    Principal Functions

    Senior Engineer, Data Carrier Operations

    Job Summary

    • Perform PS-CORE end to end troubleshooting, conduct Packet core health checks, and carry out end to end KPI analysis and Performance optimization
    • Ensure the implementation, maintenance and operations of Packet switch nodes and effectively monitor all data related links.

    Principal Functions

    • Experience with IP, IPv6, Ethernet, MPLS BGP VPN, VPLS, VLL and IP Service Edge deployment and operation. Good understanding of IP/MPLS and evolution towards an IP/NGN based technology.
    • Clear understanding of the following protocols: MP-BGP, VPNs, VPLS, L3VPN, Fast   Rerouting, VRRP, BFD OSPF, IS-IS, BGP,MP-BGP QOS, NAT, IP routing and switching.
    • Hands-on experience with Huawei, Cisco and Nokia IP nodes.

    Head, Technical Project Delivery

    Principal Functions
    Tactical:

    • Keep abreast of global and local best practice for end-to-end management of multi-functional technical projects within the Telecom Industry.

    • Implementation and continuous review of project management automation tools within the Technical Team.
    • Documentation and continuous update of all contractual requirements for Technical CAPEX projects.
    • Monitoring of Actual CAPEX spends against yearly Budget on line-by-line basis, and providing periodic reports to management at agreed intervals.
    • Effective, accurate and timely reporting of Projects to Senior Management. Periodic and ad-hoc reports
    • Manage internal and external expectations in line with project critical success factors.
    • Contract management for all Technical CAPEX Projects, to ensure all EMTS and vendors' activities on projects are inline with Contract Terms and Conditions.
    • Lead a team of Project Managers (PMs) responsible for following up and reporting on all EMTS Technical Projects, end-to-end.
    • Work with Technical Functional Heads to ensure quality milestones are identified on projects. Ensure PMs identify and embed agreed milestones in project deliverables.
    • Establish and maintain framework for coordinating TPMO activities with Functional Teams and Subject matter experts in the resolution of issues on assigned projects.
    • Ensure PMs coordinate PAT for all Network elements deployed, facilitate snags clearance where applicable and ensure proper handover to the Network Operations team; confirm RFS, PAC status based on actual project deliverables and perform project closure activities when all project objectives have been accomplished.
    • Work with functional teams to identify, analyse, prioritize, mitigate and communicate project risks throughout project lifecycle and during conceptualization phase.
    • Ensure timely communication of project status, risk, and escalations to Project Sponsor and Project Steering Committee
    • Implement the function's work programs and plans in line with agreed upon procedures and guidelines.
    • Plan and manage the human and material resources of the team/ function to optimise performance, morale and enhance productivity.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to team members and manage subordinate's performance towards the achievement of overall team objectives.
    • Monitor and control the budgetary needs of the unit/function.
    • Prepare / compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the CTO
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the CTO.

    Educational Requirements

    • First Degree or equivalent in a relevant field of Engineering.
    • Postgraduate / professional qualification in Project Management will be an added advantage. Ten (10) to twelve (12) year work experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial role.

    Experience & Skills:

    • High level of computer literacy and a good level of articulation, thoroughness and rigor.
    • Certification by a global project management institution (eg PMP, PRINCE2), or MSC degree will be an advantage.

    Manager, Mechanical & Electrical Planning

    • Supervise planning activities and facilitate the deployment of all mechanical and electrical systems at all MSC, BSC, BTS/transmission sites and all satellite earth stations, including the support and space planning.

    Principal Functions
    Tactical:

    • Plan and ensure implementation of established internal processes using best practice standards to ensure a stable and highly available systems platform for an optimal operating environment.
    • Provide planning procedures to aid end to end Mechanical, power and space planning across the network.
    • Keep abreast of global and local best practice as it relates to the optimal and efficient power technology.

    • Supervise preparation of drawings on specific types of equipment and materials to be used in construction and equipment installation.
    • Co-ordinate regular audit of M & E installations for BTS, BSC MGW and data centres.
    • Produce and monitor a proactive planning and implementation cycle on all power and cooling systems (generators, amplifiers, air conditioners, stabilizers, station batteries, rectifiers etc.) at EMTS BTS/Transmission sites.
    • Coordinate power systems and space Design/planning procedures, of all power, lighting, and cooling systems at EMTSMSC, BSC, BTS/Transmission sites.
    • Ensure the optimal performance of all cooling and power systems on installations in all regions.
    • Space management at all Data Centre and MGW locations.
    • Coordinate OEM/vendors to ensure proper design and selection of all power sources and equipment at MSC, BSCBTS/Transmission sites:
      • A.C. power sources (PHCN, Generators, and alternative power sources e.g. Solar Power, Micro Turbines, LPG Generators)
      • D.C. power sources (Rectifiers, DC/DC converters and batteries)
      • Earthing systems, surge suppression and lightning protection systems
      • UPS systems
      • Air conditioning systems
      • Diesel tanks, water separators and fuel supply lines.
    • Manage relationships with both local and international power system providers.
    • Manage vendor performance and ensure agreed SLAs are achieved.
    • Conduct continuous search for alternative, cost effective sources of power, e.g. gas-powered turbines, solar panels etc.
    • Ensure spare power capacity is available for planned works and future installations on the network.
    • Execute work programs and plans in line with agreed upon procedures and guidelines.
    • Plan and manage the human and material resources of the team/ function to optimise performance, morale and enhance productivity.
    • Manage inter-functional relations to ensure synergy across the various departmental functions.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to team members and manage subordinate's performance towards the achievement of overall team objectives.
    • Prepare/compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the Head, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief Technical Officer

    Educational Requirements

    Manager, Incident and Surveillance

    Job Summary        

    • Coordination and management of network surveillance, incident, network fault and NOC front office operations

    Principal Functions        

    • Coordinate Level 1network support (Front Office activities) for the BSS, transmission, IP, Core CS/PS, VAS and Enterprise units
    • Handle incident management-escalation, notification, follow-up, and updates
    • Coordinates war room for incident resolution
    • Takes ownership of follow-up and reporting of incidents according to categories and severity levels
