    Intern, Operations Engineering

    Purpose of the Internship 

    • The purpose of this internship program is to promote employability through providing an opportunity for work experience to recent graduates, and university students in career transition. It is also an avenue to help develop leadership competencies and promote the participation of women in decision-making roles in key development spaces. 

    Description of Tasks

    The intern will initiate/assist and develop the following initiatives; and the planning of regular meetings, as well as facilitate knowledge exchange. The intern will be expected to:

    Assist in the installation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical wiring, fittings, and distribution systems in office and residential facilities.

    • Support the setup and routine maintenance of solar backup power systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
    • Participate in the operation, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance of diesel generator systems, including monitoring fuel levels, running hours, and performance indicators.
    • Conduct site inspections to identify electrical faults, propose solutions, and support repair works under the supervision of senior engineers.
    • Assist in documenting installation works, maintenance activities, system configurations, and equipment performance reports.
    • Support the implementation of energy efficiency measures and best practices across all facilities.
    • Communicate findings and facilitate knowledge dissemination and exchange among various interested parties.
    • Perform any other tasks assigned by the head of department or line manager.

    • Produce written reports and white papers to share knowledge and results from the analysis performed.
    • Provide logistical and administrative support, including scheduling meetings, organizing events, and coordinating travel arrangements.
    • Support engagement efforts with donors, partners, and beneficiaries to strengthen collaboration and visibility.
    • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Program Manager and Project Managers (DMP and GTS projects) etc.

      • Oversees household staff; this involves training, assigning tasks, and providing supervision for all domestic staff. 
      • Communicates office or resident changes to staff and other relevant stakeholders. Involves residents at all times in decision-making about activity, lifestyle, and matters in the home that may affect them. E.g., the use of insecticides (bug spray) or automatic air fresheners, brand preference, etc.
      • Responsible for household purchases. Provides support for personal errands such as shopping for food, supplies, and other requested items for the household residents upon approval by the supervisor. 
      • Perform data gathering: Research, understand and gather scientific data from different eHA data sources and external data sources.
      • Perform data entry into inventory management system and the data management system.
      • Communicate findings and facilitate knowledge dissemination and exchange among various interested parties.
      • Produce written reports and white papers to share knowledge and results from the analysis performed
      • Accurately updating all data into the computer and manual recording systems.
      • Assigns and monitors the completion of daily chores and housekeeping duties. Supervises cleaning staff to ensure the cleanliness of the residence while maintaining a hospitable, safe and pleasant living environment for residents.
      • Research into new areas that can be addressed in Operations Management.
      • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

      • Assist in managing social media channels and the editorial calendar to ensure content is timely, engaging, and relevant. 
      • Conduct social media audits to ensure best practices are being used.
      • Support graphic design for social media and other digital marketing initiatives.
      • Work with the communications manager to conduct desk research, and map and identify health policy opportunities.
      • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations.
