    Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services Officer (GBV/MHPSS Officer)

    Job summary

    The MHPSS Officer is responsible for delivering on-site and remote Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS), including responding to incidents of gender-based violence (GBV) in a timely, survivor-centred, and caring manner. The Counsellor works with GBV survivors, women engaging in survival sex, community partners, service providers and local authorities to prevent gender-based violence incidents from happening and to ensure that GBV survivors know which services are available to them and how to access them. In addition, the counsellor will provide on-site and remote individual and group support to other forcibly displaced people and vulnerable migrants to have improved mental health and psychosocial well-being helping them to access their rights. This goal may be achieved through three key outcome areas: (1) Family, community, and social structures; (2) promoting the psychosocial well-being and resilience of individuals and communities to develop healthy coping mechanisms; and (3) Individuals in need of mental health and psychosocial support utilize appropriate specific care, including referrals to specialty care when necessary.

    Essential Functions:

    • Provide individual and group counselling services and other short term therapeutic services to beneficiaries referred by COCIN/CBM officers and other stakeholders;
    • Conduct psychosocial counselling to GBV survivors and other refugees experiencing other forms of trauma using highest levels of confidentiality and professional ethics and etiquette;
    • Implement activities that are sensitive to the needs of vulnerable individuals. This includes, among others, psychological first aid, support, or self-help groups and other recreational and/or social support activities for the population;
    • Together with the Project team plan workshops, trainings and capacity building for community case workers, leaders, and service providers;
    • Contribute to the development of a reliable referral system with service providers in Nigeria including governmental institutions, civil society, and the private sector;
    • Collaborate closely with the GBV and Protection Officer to provide outreach to encourage survivors to come forward and seek assistance;
    • Provides accurate, timely and consistent analysis and reporting to Program Manager on program activities;
    • Prepare and maintain a tracker for all activities conducted;
    • Ensure constant and accurate upkeep of data (physical and electronic) to reflect the status of persons of concern by checking that all data fields are filled-in properly; manages and updates beneficiary files, as necessary;
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications & requirements:

    • University degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, or related field with at least 2 years of experience in counselling, supporting survivors and/or social work experience;
    • Familiarity with MHPSS and GBV guidelines;
    • Extensive knowledge of group facilitation techniques and experience;
    • Demonstrated understanding of gender and gender equality;
    • Ability to develop work plans, meet deadlines and capture program progress for donor reports;
    • Strong motivation to humanitarian work, service-oriented mindset, and sense of accountability to the populations COCIN serves;
    • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically;
    • Sense of initiative and capacity to work autonomously;
    • Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills;
    • Must be a team player and able to work with a range of diverse, vulnerable populations understanding of community-based approach required;
    • The candidate should have keen awareness and good knowledge of psychosocial issues and the complexities of working on these issues with a refugee, returnee, and/or host community population;
    • Ability to uphold the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

    Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (M & E Officer)

    Job summary

    The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer is responsible for observing and ensuring high quality and timely inputs, and for ensuring that a project maintains its strategic vision and that its activities result in the achievement of its intended outputs in a cost effective and timely manner. This position will support project performance, report submission and related activities.

    Essential Functions:

    • Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection and evaluation procedures;
    • Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project output;
    • Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results;
    • Monitor the sustainability of the project's results;
    • Conduct capacity assessment on existing monitoring and evaluation system
    • Monitor indicators and a monitoring strategy for the project;
    • Recommend further improvement of the logical framework;
    • Monitor monitoring and impact indicator for the project success;
    • Provide inputs, information and statistics for monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual and other reports to Project Management Team
    • Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist the Project Manager in preparing relevant reports;
    • Support monitoring and evaluation of the effects and impact of the project;
    • Participate in program performance review and Continuous Quality Improvements;
    • Provide feedback to the Project Manager on project strategies and activities;
    • Suggest strategies to the Project Management for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks;
    • Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual progress on all project activities;
    • Measurable Outputs and Performance Indicators;
    • Perform other duties as required;

    Qualifications & requirements:

    • Bachelor Degree in Social Science or related field;
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation;
    • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports;
    • Proven ICT skills, especially in the development of MIS software using database software;
    • Expertise in analysing data using statistical software;
    • Strong training & facilitation skills;
    • Ability to multitask;
    • In-depth knowledge on MIS, M&E and development issues;
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
    • Ability to respond positively to critical feedback and different points of view.

    Finance Officer

    Job Summary

    Working in the Finance Department under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will assist the Field Office to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial and accounting records and will have primary responsibility for managing the monthly accounting cycle and the routine daily accounting tasks and payments. The Finance Officer will assist in reviewing and analysing records, reports, and management practices to ensure adequate internal controls are in place to mitigate risks in compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements and COCIN policies and procedures.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Assist the Finance Manager to enhance the efficiency of the existing control system and ensure any identified compliance gaps are corrected;
    • Enter transactions into the accounting software accurately;
    • Ensure the accuracy of all navigator recorded transactions by following navigator entry procedures and by referencing coding against standard chart of accounts and coded budgets;
    • Prepare and reconcile the banks and cash accounts;
    • Ensure compliance with GAAPs standard accounting practices;
    • Daily print out of payment vouchers for onward attachment to supporting documents by the archivist;
    • Ensure proper archiving of all documents;
    • Give maximum support towards successful month and year end process;
    • Always imbibe the culture of audit readiness;
    • Make sure all taxes (PAYE, withholding taxes, VAT and other taxes) are withheld and paid accordingly;
    • Assist in the training of support and program staff on Finance related matters and give any financial operational support needed;
    • Submit accurate and timely financial reports to Coordinating Office in Maiduguri on a weekly and monthly basis and follow up with other departments for any corrective actions required;
    • Ensure document safeguarding and proper archiving;
    • Prepare Voucher Reconciliation Activities Reports on a weekly and monthly basis;
    • Be adaptable and flexible to take new tasks and new assignments as requested from time to time;
    • Any other duties assign by the supervisor or designee.

    Educations and Experience

    • A University Degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent is required;
    • 2 - 5 years of finance and accounting experience in developmental and humanitarian sector is preferred.
    • Computer skills including the use of QuickBooks and or Sage;
    • Demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software;
    • Advanced computer skills in MS Office Packages, particularly Excel;
    • Prior management experience and strong organizational skills;
    • Excellent oral and written English skills.

    Project Manager FSL/WASH

    Job summary

    The Program Manager will manage, coordinate, and monitor project activities and relationships with other project stakeholders to assist the achievement of the FSL/WASH projects’ objectives advancing COCIN’s work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your project management skills and knowledge of the program area will ensure that the COCIN delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of this project.

    Job responsibilities:

    Programming

    • Ensure the smooth implementation of Food Security and Livelihoods/WASH projects through support to the project team, ensuring adherence to COCIN and donor guidelines and standards;
    • Support the team to contribute to achieving results as set out in CBM/BMZ Transitional Development Assistance strategies;
    • Support technical, budget management, monitoring and reporting activities through the project cycle - start-up, implementation, and close-out - in line with COCIN program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices;
    • Ensure interventions that guarantee resilient, healthy, productive, and cohesive households and communities recover more readily from shocks and stressors, advancing steadily along a pathway to prosperity;
    • Ensure learning properly accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle;
    • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities following MEAL Policy;
    • Proactively identify issues, report them to the coordinator for adjustments to plans and implementation schedules;
    • Represent the organization in sectoral meetings other stakeholders, INGO working groups, relevant local partners and relevant local government and community actors for livelihoods.

    Program administration

    • Coordinate activities required for ensuring the financial, material, and human resources for the quality implementation of the project;
    • Effectively manage talent by providing coaching, strategically tailor individual development plans, and complete performance management for direct reports;
    • Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and disseminate results. Review project documentation to ensure project file is complete with all required documentation and is filed per COCIN and donor requirements.

    Education and experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in health-related fields of studies. Master’s Degree in Public Health or any relevant field would be a plus;
    • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in project management, ideally in the field of development and humanitarian intervention;
    • Previous experience with FSL/WASH activities;
    • Technical skills and experience in the areas of agriculture (climate change adaptation and mitigation, among others) agribusiness and / or economic growth, food distribution, money transfers, agriculture / livestock;
    • Staff supervision experience;
    • Experience working with stakeholders at various levels and strengthening community partnerships;
    • Ability to contribute to the development of technical proposals, a plus;
    • Experience analysing data and contributing to evaluation reports;
    • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
    • Proven excellent communication and report writing skills;
    • Experience in coaching, training, and facilitation.

    Driver (Logistics Assistant)

    Job Summary

    Driver must be able to endure long hours driving, carry out vehicle maintenance checks and interact with clients in a professional conduct. He/she should also practice safety and health regulations to protect themselves and other people on the road.
