    Head, Credit Risk Management

    JOB OBJECTIVES

    • Lead all credit underwriting and portfolio management functions for the company, ensuring sound credit decisions that enable portfolio growth while maintaining asset quality. This role will establish credit policies, lead the Credit Committee, and build the credit team’s capabilities to support the company’s growth objectives.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establish and maintain the credit policy framework for all lending products, including underwriting criteria, collateral requirements, pricing guidelines, and approval authorities
    • Chair the Credit Committee and make final credit decisions within delegated authority, ensuring consistent application of credit standards and risk appetite
    • Lead the credit team including credit analysts and portfolio management staff, building deep capabilities in credit assessment across various sectors
    • Design credit assessment methodologies for different product types and customer segments
    • Establish credit turnaround standards and implement processes to achieve speed without compromising quality
    • Oversee portfolio monitoring and early warning systems to identify deteriorating credits and trigger remediation actions
    • Manage problem loans and workout situations, maximizing recovery through collateral enforcement and restructuring where appropriate
    • Develop credit scoring models and decision tools to improve efficiency and consistency of credit decisions, particularly for repeat customers
    • Collaborate with business development and risk teams to ensure alignment on credit criteria and risk appetite
    • Report to the Board on portfolio quality, credit trends, and concentration risks with recommendations for policy adjustments
    • Ensure compliance with CBN regulatory requirements for credit risk management and provisioning

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Master’s degree (MBA) and professional certification (ACIB, ACA, ACCA, FCIB, CFA) strongly preferred
    • Minimum 12 years of experience in credit/lending with at least 5 years in a senior credit leadership role at a bank or major finance company
    • Deep experience in SME/commercial lending with proven track record of managing portfolio quality through growth cycles
    • Strong knowledge of various credit products including working capital, asset financing, and structured facilities
    • Experience building and leading credit teams and Credit Committee processes
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain low NPL ratios while supporting business growth
    • Knowledge of CBN regulatory requirements for credit risk management and provisioning

    Credit Analysts

    JOB OBJECTIVES

    • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for loan facilities, analyzing the financial health, business viability, and collateral of borrowers. This role is essential to maintaining portfolio quality while enabling rapid credit decisions that give Canary Point Finance competitive advantage.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct thorough financial analysis of loan applications including review of financial statements, cash flow projections, and debt service coverage calculations
    • Analyze business models, operating history, and industry dynamics of applicants to assess viability and risk
    • Perform collateral valuation and assessment for various security types including receivables, inventory, property, and equipment
    • Verify documentation including business registration, financial records, and collateral ownership
    • Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda with clear recommendations for Credit Committee review, including risk ratings and pricing recommendations
    • Conduct site visits to applicant business premises to verify operations and collateral existence
    • Monitor existing portfolio through periodic reviews of customer financial performance and collateral coverage
    • Analyze industry trends and risks for key sectors to inform credit decisions and portfolio concentration limits
    • Support relationship managers with credit structuring advice and documentation requirements
    • Maintain credit files and documentation in compliance with CBN requirements and internal audit standards

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; professional qualification (ACIB, ACA, ACCA, CFA) is an advantage
    • Minimum 3-5 years of credit analysis experience in a bank or financial institution, preferably with SME or commercial lending exposure
    • Experience analyzing various loan types including working capital, asset financing, and term loans
    • Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and cash flow modeling
    • Knowledge of collateral types and valuation methodologies
    • Familiarity with CBN regulations for finance companies and credit risk management guidelines

    SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

    • Excellent financial analysis and modeling skills with proficiency in Excel

    Legal Officer

    JOB OBJECTIVES

    • Provide legal support across all aspects of Canary Point Finance’s operations, including loan documentation, security perfection, contract management, regulatory compliance, and litigation. Ensure the company’s legal interests are protected while enabling business objectives through sound legal advice and efficient documentation processes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Draft, review, and negotiate loan facility agreements, security documents, and related legal documentation for all lending products
    • Ensure proper perfection of security interests including charges over assets, debentures, legal mortgages, and assignment of receivables
    • Conduct legal due diligence on borrowers including company searches, title verification, and encumbrance checks
    • Manage relationships with external solicitors for property perfection, litigation, and specialized legal matters
    • Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance including CBN regulations, CAMA requirements, and other applicable laws
    • Support debt recovery efforts including demand notices, engagement of solicitors, and litigation management
    • Draft and review commercial contracts including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and service level agreements
    • Maintain custody and organization of all legal documents, security documents, and title deeds
    • Support corporate governance including board meetings, statutory filings, and company secretarial duties
    • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the company and advise management accordingly
    • Coordinate with operations team to ensure timely documentation and disbursement
    • Manage legal budget and external counsel fees within approved limits

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • LL.B degree from a recognized university; BL (Call to Bar) required
    • Minimum 4-6 years post-call experience, preferably in a financial institution or commercial law practice
    • Strong experience in banking and finance law, loan documentation, and security perfection
    • Knowledge of CBN regulations, CAMA, and other laws affecting finance companies
    • Experience with debt recovery, litigation, and dispute resolution
    • Familiarity with property law and land registration processes across Nigerian states

    Relationship Officers

    JOB OBJECTIVES

    • Manage growth customer relationships with mid-sized accounts, responsible for acquisition and portfolio management. Focus on customer acquisition and efficient portfolio management across a larger number of accounts with standardized service model.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
