    Experienced Senior Associate - Actuary

    Job Description

    • The Actuarial professionals will be working with Insurance (Life / Non-Life) and Pension business clients.
    • The role encompasses reserving, M&A Due Diligence work, capital modelling, pricing, ALM and EEV calculations and reviews. In addition, there will be involvement in Solvency II projects.

    The Opportunity
    Our consultants work on the most relevant topics in the industry, such as:

    • Assignments in pricing and product development
    • Risk and capital modelling/optimization
    • Valuation of liabilities under IFRS/BEGAAP/Solvency II
    • MCEV calculations and review
    • Acting as the actuarial function
    • Developing and optimizing reinsurance mechanisms
    • Predictive modelling and visualization
    • Valuation and advice related to pension and employee benefits matters
    • Assisting in due diligence with respect to actuarial aspects.. And much more!

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Working in a team, you will interact with the client in order to collect all the necessary data/information, set-up and maintain advisory files, prepare leads, etc.
    • Positive attitude and demonstrate willingness to learn
    • Work constructively with team.

    • As a Manager, you will be a professional member of our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team. Our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team consists of dedicated accounting advisory professionals based in Lagos Nigeria. We combine technical accounting skills in IFRS, practical experience in financial reporting as well as deep sector and regulatory knowledge.     Your Key Responsibilities

    • Manage client opportunities, develop, and maintain trusted relationships with clients.
    • Respond to client’s ongoing adhoc technical accounting queries.
    • Manage and mentor junior engagement team members.
    • Manage and support senior management of team in delivering services to the client on complex transactions.
    • Manage engagements on new accounting standards (such as IFRS 17), financial reporting, transaction accounting, adhoc accounting advice and other related engagements.
    • Write and review client reports based on analysis of fact patterns and other relevant information.
    • Understand the client's industry and recognize key performance drivers, business trends, and emerging technical and industry developments.
    • Stay informed of general business/economic developments and their impact to the client.
    • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. Lead by example.
    • Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery.
    • Maintain an educational program to continually develop skills. Maintain cooperative relationships with other engagement teams.
    • Identify, manage, and participate in business development activities.
    • Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to apply knowledge and services.
    • Develop long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally.

    Qualifications, Background, and Skills

    • A Degree in Accounting or other related discipline
    • Professional qualification: ICAN, ACCA or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 – 7years experience in accounting advisory or technical accounting within financial services such as banking and insurance industry.
    • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards related to financial instruments (IAS 32, IFRS 9, & IFRS 7), Insurance contracts (IFRS 17) and other standards relevant to financial services clients (IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IFRS 3, IFRS 10).
    • Demonstrate mastery of key concepts and principles related to process improvements, project management and change management; show an ability to apply these consistently in engagement settings
    • Excellent written and communication skills, with proficiency in English.
    • Proven ability to identify and pursue business opportunities whilst maintaining a solution mindset as well as drive and resilience to deliver in a pressured environment.
    • A dedication to teamwork and leadership.
