    Job Overview

    • This is a consultancy for a proposal the organization is working on. We are looking for a meticulous, detail-oriented Research Expert to assist with the planning and conducting of scientific experiments and research projects

    Job Overview

    Public Health Expert in Malaria Programs

    Job Overview
    This is a consultancy for a proposal the organization is working on The Public Health Expert will work closely with the Country Director to support program design, planning, implementation and epidemiological field activities, including technical inputs in the development of protocols, data management, analysis, interpretation of findings and writing of progress and scientific reports in the following project areas:

    • Knowledge and experience malaria programme implementation across the various thematic area
    • Integrated community case management (iCCM) for malaria, pneumonia and diarrhoea
    • Nutrition
    • Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention
    • Demonstrable experience in developing monitoring and/or evaluation frameworks or methodologies for strategic plans;

    Key Working Relationships:

    • The Public Health Expert will work closely with all members of the Technical Team, including project Technical Officers/Experts, Operations Research/M&E Managers/Experts/Officers, Country Commodity Manager, Data Analysts and Program Managers under the mentorship of the Country Technical Coordinator.
    • S/he will need to liaise with stakeholders such as the Federal Ministry of Health, National Malaria Elimination Programs, State Ministry of Health, and Malaria Elimination Programs.

    Responsibilities

    • As part of the Senior Country Team, work in collaboration with Country Technical Coordinator (CTC) to provide technical support to the portfolio of malaria consortium projects to ensure global best practices are utilised in program design and roll out.
    • Work with the team to support projects in design, implementation, and interpretation of results frameworks.
    • Lead the effort of the country office in the development of plans of action for project evaluations and coordinate the evaluation of country projects
    • Lead statistical analysis of research and M&E data and contribute to reports and publications to disseminate to national stakeholders.

    Qualifications and Experience
    Essential:

    • Postgraduate Degree in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology / Biostatistics or Demography.
    • A minimum of 8 years post-graduate working experience in public health.
    • Substantial Experience in the development, implementation, monitoring, review, documentation, reporting, and dissemination of malaria interventions.
    • Mid-level management experience in planning and implementing large-sized malaria health projects in Nigeria
    • Experience working on maternal and child health programs, including community health delivery
    • Extensive experience in research design and implementation

    • Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) required

    Epidemiologist

    Job Overview

    • This is a consultancy for a proposal the organization is working on. The Epidemiologist is responsible for carrying out investigations, implementations, assessment and epidemiological surveillance systems/monitoring (if needed) according to the organization’s protocols in order to contribute to appropriate evidence-based decision making using well managed health data in outbreak and emergency programs. The research study will be done in Kwara and Osun states.

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out key epidemiological activities in outbreak investigation (description including time, place, people with emphasis on mapping when it is needed) and advise on the operational response
    • Supervise epidemiological activities in community-based surveillance (mortality, malnutrition), in outbreak investigations (description including person, place and time with emphasis on mapping when needed) and advise on operational response.
    • Monitor data quality in the data collection tools used through follow up with appropriate staff on missing, erroneous and duplicate data, correcting data errors in a timely manner, and liaising with staff to ensure data integrity is maintained.
    • Develop and maintain community-based and hospital-based surveillance systems to monitor health status of beneficiaries.
    • Monitor epidemiological trends of relevant outbreak-prone diseases.
    • Guide activities of medical staff and community staff for surveillance and/or active case finding, including ensuring understanding of the need for consistent case definitions and data recording (briefing of all new staff).
    • Develop and maintain accurate and high-quality data systems/databases.
    • Performs quantitative data analysis using descriptive, statistical, and spatial methodologies and computerized statistical software,
    • Prepare regular written reports on progress and findings for medical coordinator, and when appropriate to external collaborators/networks (MoH, other NGOs).

    • Update the medical dashboard to support program improvement and sharing with the medical coordinator on a weekly basis.
    • Ensure external data management tools (e.gMOH, Nut 5W cluster) are updated with weekly and monthly data for external sharing purposes.
    • Ensure regular reporting on progress, challenges and findings at medical meetings or coordination meetings if applicable.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • Medical Doctor (preferable), Nurse or Biomedical background with a Degree in Epidemiology.

    Experience:

    • At least 3 years' experience in tropical medicine (having assumed coordination position is a plus).
