    Hygiene Officer

    Location: Potiskum, Yobe
    Job Type: Full Time

    Job Description

    • We are currently looking to fill the role of Hygiene Officer who will be responsible to ensure quality implementation of the Public Health Promotion and Non-Food Items distribution of the WASH project.

    Key Responsibilities

    • In coordination with the WASH Programme Manager, revising and adapting hygiene promotion training and IEC materials in line with the local context (should be drawn up as a communication plan) and in line with target groups to be trained.
    • Continually assessing emergency needs, as requested, especially taking in the broader perspective of public health.
    • Plan beneficiary selection and registration, and lead the distribution of NFI kits with the Field Assistant team.
    • Prepare training tools on relevant technical topics and conduct trainings for both internal staff and external stakeholders.
    • Assist the WASH  Program Manager in the development of technical guidelines and tools for hygiene promotion services.
    • Representing the organization at local level WASH meetings and technical working groups relating to Public health promotion and NFI distribution as required by your line manager.
    • Setting performance missions for staff under direct management, conducting one-to-one meetings and performance appraisal in line with Action Against Hunger performance management policies as well as identifying areas where support and capacity building is required.
    • Ensure team coordination and integration with other WASH technical team members.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of Diploma in Public and Environmental Health, Hygiene, and Sanitation related field.
    • Previous experience in supervising hygiene promotion activities;
    • Capacity to be adaptable and flexible.
    • Two to three years of relevant work experience.
    • Microsoft Office software skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
    • Willing and ability to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
    • Fluency in English Hausa, Kanuri, and Shuwa language.
    • Experience working in an emergency program (RRM) will be an added advantage

    Starting Basic Salary / Benefits

    • NGN326,033 per month (excluding other benefits)

    WASH Engineer

    Location: Potiskum, Yobe

    Job Description

    • We are currently looking to fill the role of WASH Engineer who will be responsible to plan, implement and manage WASH infrastructure (constructions, réhabilitations and repairs) related activities in coordination and consultation with the WASH Program Manager; ensure proper coordination, consultation and information sharing with WASH Sector and Local WASH and nutrition structure, partners and stakeholders in a timely manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensuring that the technical activities are up to the AAH standards (WASH package) and WASH in Nut standard are followed by using AAH quality assurance tool kit;
    • Assisting the Line manager in the selection, design and construction of water systems, using ground water or surface water, including abstraction, storage, treatment and distribution for new systems or rehabilitation of existing systems;
    • Provide technical assistance to the Line manager to assess sanitation needs, and design and implement the most appropriate form of sanitation system, in consultation with male and female beneficiaries, which includes excreta disposal, refuse disposal, vector control and drainage;
    • Identification and sensitization of local artisans on various latrines designs and construction with signing of MOU in collaboration with stakeholders;
    • Ensure that effective communication and networking is developed and maintained through partnership and collaboration;
    • Team with local Government and sectoral stakeholders/counterparts to exchange information on WASH technical implementation status;
    • Assisting in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports;
    • To support line manager in maintaining regular contact with local stakeholders including government ministries;
    • Submit technical report and consumption report to the WASH Programme Manager (Upon request);
    • Coordinating with other technical teams or the on-site construction supervision personnel on technical matters.

    Position Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Water Resources Engineering; Building Engineering and Civil Engineering;
    • Previous experience in supervising drilling and construction activities;
    • Capacity to be flexible and adaptable;
    • Three years relevant work experience;
    • Microsoft Office and designing software skills (AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word);
    • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited;
    • Fluency in Hausa and English.

    Deputy Head of Nutrition and Health Department

    Location: Potiskum, Yobe

    Proposed start date: October 2022

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure effective integration and coherence of AAH’s nutritional and health activities – primary health care, nutrition surveillance, feeding programs, health system strengthen – in accordance with the AAH country strategy and the national and state ministry of health strategy;
    • Support Head of Department Nutrition and Health to ensure the cohesion of the nutrition and health teams within themselves and with the other sector programs;
    • With the Head of Department Nutrition and Health; Deputy Country Director (program)  and Field Coordinators ensure regular technical support to the nutrition and health program managers: technical induction, follow up, evaluation, and promotion of positive team dynamics and motivation;
    • Assist the Head of Department Nutrition and Health in overseeing the work of nutrition and health program managers in order to ensure good compliance of activities within the objectives of the mission and of proposals - this includes regular visits to the teams in the field in order to evaluate achievements; to discuss the constraints encountered, the possible solutions and to make recommendations for current and future programs;
    • Support field teams implement measures to ensure rational use of medical supplies in all AAH intervention sites to guarantee a high standard of care;
    • Provide technical guidance to the pharmacy team about handling of medical commodity in coordination with Head of Department Nutrition and Health;
    • In coordination with the Head of Department Nutrition and Health, participate in all relevant meetings related to nutrition and health, including meetings with donors, partners, sectors and governmental bodies (when required);
    • Active participation in LGAs Coordination meetings when required in coordination with Head of Department Nutrition and Health, Field Coordinators and Program Managers;
    • Participation in weekly coordination team meetings and any other general team or strategy meetings;
    • Contribute to the overall mission and program strategy, narrative and financial project proposals and reporting, in collaboration with Head of Department Nutrition and Health/support department and other program coordinators as necessary.

    Position Requirements

    • Master's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Public Health Nutrition, Management or related fields or Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition with experience in sector/partnership coordination;
    • At least 6 years of experience in managing nutrition and health programs in underdeveloped/ crisis contexts;
    • Humanitarian field experience, preferably with supervisory role;
    • Excellent skills in report writing and analysis;
    • Sound understanding of national guidelines/protocols; PHC, CMAM, IYCF, IMNCI, RMNCH,  PHC,
    • Experience communicating in different cultural work environments & with a wide diversity of cultures;
    • Experience with external representation and knowledge of cluster mechanisms;
    • Good diplomatic, negotiation and conflict/dispute resolution skills;
    • Working experience in Northern Nigeria.

    Starting Basic Salary
    N812,290 Monthly (excluding other benefits).
