised due to faulty or slow repairs.
    • Optimise maintenance cost, while ensuring that the company's quality standards are not compromised.
    • Conduct root cause analysis ("RCA") of instrumentation and controls equipment/devices with the aim of eliminating recurring problems.
    • Ensure that all hazards associated with activities are identified prior to work execution and with due regards to safety procedures and HSE-MS requirements.
    • Conduct unsafe act or condition audits to quickly identify hazards in the facility, with corrective actions where necessary to re-instate facility integrity.
    • Promote the upgrade of current and old systems according to innovative designs to improve production and plant stability.
    • Ensure all instrumentation and controls equipment/devices are maintained according to schedule and OEM specifications, to prevent unnecessary plant trips and production losses.
    • Investigate trips and equipment failures to ensure maximum plant availability.
    • Execute all tasks and activities required for the workshop HSE-MS audit and certification as planned.
    • Maintain a clean work environment in line with established standards of hygiene and housekeeping.
    • Develop and maintain database for all instrument related safety critical equipment in the process plant and ensure that periodic maintenance is conducted as at when due, in accordance with statutory requirements.
    • Provide on-the-job training ("OJT"), leadership, and mentorship to less experienced technicians.
    • Perform other duties that may be assigned by Line Manager.
