    Maintenance Engineer Verification - Level 2 (PACO – Maintenance Execution)

    Role/Job

    Academics

    • HND/B.Eng/B.Sc in Electrical / Electronics or Instrumentation and Control Engineering

    Work Experience

    Experience:

    • Over 10 years in integrated Oil & Gas upstream operations.
    • 4 years at project supervision level in related jobs.
    • In-depth understanding of Electrical Maintenance Activities, Electrical Intervention, and HV/LV equipment engineering.
    • Expertise in integrity and capacity management systems.
    • Process Automation and Control Optimization (PACO) Engineering:
    • Over 5 years of experience in process control and optimization operations.
    • Expert skill in one of the Instrumentation systems/equipment.
    • Project and Maintenance Knowledge:
    • At least 5 years in operations and maintenance.
    • Significant field-based experience (minimum 10 years) in Process Control and Safety System (RSP or DCS & SIS).
    • Supervisory discipline experience in the Oil & Gas Industry in Nigeria.
    • Field Instrumentation Experience:
    • Proficient in working with control valves, flow station M43 controllers.
    • Decommission, repair, install, and commission all field instrumentation (valves, transmitters, controllers,etc.).
    • Experience in SPDC facility is an added advantage.

    Competence Skills

    • (PACO/Instrument Engineer - META) shall have a good knowledge of the discipline and awareness of other maintenance disciplines with the following attributes:
    • Capable of preparing the following certificates and documentations/processes as part of the site safe systems of work requirements for maintenance activities: Permit to Work (PTW), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA); equipment Isolation with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Management of Change (MOC) and maintenance override system (MOS) certificates.
    • Have ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, engineering documents (e.g. datasheets, termination drawings, interconnection diagram, loop drawings, general arrangement drawing, system architecture, function block logic diagram, alarms and trips schedule, etc) and process documentation (PFS, P&IDS, etc). And can interpret
    • SIS/F&G cause and effects diagrams in problem solving.
    • Skill in replacement, commissioning, calibration, troubleshooting, repair and analysis of failure of instrumentation and fire and gas systems, especially of pneumatics, 4-20mA, HART and FF type. Should be able to use of AVO meter, HART and/or FF Communicators.
    • Specifically, skillful in the configuration, maintenance of Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa and/or Schneider DCS and SIS System. Be able to participate and conduct 5-why RCA
    • as a process of improving plant reliability and availability.
    • Good understanding of NUPRC/NMDPRA requirements.
    • Knowledge in HSSE leadership & management.
    • Able to read P&ID (Process & Instrument) diagramSkilled at Flow Measurement (Liquid and Gas)
    • Skilled at calibration of Test Equipment, Transmitters, controller
    • Skilled at Control Philos. and Block Logic Diagrams
    • Knowledge of Calibrate & Repair of Pneumatic/Electronic Transmitter

    • Generators with demonstrated excellent skills in Technical Reports writing.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee and execute maintenance activities on mechanical systems and equipment:
    • Ensure optimal performance and reliability of all mechanical systems and equipment.
    • Conduct regular inspections and assessments to identify maintenance needs.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and programs:
    • Create maintenance schedules that minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
    • Implement programs that address routine maintenance tasks and preventive measures.
    • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues promptly:
    • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems to prevent disruptions in operations.
    • Implement effective solutions to address any issues that arise.
    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company standards:
    • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during all maintenance tasks.

    • Skilled at Atlas Copco and Gardener Denver instrument air compressor repair and maintenance
    • Skilled at use of Caterpillar diagnostic tools (ET, DDT, FUEL PUMP TIMING & MANO-METER)

    • Ability to demonstrate in-depth discipline expertise to the operation and maintenance of rotating equipment in remote locations.
    • Ability to review and analyze all equipment failure patterns.
    • Ability to trend failure patterns and offer permanent solutions.
    • Ability to work on engines (diesel & gas) and pumps without supervision.
    • Ability to lead and manage technical crew for field call-outs.
    • Support other Teams for intervention activities in utility power substations and locations.
    • Ability to carry out troubleshooting on diesel/gas engines and pumps.
    • Ability to carry out repair works on engine accessories (starter motor, butterfly assembly, diesel/gas engine fuel systems, emergency shutdown switches, etc.).
    • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on rotating equipment (engines, pumps, compressors).
    • Ability to execute routine FLM (First Line Maintenance) checks on running equipment.
    • Support in conducting Fluid-End inspections on reciprocating pumps.
    • Ability to identify and use/operate specialist tools, including power and hand tools and machinery, to perform various inspections, repairs, and analysis on equipment.
    • Ability to use diagnostic tools during overhaul and troubleshooting (ET, DDT, Fuel Timing & Manometer).
    • Ability to provide technical support to contractors by analyzing and identifying mechanical potential problems.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
    • Ability to coordinate with procurement for ordered spares and materials until delivery.
    • Ability to organize and carry out technical inspections with R&D for delivered orders, ensuring required certificates are enclosed.
    • Ability to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards during all maintenance activities.
    • Strong communication skills for collaborating with various departments to ensure smooth operations.
    • Ability to recommend cost-effective solutions for improving maintenance practices.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing maintenance technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.

    • Ability to manage maintenance budgets and provide accurate budget estimates to various plant customers.
    • Proficiency in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), preferably SAP, for managing maintenance activities.
    • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
