    Head of School

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic leadership.
    • Oversee the operations and all services for the students, staff, and families at the Centre.
    • Oversee curriculum development.
    • Assure that all students receive their services.
    • Coordinate and supervise all staff.
    • Coordinate students’ assessments
    • Manage resources and budgets.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and local regulations.
    • Research and apply for grants and support for the foundation.
    • Work closely with and foster a positive and effective relationship with staff, families and the community.
    • Plan, organize and direct variety of programs, projects and activities related to special education and support programs including activities for disabilities awareness.
    • Maintain a safe and conducive learning and teaching environment.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures.
    • Must have the ability to work independently without supervision.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a University Degree
    • Have organizational skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Have teaching and/or Special Education experience.
    • Have knowledge in areas of Behavior Intervention

    Special Education Teacher

    Position Summary

    • The Special Education Teacher will plan, implement, and evaluate individualized educational programs for students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with therapists, psychologists, parents, and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure each student receives comprehensive educational and developmental support.

    Key Responsibilities

    Instruction & Curriculum

    • Develop and implement individualized educational programs based on each student’s strengths and needs.
    • Prepare engaging lesson plans aligned with students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or personalized learning goals.
    • Adapt curriculum, teaching methods, and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles.
    • Teach functional academics, communication, social-emotional skills, independent living skills, and vocational readiness where appropriate.
    • Integrate technology and assistive devices into instruction when beneficial.

    Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring

    • Conduct ongoing academic and behavioral assessments.
    • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
    • Prepare comprehensive progress reports and participate in review meetings.
    • Use assessment data to modify instructional strategies.

    Classroom Management

    • Create and maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
    • Implement positive behavior support strategies.
    • Support students in developing self-regulation, independence, and appropriate social behaviors.
    • Ensure student safety and emotional well-being at all times.

    Collaboration

    • Work collaboratively with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, other professionals, and parents.
    • Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings.
    • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress.
    • Support parent education and home-school collaboration.

    Documentation & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate educational records and student documentation.
    • Participate in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
    • Ensure compliance with school policies and professional standards.
    • Assist with admissions assessments when required.

    School Participation

    • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, workshops, and training.
    • Support extracurricular activities, school events, community outreach, and awareness programs.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the school.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children with special needs.
    • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Intellectual Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Learning Disabilities, and behavior management.
    • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

    Preferred

    • Master’s Degree in Special Education or related discipline.
    • Professional certification in Special Education.
    • Experience using structured teaching approaches such as TEACCH, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), PECS, Social Stories, visual supports, or sensory integration strategies.
    • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary therapy teams.

    School Psychologist
