    Director of Fundraising, and Grants management

    • The Director of Fundraising and Grants is responsible for the overall fundraising and grants management efforts and will be responsible for the daily activities of ICON’s development program to include grant writing and grant management, corporate and individual donor cultivation, capital campaigns, fundraising events, etc.
    • Additionally, the DFG will work closely with senior leadership to develop the organization’s development strategy and goals.
    • The ideal candidate will build relationships with people and organizations, securing corporate, foundation, and other philanthropic support that helps to fuel and sustain ICON programs across thematic areas.
    • The ideal candidate will be passionate and enthusiastic about ICON’s mission and understands the importance this work has in driving change in communities and in the lives of the people we serve, demonstrating an ability to create numerous, efficient, and compelling opportunities for donors to support ICON and create a satisfying and rewarding donor experience.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Research, Resource Development, and Grants Management

    • Research and identify sources for funding, including individuals, corporations, foundations, governmental entities, earned revenue, and events.
    • Research, write, contract, and track grant submissions and reports; ensure adequate grant proposals and fundraising activities to meet and exceed annual budget requirements.
    • Performs prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation and government grants.
    • Oversee the creation and submission of letters of inquiry and grant proposals and the maintenance of reporting and other current grantee requirements.
    • Plan and execute all Development Communications such as emails, newsletters, appeals, stewardship materials, and acknowledgment letters.
    • Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, international, corporate, and government sources.
    • Collaborate internally with program staff and management to identify funding needs and secure information needed for grant proposals and reports.
    • Provide stewardship to current institutional donors by preparing regular written updates about programs they have funded.
    • Oversee and direct the implementation of the annual development plan.

    Fundraising

    • Develop fundraising timelines that align with program delivery requirements and annual budgets.
    • Create and execute fundraising and marketing communication plans that ensure the organization can meet its strategic goals.
    • Develop efficient and effective ways to attract new financial donations and clarify the roles of colleagues in supporting fundraising efforts.
    • Prioritizes the growth of the organization, maximizes ICON’s profitability and profile, and generates financial support to meet and/or exceed the annual revenue target to support ICON programs.
    • Plan and execute fundraising events that align with organizational funding goals across ICON’s thematic focus.
    • Develop donors’ and sponsors’ benefit packages to retain and encourage annual renewals.
    • Build a diverse multisectoral donor pipeline.
    • Research and attend required networking events to socialize and network with prospective donors.
    • Enhance the organization’s image by being active and visible among corporate businesses and with other professional, civic, and private organizations.

    • Manage all grants and fundraising-related contractors, ensuring impeccable results.

    Communication & External Engagement

    • Serve as a liaison to the nonprofit community, the media, and the general public, to position and strengthen ICON’s name, recognition, and reputation in the community.
    • Clearly convey the importance of ICON’s mission and work across grant writing and fundraising efforts.
    • Articulate compelling cases for funding and address questions from potential funders.
    • Make recommendations for changes in program design and implementation to increase competitiveness for funding.
    • Draft high-quality reports to funders demonstrating return on investment and outcomes.
    • Ensure grant/sponsorship proposals respond to requirements and provide relevant citations and data.
    • Develop and execute strategic communications to enhance the organizational profile and cultivate support and expand the donor base.
    • Create and disseminate messages that ensure all staff understands fundraising strategy and goals.
    • Supervise all fundraising communications.
    • Conduct regular face-to-face meetings with donors (of all sizes) and provide regular updates to ensure supporters are provided with timely funding updates.
    • Develop communication, outreach, and engagement strategies that express gratitude, answer questions, and maintain ongoing support.
    • Facilitate the creation of new opportunities to expand public messaging and advocacy campaigns.
    • Create and maintain a messaging and branding strategy and coordinate marketing efforts to support programs, ensuring seamless messaging to all stakeholders.
    • Ensure that all public-facing messaging consistently demonstrates the organization’s voice, capability, and potential and monitor the organization’s digital and communications output in order to match the Development strategy.

    Financial Acumen & Management:

    • Ensure effective collection of financial data, and align fundraising financials with operational budgets.
    • Develop accurate financial models to support program operations and expansion.
    • Identify new funding opportunities that can address budget gaps and shortfalls.
    • Manage donor/grant/sponsorship/ database, entering, acknowledging, and recording all donations and donor information.
    • Ensure that all sponsors/donors’ returns and benefits are duly met and promptly.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 3 – 5 years of professional fundraising and grant writing experience; 5 or more years of experience preferred.
    • Proven record of major gift fundraising success, and grant writing for foundations of various sizes.
    • Ability to develop high-quality grant applications for federal, state, International, and local opportunities; ability to engage in grant monitoring and reporting and knowledge of grant management principles.
    • Ability to identify, cultivate, and engage new donors with significant philanthropic capacity via strategic outreach and action steps, including one-on-one discovery meetings and personalized engagement opportunities.
    • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and move quickly from one project to another while maintaining an overall perspective.
    • Demonstrated success in event planning, logistics management, and project management
    • Demonstrated success in fundraising in an NGO or similar organization in a similar capacity.
    • Knowledge of community organization, fundraising, and marketing principles, practices, techniques, and trends.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training.
    • Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations, and similar narrative pieces.
    • Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports and fiscal reports/budgets.

    COMPENSATION AND HOURS

    • Salary is a monthly N200,000-N250,000 commensurate with experience.

    Finance Officer

    Duties and responsibilities

    Finance and Accounting

    • Preparation of monthly financial reports
    • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation reports
    • Post-Implementing Agencies/donors financials report.
    • Post, maintain and reconcile financials in QuickBooks.
    • Prepare other periodic financial reports as may be requested
    • In collaboration with the two departments, build advanced budgets for proposals as requested.
    • Prepare cash advance liquidations for review and submission to the donor.
    • Develop successful monthly internal audits.
    • Consult and prepare external audits in collaboration with an external contractor yearly.
    • Facilitate effective, efficient, and timely financial transaction recordings across projects.

    • Review all invoices and payments to ascertain compliance with ICON’s procedures including the availability of funds before approvals are done.

    Awarded Projects

    • Collaborate with program staff during proposal submission, and review grant applications to ensure compliance with guidelines, policies and financial goals of ICON.
    • Provide financial forecasting to ensure program team coverage, accurate financial spend down, and future fundraising needs
    • Advise on compliance with grant agreement and program objectives
    • Prepare financial analysis, what if’s and other ad hoc requests
    • Support project start-up’s and project ending including setting up project files, and setting up project budgets or other templates needed for project management
    • Provide close-out analysis and other related financial & compliance documents required by the funder.
    • Prepare financial reports & invoices for funders and as needed, interface with funders on financial matters.
    • Support and advise Program teams on matters relating to issuing subawards
    • Perform subaward (grant or contract) risk analysis, prepare monitoring and or capacity building plan and oversee plan throughout the subaward period of performance
    • Ensure subgrant agreements comply with funder requirements, and subgrantees are properly trained on finance compliance
    • Assist in the development of project work plans and deliverables.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience developing and managing budgets.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to think creatively and strategically about how to improve organizational systems and practices is required
    • 3-5 years prior experience working in similar roles at a national or international NGO, working with government grants and contracting rules and regulations, particularly USAID or other international awards.
    • Previous experience with major funders to enable quick learning of funders’ requirements.
    • High proficiency with excel data dumps, data manipulation, pivot tables, and Quickbook

    HR and Administrative Officer

    • The HR and Administration Officer will manage all HR functions and ICON administrative management.
    • The ideal candidate will ensure all the organization’s administrative tasks are performed correctly and on time including recruitment, payroll, compensation and benefits, and training, office management, facilities management, and policy development.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Recruiting

    • Create and update job descriptions to reflect program needs, funding requirements, and state and federal laws.
    • Create and edit job postings for approved positions through miscellaneous job boards, posting internally and externally as needed.
    • Curate HR content for internal and external communications, including job descriptions, commercials, testimonials, social media campaigns, newsletters, and the ICON website.
    • Schedule and conduct interviews, including performing reference checks, as requested.
    • Ensure all hiring contingencies are completed before submitting candidates for approval.
    • Manage and maintain the new hire onboarding process, ensuring receipt of all new hire paperwork.

    Performance & Development

    • Evaluate and process new hires, terminations, status changes, reclassifications, salary adjustments, performance evaluations & improvement plans, and disciplinary warnings, reviewing for content and compliance with state, and federal guidelines.
    • Support employees and managers by addressing questions and concerns.
    • Advise managers on employee development, performance, and disciplinary issues, including recommending performance improvement plans as appropriate.

    Employee Relations & Engagement

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters, assisting employees with general and specific HR questions, and providing excellent customer service to all.
    • Escalate complex or sensitive employee relations matters to the office of the CEO.
    • Conduct investigations into employee complaints or concerns, provide formal and informal counseling and coaching, and advise managers on the progressive discipline policy as needed.
    • Document employee investigations, performance concerns, and disciplinary actions.
    • Design and implement innovative employee engagement initiatives to promote community, peer recognition, and a sense of belonging for ICON employees.
    • Plan and organize employee events, including holiday parties, appreciation events, and monthly/quarterly gatherings.
    • Conduct employee engagement surveys, report findings to leadership, and recommend a plan of action to address areas of opportunity.

    Legal & Compliance

    • Ensure that ICON complies with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including employee and organizational tax deductibles, etc.
    • Serve as ICON’s primary contact for all employment law matters.
    • Ensure legal compliance in all employment changes, including terminations and restructures.
    • Update and maintain ICON supplemental handbook to reflect ICON’s policies and procedures.
    • Update and maintain ICON employee HR files in both electronic and paper format, following all state, and federal guidelines.
    • Protect confidential information according to federal, state, and guidelines, and use discernment on if/when to share sensitive information.
    • Support and train employees on HR compliance topics.

    Data Management

    • Enter and maintain employee data, including new hires, job reclassifications and transfers, salary changes, PTO/benefits changes, personal information updates, document uploads, and terminations.
    • Administer and manage the time and attendance system.
    • Assist employees with questions and concerns related to account lockouts and password resets; escalate complex questions to the relevant administrator.

    Benefits & Leaves of Absence (LOAs)

    • Distribute benefits enrollment forms to new hires, tracking completion and receipt of all required documents.
    • Enter and maintain employee data in the system, including enrollments, terminations, address/job changes, beneficiaries, and related documentation.
    • Answer employee questions and concerns about group benefit programs and refer them to appropriate partner contacts.
    • Coordinate with the Finance department on payroll management to ensure all benefits enrollments, terminations, and changes are entered into the system promptly each pay period.
    • Maintain and update the employee benefits files as needed.
    • Provide advice, guidance, direction, and day-to-day support to employees on various benefits matters.
    • Perform employee benefits audits as needed.
    • Initiate the leave administration process promptly after being notified of an imminent leave.
    • Work closely with employees to ensure all relevant medical documentation is completed and submitted to the appropriate parties for timely review.
    • Protect all employee medical information, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local privacy laws.
    • Maintain appropriate contact with employees on leave and coordinate a return-to-work process.
    • Review and approve timesheets, vacation, and leave requests as needed.
    • Other HR needs as required.

    Administration

    • Coordinate office activities and operations to secure efficiency and compliance with ICON policies.
    • Manage agendas/travel arrangements/appointments etc. for required departments.
    • Manage phone calls and correspondence (e-mail, letters, packages, etc.)
    • Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures
    • Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial and other data
    • Track stocks of office supplies and place orders when necessary
    • Submit timely reports and prepare presentations/proposals as assigned
    • Assist colleagues whenever necessary

    Education, Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in a related field and demonstrated detailed knowledge of local labor, employment, and tax laws in Nigeria.
    • Minimum of 3 years, preferably 5 years as an HR generalist, including recruitment, performance management, compensation, training and development, and HR Administration.
    • Minimum 2 years of staff management experience in a fast-paced environment.
    • Preferably at least 2 years of experience with an NGO experience.
    • Knowledge and experience with payroll, benefits administration, Lagos State employee tax and deductions, compensation benchmarking, and utilizing HR metrics to inform decision-making.
    • Strong training and development skills; experience conducting Training of the Trainer
    • Experience and knowledge of recruitment process and practice, including marketing and branding
    • Proven ability to plan long-term, organize priorities and work under administrative and programmatic pressures with detail orientation and professional grace.
    • Proven sense of professional discretion, integrity, and ability to manage complex HR situations diplomatically and to effective resolution.

    Head of Marketing and Communications

    • The Head of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for the brand positioning of ICON’s core mission, reputation, and strengths, working with management to launch and lead a new digital storytelling framework to amplify and visualize ICON’s programming in Economic Development, Education, Advocacy, and Arts and Culture.
    • The HMC will use a variety of effective communications campaigns and strategies working closely with the management team, program managers, contractors, and other stakeholders on a range of strategic projects, and leading media relations and thought leadership strategy, external and internal communications, digital communications, social media, brand strategy, and marketing campaigns.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    Marketing and Communications

    • Develop a digital visibility framework to tell visual stories of our communities, social issues, and programming documentation.
    • Work with Senior Management to develop and implement comprehensive, resultsoriented annual Marketing and Communications Plan.
    • Develop targeted strategies to reach a broad range of stakeholders and community/industry leadership to support the organization’s vision.
    • Develop and manage performance measures that align with ICON’s key strategic goals and annual operational objectives as well as measure the effectiveness of marketing activities.
    • Manage the allocation of the annual Marketing Budget.
    • Work with the leadership team to support the development of organizational narrative and key messages as needed.

    • Develop engaging content for various digital newsletters and e-blasts.

    Resource Development

    • Develop exceptional written communications for all marketing needs, adhering to all required communication guidelines and ethics.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to create and upkeep marketing and communications materials for multiple programming and other needs, encompassing both printed and digital collateral. This may include contents that are required for designing graphics, brochures, flyers, mailers, and presentation materials.
    • Facilitate the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communication campaigns across various channels, such as digital platforms, print media, and social media.
    • Support, maintain, and update documents, forms, and internal communications.
    • Manage writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting of ICON annual report content.
    • Provide proofreading and editing support to other departments as may be required.
    • Social Media and Website Management
    • Develop an annual social media marketing plan.
    • Incorporate a digital storytelling plan into all programming frameworks and facilitate the process for content development, video production, and evaluative storytelling.
    • Develop and implement a social media and outreach strategy to drive traffic.
    • Maintain current and effective website content, ensuring it supports the user journey with calls to action for each stakeholder.
    • Analyze website and social media metrics to help set goals and measure against established benchmarks and effectiveness metrics.
    • Monitor ICON’s multiple social media channels for engagement with commenters and shares, ensuring timely content posting, scheduling, and sharing posts, promptly responding to inquiries and comments, and gathering engagement metrics.
    • Leadership/Contractors Management
    • Research, identify, and hire high-standard contractors for required video documentary production, and programs photography collection.
    • Establish and maintain an organization-wide selection guideline for hiring and retaining contractors.
    • Develop and manage a regularly updated contractors’ database.
    • Develop an ICON best practice framework for all media production.
    • Develop an ICON media archive to categorize and store all media production across programming.
    • Provide supervision, training, and evaluation of all hired contractors, pushing for highstandard delivery and quality of production.
    • Participate in strategic planning efforts.
    • Website Management
    • Manage ICON websites, maintaining content accuracy, regularly updating and refreshing content, and ensuring the overall integrity of the websites.
    • Perform periodic audits of existing website content and links, identifying and reporting any issues to the website management agency.
    • Upload provided written and graphic content to multiple websites, replacing outdated material as needed.
    • Conduct occasional content research to gather relevant information for website updates and enhancements.

    Education, Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3-10 years of experience in digital marketing roles, with a focus on brand management and communications.
    • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies in multisectoral industries.
    • Strong knowledge and technological ability to work on a variety of digital marketing tools, platforms, and techniques.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts and strategies effectively.

    Program Manager: Arts and Culture

    • The Program Manager, Arts and Culture, is an avid reader, a creative writer, and a lover of arts and culture with current knowledge and active engagement with industry trends and market news in Nigeria, and internationally (a plus).
    • The right candidate would be highly skilled in arts and cultural content development (writing is a critical required skill for this role), arts and cultural grant research and writing, partnership development, fundraising and literary event programming and management.

    Responsibilities

    Lagos Artists and Authors Talk (LAAT) (70%)

    • Manage the planning and implementing of the annual Lagos Artists and Authors Talk (LAAT) programming (formerly called Authors Talk).
    • Develop the workplan and workstream of LAAT and manage the schedule of the annual author and artist's lineup, developing relevant and engaging topics and panels, performing events, and exhibitions.
    • Work closely with publishers to feature the year’s most compelling books at LAAT.
    • Develop new partnerships and leverage on existing partnership to enhance LAAT overall delivery.
    • Create engaging programming that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
    • Oversee the master grid of author and artist invitations, submissions, declines, and rejections.
    • Oversee LAAT author and artist's schedule information, ensuring lineup and schedule information is published by the target deadline.
    • Oversee fundraising, including grant writing and identification of new sponsorship relations to achieve the department annual budget.
    • Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, patrons and partners.
    • Manage LAAT's volunteers' onboarding and assignments.

    Special Projects (20%)

    • Lead the research and development of special projects.
    • Lead the planning, managing, and implementing of special projects.
    • Develop special projects workplans and workstreams, and work with other required
    • departments for program delivery, tracking and impact reporting.
    • Manage all vendors and contractors assigned to a special project.

    Director, Research and Data Analysis

    • ICON is looking to bring on a Director of Research and Data Analysis to help advance our research agenda focused on advancing evidence and action to drive social impact.
    • The Director, Research and Data Analysis is responsible for developing and executing multi-thematic research and data analysis activities of ICON Community Development (CD) and Arts and Culture (AC) programs.
    • The successful candidate will have a deep fluency in sector-based research with a demonstrated effectiveness in designing and delivering research products that advance program design and delivery, resource collection and sharing.
    • The Director will have experience with both mixed-methods research and community-based initiatives.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Conceptualize and oversee development (research questions and design methodologies) and execution of original quantitative and qualitative research projects (internal and external) to advance ICON’s strategic plan.
    • Assess research needs and opportunities that advance the interests of ICON communities and deliver research products that enhance program delivery in Economic Development, Education, Advocacy and Arts and Culture.
    • Build and manage strategic research partnerships that advance organizational aims.
    • Create effective research education, engagement, and entrepreneurial dissemination strategies that appeal to diverse stakeholders and propel action (data to action).
    • Present to/engage with external audiences on sector issues, trends, opportunities to build a sustainable and inclusive communities.
    • Lead national community engagement and participatory action research conversations
    • Center equity principles when engaging practitioners and communities and co- creating measurement, learning, and evaluation tools throughout all project phases
    • Elevates and centers the values, voices, and experiences of those most impacted by research and program work.
    • Provide resource, case studies and other required materials for proposal development, program design and implementation and sustainability plans.
    • Identifies and analyzes how institutional, systemic, structural, or historical factors contribute to disparities and examines strategies to improve outcomes of historically marginalized communities.
    • Ensure ICON meets its strategic goals in research as articulated in the mission and strategic framework.
    • Assists in proposal writing, fund development, and developing an internal project evaluation structure.
    • Conducts participatory action research (PAR)
    • Trains partners in PAR methods and practices
    • Collects data and other documentation of internal and external projects and creates reports for the board of directors, funders, and other partners.
    • Participates in collaborative activities and projects, including public events, workshops, and trainings.
    • Lead and manage research teams, which may include community volunteers, interns, fellows, and community partner groups.
    • Establish and retains a variety of research partnerships with external agencies.
    • Manage multiple contracts at once for research projects, including earned income and fees for service agreements, grants, and other research partnership-related contracts.
    • Create and builds on PAR training curricula based on best practices in research, community engagement, and partnerships.
    • Maintain partnerships with various constituents, including funders, nonprofit leadership, community members, and others.
    • Responsible for recruiting research participants, conducting interviews, focus groups, and surveys.
    • Supervise community volunteers and interns as needed
    • Compile and analyze data and background research.
    • Produce literature reviews, conducting fieldwork (such as interviews), managing data, and using programs for data processing and analysis
    • Produce tables, charts, and maps.
    • Contribute to and/or edit various publications for different audiences, including research reports, briefs, blogs, and other deliverables.
    • Analyze data and identify actionable insights and develop materials such as publications, slide decks, and blog posts to communicate insights to board of directors, donors and stakeholders.
    • Work on administrative tasks such as tracking project timelines, project reporting, taking and summarizing meeting minutes, and other tasks as assigned.

    Education and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree with equivalent experience, preferably in the field of nonprofit management, social sector leadership, public policy, social work, sociology, data science, mathematics, statistics, or related disciplines, and possess 3-6 years of work experience.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Capacity to conduct library and internet research quickly and with strong critical thinking analysis.
    • High level of organization and motivation, creativity, and self-confidence; we seek individuals who can work effectively, independently, and simultaneously on multiple projects
    • Outcome-driven focus with a strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
    • Proficiency with publication, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics software.
    • Experience conducting research cleaning and analysis tasks using statistical software
    • Write and publicize in-depth analytical research reports, briefing papers, letters, news releases, op-eds, and/or submissions.

    COMPENSATION AND HOURS

    • This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position.
