    Senior Technical Associate - Laboratory Services

    Job Task:

    This position will report to the State Laboratory Lead and will assist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of laboratory services in Benue state. S/He will work with the members of the state program teams to support the delivery of quality laboratory services across all supported facilities. The person will assist in the development of guidelines, documented procedures and other tools required for effective service delivery. S/he will work with assigned facilities to ensure the optimal functionality of equipment, proper management of supplies, timely reporting of data, and overall improvement in the efficiency of entire laboratory services.

    Other duties

    • Assist in the development and adaptation of relevant policies and guidelines required for required to provide quality laboratory services.
    • Assist in the evaluation of laboratory methods/procedures, and conduct of periodic assessment and review of activities.
    • Support the implementation and monitoring of the Integrated Sample Referral Network and an efficient biosafety and infection control program across all supported healthcare facilities and communities.
    • Design and implement a system for the proper documentation of all laboratory activities using the appropriate tools.
    • Support and monitor QA/QC activities in all supported facilities, and ensure DTS are available and in use at all testing points.
    • Ensure routine preventative maintenance is performed on all diagnostic and ancillary equipment, and provide feedback to Biomedical Engineers on equipment breakdown.
    • Monitor lab commodity consumption level, ordering of laboratory supplies, and proper inventory management of required supplies.
    • Conduct routine supportive supervisory visits to supported facilities and assist in building the capacity of laboratory staff.
    • Support routine collection, analysis and submission of laboratory data for monitoring of program effectiveness.
    • Compile, analyze and monitor trends on the functionality and optimization of all laboratory services as well as laboratory related activities.
    • Support the implementation of Laboratory Continuous Quality Improvement and the deployment and institution of appropriate corrective and preventive action respectively.
    • The job holder is also responsible for the functionality of all laboratory information systems and linkage to EMR.
    • Prepare progress reports of laboratory activities, lab program implementation and lab quality issues.
    • Perform any other official task as may be assigned by supervisor or Management

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Must be a Medical laboratory Scientist or possess a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Biomedical Sciences. Professional certification of AMLSCN and a license to practice as a medical laboratory scientist is mandatory
    • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience in implementing Public Health programs preferably in the NGO context.
    • Good knowledge of laboratory management  and understanding of quality management system
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
    • Ability to work alone and as part of the team
    • Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, negotiate and meet deadlines

    Senior Technical Associate - QMS

    Job Task / summary of the position:

    The incumbent will assist the QMS Lead in the implementation of QMS program across all supported facilities under the RELIANCE project. Assist in the development and review of quality documents, audit/assessment tools, plan QMS audits/mentorships, and ensure that audits are conducted according to schedule. 

    Job description:

    • The incumbent will support the implementation of functional Laboratory Quality Management System (LQMS) across all RELIANCE Laboratory networks.
    • Maintain the Central Document Master list of relevant documents and tools – generic SOPs, manuals, guidelines and all Laboratory related documents and records.
    • S/he will design systems for the continual monitoring of the selected Quality indicators to monitor the impact of LQMS in the reliability of laboratory results.
    • Support the conduct of internal audits, investigation of non-conformities and monitoring of the implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive action across the network of supported Laboratories
    • Support the central level and facility specific trainings on ISO 15189 based Quality Management System
    • Work with the supervisor to ensure development, implementation and maintenance of Quality indicator dashboard for all laboratory at different level of QMS implementation in the RELIANCE laboratory networks.
    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Must possess a Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, be registered with Medical Laboratory Science council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
    • Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in the implementation of Laboratory Quality Management System
    • High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications, particularly MS Word, MS Excel and Powerpoint
    • Excellent interpersonal, management, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
    • Ability to work alone and as part of the team

    Safety Officer (Incinerator/Waste Management)

    Job Task:

    This position will report to the Molecular Lead and will support the management of the incinerator at NRL. S/He will oversee the routine operation of the incinerator and will be responsible for daily checks and operational adjustments to ensure the plant runs at its optimum capacity. S/He will supervise daily temperature checks to ensure all storage freezers are performing optimally. S/He will be responsible for first line maintenance and will closely work with vendors to ensure quick intervention in the events of equipment breakdown.

    Other duties

    • Oversees the management and maintenance of the ultra-high temperature incinerator at NRL Abuja.
    • Develop appropriate guidelines, procedures and tools required for waste handlers.
    • Support the routine operation, control and first line maintenance of the incinerator.
    • Carry out daily checks and make operational adjustments to ensure the plant runs at its optimum
    • Work with the incinerator operators to improve performance of the incinerator
    • Supervise activities of the incinerator operators, and monitors the effective utilization of the incinerator.
    • Provide and support capacity building activities for waste handlers

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Must be in the field of engineering  or possess a Higher National Diploma or equivalent in engineering or Instrumentation
    • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience with hospital equipment including incinerators
    • Experience and skill in troubleshooting and repairing hospital equipment including incinerators
    • Good knowledge of equipment management  and understanding of basic principles of incinerator operation
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
    • Ability to work alone and as part of the team
    • Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, negotiate and meet deadlines
    • Highly motivated, energetic self-starter who can think and act self-sufficiently.

    Senior Associate, Grant

    Position Summary

    This position will report to the Senior Manager Grants in the HQ. The successful candidate will support the Grants Management/Compliance department in writing, developing, monitoring and implementing grant proposals. S/He will support the Senior Grants Manager to facilitate grant efforts, including the grant approval process and post-award compliance. Ensures timelines are met in all grants activities.

    Other responsibilities:

    • Support in monitoring post-award grant compliance.
    • Researches information and data necessary for grants sourcing and reporting.
    • Edits and organizes grant documents written by other staff and departments.
    • Assist in developing outlines, timelines and budgets templates for grants according to funding guidelines.
    • Facilitates workshops for and provides technical assistance to staff and subcontractors in the area of grant writing, development, compliance and support.
    • Researches new funding opportunities available through local private and corporate foundations.
    • Disseminates information on funding opportunities and compliance requirements to appropriate departments
    • Monitors outstanding grant proposals. Follows up with funding agency as necessary.
    • Maintains necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials pertinent to Grants Office activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualification and Experience 

    • B.Sc. or HND in Accounting or any related disciple, with relevant professional qualification (ACA or ACCA).
    • Must possess a minimum of 4 years’ experience in finance, and a minimum of one year in Grants Management and Administration in a donor-funded organization.
    • Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Must possess a high level of integrity and responsibility.
