Job Description

• Supervise all financial accounting activities for the company
• Ensure financial records comply with company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Oversee daily, weekly and monthly review of GL balances towards presenting accurate financial reports at all times, identify accounting errors or discrepancies and suggest necessary corrective actions
• Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial reports on or before due date and perform preliminary analysis thereon
• Analyze financial trends of monthly and annual reports in a manner that will be useful for further analysis and decision making
• Perform month end and year end accounting and reporting closing activities
• Support preparation of annual budget, forecast and projections for all business units, departments and branches
• Assist in preparing necessary documentations for internal and external financial audits. Liaise with company’s internal and external auditors on matters arising on financial reports.
• Ensure that all account staff perform their responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner

Qualifications

• B.Sc Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study
• Must be a Chartered Accountant
• Minimum of 4 years proven experience as a Financial Accountant, Financial Analyst or similar role
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Deep knowledge of ERP especially Microsoft Dynamics NAV
• Solid knowledge of accounting regulations such IFRS, CAMA etc.
• Knowledge of tax laws and other related regulatory laws such as Pension Reform Act etc.
• Excellent math skills with critical attention to detail
• Time management and ability to work without supervision and under pressure
• Confidentiality and good communication skill.

Job Description

• Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory consumption, production loss etc.
• Analyze data collected, record the results and advise accordingly
• Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
• Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate
• Analyze production costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual
• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
• Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
• Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions
• Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, procedures and processes
• Determine the costs and efficiency of company purchasing activities and business operations
• Collect and compile purchasing data for analysis
• Interpret financial information regarding cost improvements for management
• Forecast and plan future purchasing costs according to fiscal needs
• Monitor and recommend ways of reducing production and other operational losses

Qualifications

• B.Sc Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant numerate discipline
• Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst or similar role
• Qualified Chartered Accountant is an advantage
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with any ERP, especially Microsoft Dynamics NAV
• Computer literacy, Advanced MS Excel in particular
• In-depth understanding of IFRS
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management skills
• Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information.
