    Stakeholder Engagement Expert (Climate Change)

    Job Description

    • The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, particularly within the Ministry of Environment, in selected states across Nigeria.
    • This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful projects addressing climate change challenges and promoting sustainable development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and industry leaders within the climate change sector in these states.
    • Develop and implement effective stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure active participation, collaboration, and support for ongoing climate change initiatives.
    • Act as a liaison between Sydani Group and stakeholders, facilitating communication, information sharing, and collaboration on climate change policies, programs, and projects.
    • Organize and coordinate meetings, workshops, and events to foster dialogue, gather input, and build consensus among stakeholders.
    • Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand the local context, climate change challenges, and policy landscape in the selected states.
    • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to clients and project teams based on insights gained from stakeholder engagement activities.
    • Stay abreast of the latest trends, developments, and best practices in climate change policy, adaptation measures, and stakeholder engagement approaches.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental sciences, sustainable development, public policy, or a related field.
    • Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, or public affairs, preferably within the climate change or environmental sector.
    • Extensive network and established relationships with key stakeholders in the Ministry of Environment, including commissioners and senior policymakers.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and build consensus.
    • Strog understanding of climate change issues, policies, and adaptation measures, particularly within the Nigerian context.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

    Data Scientist

    Role Description

    • As part of the Sydani team, the data scientist will work with the research and monitoring and evaluation team to design and operationalize strategies for data management and the use of data for decision-making.
    • This involves the optimization of processes for big data collection, collation, analyses, and interpretation to find patterns that will drive solutions and organizational growth.
    • The responsibilities of the data scientist will include but are not limited to, solutions and data strategy design, process development for data modelling, data analysis, and prediction model development.
    • This role requires analytical, statistical, and programming skills.

    Responsibilities

    Data System Design and Operationalization

    • Design and operationalize data strategy
    • Mine or extract usable data from valuable data sources
    • Use machine learning tools to select features, create, and optimize classifiers
    • Carry out pre-processing of structured and unstructured data
    • Enhance data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems
    • Analyze complex datasets using advanced statistical methods and present information using data visualization techniques, adopting professional and statistically acceptable standards
    • Propose solutions and strategies to tackle business and research challenges
    • Collaborate with Business, Research, Programs, and IT teams in the organization in the design and implementation of data solution
    • Build statistical models to address health, education, climate change and other research problems that are of interest to the organization
    • Work with program staff to develop program performance dashboards for reporting to the Sydani management, board and clients
    • Conduct semi-independent periodic reviews and data analysis for programs, and specific corporate functions to identify lessons and improvement opportunities
    • Establish strategic relationships with other knowledge-based institutions to facilitate access to, and publication of emerging knowledge and innovations relevant to Sydani’s operations
    • Develop the Sydani staff capacity in data analysis

    Required Competencies and Experience

    • Minimum four years of experience as a Biostatistician, Statistician, or Data Scientist
    • Experience in analyzing survey datasets such as NDHS, MICS, IPUMS, etc.
    • Understanding of machine learning and operations research
    • Knowledge of SPSS, STATA, R, SQL, Power BI and Python. Most preferably STATA and R software. Familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
    • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
    • Skilful in report writing with at least two publications in peer-reviewed journals as evidence 
    • Strong Mathematics, Econometrics, and Modelling skills
    • Experience working in a consulting firm is an added advantage. Consulting experience can be from strategy, research, business, or international development in a reputable consulting firm
    • Problem-solving skills
    • BSc/BA in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field and MSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or any other relevant field

    Management Consultant- Associate

    Role description

    • As part of the Sydani team, the Program Associate will work as the project or workstream lead under the supervision of the Senior Associate or Engagement manager (depending on the project structure).
    • S/he will provide technical leadership in the development of evidence-based strategies and in the implementation of these strategies towards achieving the project objectives.
    • Also, s/he will ensure the timely achievement of the project deliverables and milestones and will be responsible for providing project updates to the client/donor.

    Job Responsibilities

    Project Management

    • Oversee project design and planning, and lead the development of project work plan with clear timelines and deliverables
    • Facilitate project inception meetings with key stakeholders to align on project objectives, scope, and implementation timelines, and routine project check-in meetings to provide updates to clients/donors
    • Provide technical leadership in the development of project execution approach and tools
    • Provide on-the-job mentoring to the project team
    • Delegate roles/tasks to teammates and provide technical oversight to ensure the timely achievement of project deliverables
    • Provide technical leadership to the team on the analysis of project data and in monitoring and evaluation of the project activities outlining insights to optimize performance

    Business development

    • Lead the development and submission of grant applications, and technical response to RFPs or expression of interest (EOIs)
    • Facilitate brainstorming sessions to pool ideas for developing proposals
    • Develop networks and partnerships to promote an understanding of Sydani’s work and ensure the sustainability of Sydani operations
    • Develop the capacity of the team to respond to RFPs and develop proposals
    • Provide support to senior management as needed, with brand representation and management, staff capacity development, and general leadership and oversight

    Leadership development and performance management

    • Participate in the Sydani problem-solving, ideation and capacity-building sessions including new staff onboarding and staff mentoring program
    • Participate in Sydani’s periodic performance reviews and provide feedback to team members for performance improvement as applicable

    Required Qualifications and Competencies

    • Required: Bachelor’s degree (First- or second-class upper) from a recognized university with at least 4 years of professional experience in the health or development sector; or
    • Desirable: Master’s degree in Public health, Health Financing, Health Economics, Health Policy and Management, Health Systems Strengthening, Health Management/Administration, International Development, Business Administration or related fields with at least 4 years of progressive relevant experience
    • Management consulting experience is an advantage
    • Must be a results-oriented individual with experience in developing and tracking self, clients, and team with clear KPIs.
    • Must possess strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and thought-leadership abilities
    • Reliable relationship and stakeholder manager, able to promote team building and collaboration

    Performance management

    • For performance management and accountability, the Program Analyst/Associate will work with the Program Associate or Senior Associate (as appropriate) to develop and agree on the program-specific scope of work, results framework, work plan, and deliverables.
    • These would inform the development of program-specific KPIs to be tracked, along with the technical responsibilities of the Program Analyst for performance review and improvement.

    Communications Officer

    Role description

    • This role requires overseeing the communications efforts of the organization, including public relations and marketing across all of Sydani’s communication platforms including the company website and social media channels.
    • The candidate will be required to conduct market research to understand clients’ needs and preferences, communicate with media personnel, implement communication policies and procedures to uphold the company’s brand image, oversee press relations and improve brand visibility and reputation.
    • The individual must be a critical and analytical thinker. 

    Responsibilities

    • Regularly update the company website with appealing content
    • Design/curate and disseminate distinct types of content across all communication channels to improve brand visibility and reputation
    • Create and produce internal newsletters for the organization.
    • Manage the company’s or organization’s social media communications.
    • Oversee press relations communications.
    • Track analytics to glean insights and refine communications strategy to improve performance
    • Maintain an archive of the company’s digital media including photos and videos
    • Participate in the problem-solving, ideation, and capacity building sessions including new staff onboarding and staff mentoring programs 
    • Participate in periodic performance reviews and provide feedback to team members for performance improvement as applicable.

    Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies  

    • Bachelor’s degree (first-class or second-class upper) in communications, social and digital media, marketing and advertising, public relations, or similar fields is essential. A master’s degree is desirable.
    • At least 3 years of professional experience in any of the communications fields. Experience as a social media handler in a management consulting firm, or in the development sector is an added advantage.

    Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

    Role description 

    • As part of the Sydani team, the Management Consultant- M&E Officer will work as the project or workstream lead under the supervision of the Senior Associate (depending on the project structure).
    • The M&E Officer will be responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning framework for projects in the organization and provide support for successful monitoring and evaluation of the program, as well as for generating and translating evidence to inform programmatic adaptation.

    Job Responsibilities

    Project Management 

    • Provide technical leadership in M&E systems design and implementation, and be responsible for the overall management of Strategic Information
    • Lead and provide technical inputs to improve and facilitate the delivery of sound technical assistance in M&E
    • Analyze data sets and technical assessment findings
    • Work closely with the program team to ensure compatibility and coordination within the M&E framework, and consistency with national and donor requirements
    • Coordinates and manages all monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tasks and deliverables for projects
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of the project’s MEL framework
    • Support the development of MEL systems for collecting, tracking, analysing, and reporting the progress of the project activities against targets and expected outcomes
    • Assist with refining and implementing the program’s MEL plan across all program components including the identification of process, output, outcome indicators specific to activities
    • Helps ensure the quality data monitoring, collection, collation, storage, analysis, and reporting
    • Support the drafting of deliverables to donor in a timely manner.
    • Helps coordinate the design and implementation of learning studies
    • Contribute to internal program reporting, knowledge management and information sharing

    • Work experience: At least 3 years of work experience 2 of which should have been spent in the development sector
    • Must have experience in setting up M&E systems, developing M&E databases and data collection & reporting tools, and data quality assurance for NGOs or relevant organizations 
    • Ability to use the District Health Information System (DHIS)/or any other database software
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with written and spoken English fluency.
    • Excellent planning and prioritization skills
    • Technical skills in analysing quantitative and qualitative data
    • Must possess strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and thought-leadership abilities

    Business Development Lead

    Role description 

    • The ideal candidate should demonstrate a high level of commercial awareness with a minimum of 5 years’ of progressive business development experience working with international donors or implementing partners (USAID, BMGF, JSI, HSDF, Solina etc.).
    • Experience with government agencies and parastatals in a business development/grants management position can be considered.

    Responsibilities 

    • Identify and source for innovative and impactful projects/programs in line with Sydani’s objectives and goals
    • Engage C-level decision-makers at conferences, forums and meetings to build strategic relationships
    • Forge MOUs and partnerships with similar organizations to execute projects or programs
    • Lead market penetration activities into new countries in the Eastern/Western Africa region
    • Coordinate responses to RFPs and RFQs from government and international donor agencies
    • Lead negotiations and discussions with government stakeholders to ensure project continuity and expansion
    • Develop frameworks, approaches, and procedures to enhance the efficiency of business development support processes
    • Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a reputable university
    • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from an internationally renowned university is desirable
    • Membership of a professional body is an added advantage
    • Have evidence of actual proposals/grants developed, led, and won (combined minimum of $1m)
    • Have led a business expansion into other countries preferably in West and East Africa 
    • Possess a deep understanding of the business landscape and market entry requirements in West and/or East African countries

    Business Development Officer

    Role description
