Purpose

The Road Supervision Engineer will provide the Project with quality engineering supervision services and give expert advice on assigned projects. The  Road  Supervision Engineer will  be required  to travel  throughout the  Country of Service for supervision of road construction works to ensure the interests of the company and the client are adhered to by and large.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out monitoring of the assigned road project progress.
• Ensure the proper programming, recording, measurement and accounting of the works by means of contemporary management and measurement techniques.
• Supervise the works and approve all materials, construction techniques and workmanship on a day-to-day basis.
• Prepare and submit a detailed Daily, Weekly and Monthly Project Progress Report of all assigned projects.
• Provide Expert advice on all aspects of the works undertaken, especially regarding Project Supervision, Measurements, Contracts Monitoring and Quality Control.
• Represent the company at Project Meetings.
• Review and approve the working drawings prepared by contractors.
• Review and approve the contractor’s work programs and sources of construction materials and characteristics thereof.
• Review and approve as-built drawings
• Process contractors interim certificate

Qualifications

• BSc in Civil Engineering;
• Minimum of 10 (ten) years of progressively responsible experience in civil or road engineering;
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD or other computer based design packages;
• Registration with Relevant Professional Bodies; COREN, NSE, etc

Required Skills

• Excellent written and Communication Skills;
• Proven ability to work as part of a team;
• Proven ability to deliver assigned tasks on time;
• Ability to mentor other staff in road design engineering and AutoCAD;

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design consultation & Development, supervision of high-rise buildings and other engineering projects.
• Carry out equipment & plant selection of construction equipments for building services and other engineering projects
• Prepare tender documents including detailed drawings, specifications & BOQ
• Participate in tender analysis and negotiations
• Review and approve workshop drawing for construction.
• Construction Material Analysis / Selection, Supervision of construction and installation works.
• Liaise with other disciplines (Project managers, Architects, and other Engineers to coordinate design of Engineering projects)
• International and National codes standards- Research and Application ( BS , Eurocodes, TIA, e.t.c )
• Prepare & submit project report & progress reports as appropriate.
• Participate in risk analysis and management.
• Prepare test procedure plans, supervise test on concrete and steel and certify test results.
• Supervise commissioning programme and sign offs
• Development of construction drawing, bill of quantities,
• Draw up scope of works and drawing lists.
• Checking of drafted drawing and making necessary amendments

• Vantage PDMS 11.6 Equipment & Piping Design – Certified

Experience:

• Minimum 6 years work experience in similar position.

• Appropriate selection of equipments to include HVAC Load calculations Duct & pipe sizing.
• Tender documents preparation to include Detailed drawings & BOQ’s
• Preparation, Design & supervision of operational maintenance manual for Electromechanical equipment
• Autocard and or Revit conversant
• Experienced in plumbing design
• Review of workshop drawings for construction
• In-depth knowledge of codes and standard for designing building  mechanical services
