    Programme Manager

    Job Description

    • This is an exciting opportunity to develop, manage and advise on projects, partnerships and activities to deliver against a creative economy ecosystem development strategy. The selected candidate will support the development of a core area of a Creative Economy portfolio working with sector stakeholders, and communities.
    • You will manage various stakeholders across Africa and internationally and contribute to fundraising efforts to scale up programming.

    Programme Management:

    • The Programme Manager (PM) will be responsible for the design, planning, contracting, implementation, and close-out of a portfolio of activities linked to Creative Economy ecosystem development in Africa. 
    • The PM will work in close collaboration with the Unit Head and stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and design activities that will respond to the creative economy priorities in order to further the objectives of the practice.
    • Project manage planning, schedules and budgets for agreed activities to ensure that all tasks are completed within timeframe and budget parameters defined during project design.
    • The PM will serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all activities fit within a strategic and applicable portfolio.
    • Interface with other units in the organisation (Finance, Communications, Design) to deliver agreed programmes.
    • Participating in donor and grant application processes including design, submission and review.
    • Provide progress reports on programmes to key officers for prompt decision-making.

    Relationship and Stakeholder Management:

    • Create a framework that guides engagement between the unit and the various levels of stakeholders; the PM must be able to maintain good relations with all associated parties.
    • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for developing new physical and digital audiences for delivery of  the units’ projects in Africa.
    • Identify thematic priorities that align with partner interests and develop standardised concept notes for pitching to multiple partners.
    • Curate relevant activities, stakeholders, events and workshops that will drive innovation in the selected thematic areas.

    Communication and Evaluation:

    • Work with the Community Manager and Communications Unit to develop and manage digital marketing and audience development campaigns including but not limited to social media platforms.
    • Provide content to the Communications Unit for communications materials for distribution internally and externally.
    • Ensure the evaluation strategy for each project is implemented in accordance with program standards and to report likely variations from target.

    Qualifications
    Do apply if you have a keen understanding of: 

    • How Creative Economy Value Chains work and current barriers and opportunities within this in an African content 
    • Programme design and related tools for example relating to financial management and reporting, evaluation, contract management etc 
    • Job creation and livelihood development strategies in an African context 

    The Ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

    • At least 7 years experience designing, and leading delivery of incubation, acceleration or capacity building programmes focused on artistic, entrepreneurship, digital or technical skills within the Creative Economy in Africa.
    • Degree Level or Equivalent in Economics, Management, or related discipline 
    • Project Management qualification is desirable.
    • Experience supporting ecosystem development either in a specific sector within, or across the Creative Economy in a formal  /corporate context.
    • Strong networks across at least one major African market for Creative Economy although experience across multiple markets is preferred.
    • Experience working with international donors/ on international donor funded projects.
    • Relationship management with senior stakeholders in partner / donor organisations and in government. 
    • Creativity skills in developing programs and methods for engaging an audience toward the success of the unit.

    Research Manager

    Job Description

    • The successful candidate will conduct and lead research, produce user friendly reports and creative outputs, and manage research partnerships related to Creative Economy sectors and trends.
    • You will have experience  managing applied research projects in a formal context and will need to show evidence of experience of managing at least two research projects outside their academic research.

    Technical:

    • Research and mine datasets to create impactful analyses and visualisations on the Unit’s key projects.
    • Review large amounts of data from multiple sources and curate the relevant facts. 
    • Perform statistical analysis using R/Stata and Qualitative analysis tools
    • Leverage analytical techniques and technologies to interrogate, visualize and understand data sets.
    • Support data and design production to research, scrape, refine, verify and interpret data to serve Creative Economy’s portfolios.
    • Produce data and visualization packages in coordination with the Design Lab team.
    • Work proactively and think critically to improve data and study design components of projects, tools and data stories created by the team.

    Research Planning and Management:

    • Project-manage research projects, including creating and managing plans, schedules, budgets, deliverables and stakeholders contributions.
    • Lead a portfolio of impactful research projects, from design to data collection, analysis and follow-through.
    • Provide any other necessary support as needed.

    Research Production and Distribution:

    • Contribute to the development of project reports and other knowledge products including research articles, briefings and presentations.
    • Directly contribute to and manage creation of research reports and presentations including drafting  the findings report and presentation and collaborating with stakeholders on design and production.
    • Manage the process and ensure research findings/reports/presentations are announced and distributed. Seek and  manage the development and distribution of new/innovative methods for sharing the finding with internal and external stakeholders.

    Qualifications
    We are looking for an accomplished researcher who combines excellent technical skills and experience in project and team management. The Successful candidate will have the following experience :

    • Post graduate's Degree in Statistics, Economics, or Development Research or related field.
    • At least 4 years working experience in a research field or as a data analyst.
    • Experience undertaking research in a creative economy sector is strongly desirable.
    • Knowledge and skills in Qualitative and Quantitative research methods.
    • Experience in writing proposals, research write ups.
    • Experience in developing research tools for qualitative and quantitative analysis
    • Experience using statistical languages such as R/Stata.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills  including proven success in ability to present ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively.
    • Strong analytical skills, numerical confidence and ability to translate numbers into clear insights and recommendations. 
    • Knowledge and experience in Human Centred Design.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing research projects.
    • Solid project management skills to oversee a portfolio of projects at different stages in the research lifecycle.
    • A critical thinker, who is curious, intuitive and pays attention to details
    • Innovative with ideas on approaches to collecting, evaluating and modelling datasets that will be used as the foundation for the company’s future solutions
    • Strong work ethic and thrives working across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge and experience of the Creative Economy is desirable.

    Community Manager

    Job Description

    • As Community Manager, you will lead engagement with community(ies) of Creative Economy stakeholders including creatives / creators, sector support organisations like hubs, associations and collectives, service providers and freelancers, employers, and business owners etc.
    • In this role, you will manage the daily operations of the Creative Economy community ecosystem. Build models, metrics of success and growth strategies, ensuring long-term success and growth of the community.

    Job Responsibilites

    • Fostering a sense of community by building relationships with the community across a range of stakeholder types.
    • Stimulating engagement by interacting with followers and the Creative Economy audience.
    • Responsible for developing the content strategy across all social media channels, with a strong focus on Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, our website and other bespoke community engagement tools in use.
    • Understand the online user experience and consumer journey and suggest improvements to how we better engage with our audience directly.
    • Liaise with the Communications Unit to monitor analytical reporting in line with KPIs.
    • Analyse the effectiveness of our engagement and social media campaigns to shape the next wave of activity.
    • Ensure all communication and tone of voice is consistent with our brand identity.
    • Measuring the interaction level with the community;
    • Monitoring answering questions, comments, and customer queries in a timely manner.
    • Monitoring the success of campaigns and analyzing community and social media data.
    • Preparing detailed weekly and monthly reports on social media activity;
    • Monitoring and registering the increase or decrease in the follower volume; and tracking users’ interactions, such as likes, comments, and shares by employing analytic tools.
    • Overseeing the publishing of relevant content, such as blog entries, on a regular basis and the relevant impact on audience across hubs.
    • Staying up-to-date on social media tools and best practices.

    Qualifications

    Successful candidate will have the following experience:

    • Bachelor’s Level or Equivalent in communication, English, journalism, marketing or a related field.
    • 3 - 4 years of social media marketing/content and  campaign management experience to deliver against clear metrics for engagement.
    • 2+ years in social community management including Facebook, Instagram., LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube are essential.
    • At least 2 years understanding of community networks and - design, functionality, strategy.
    • Solid understanding of more emerging platforms such as TikTok, Clubhouse, etc.
    • Wide knowledge of digital marketing methods - including content marketing, social media, and online advertising.
    • Knowledge of Hootsuite, mail chimp or similar programs to manage online postings on different platforms.
    • Proficient in Google Analytics.
    • Organisational skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Excellent communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical peers.
    • Experience of working in a large, complex organization with extensive stakeholder management experience
    • Knowledge of marketing trends and techniques.
