    Senior ASRH Officer (Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health)

    Location: Maiduguri, Borno (With frequent travels to Monguno, Pulka and Dikwa + any other project locations)

    Job Summary

    • NCA is seeking a qualified and experienced Adolescent, Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) Senior Officer who will lead the direct implementation and monitoring of all ASRH interventions and activities established in Borno State.
    • The role of the ASRH senior Officer is to support the technical aspect of the GBV/ASRH project in Borno State and any other locations through supporting and following-up projects implementation, strengthening the referral system for adolescent care and services as well as providing capacity building for partners, health workers, program staff and community women on ASRH, referrals and gender-responsive needs of the beneficiaries/girls and boys.
    • She/he will also work closely with the GBV/ASRH manager to provide technical assistance on GBV & ASRH programming and activities, working closely with NCA local partners, health facilities and other service providers and on mainstreaming ASRH into other sector activities within NCA to ensure integrated programming.
    • Will support the GBV/ASRH manager as delegated to attend the Health cluster meetings on monthly basis and as needed and takes responsibilities for reporting of all ASRH activities to the GBV/ASRH manager. She/he will also ensure best practices and international standards are met in our services provision.

    Main Duties

    • Work closely with the GBVASRH manager to mainstream ASRH into other sectors including WASH.
    • Conduct capacity building training for partner staff on ASRH programming with support from GBV/ASRH program manager.
    • Work closely with health sector, ministry of health Borno State and other health partners to ensure close coordination of activities and best practices.
    • Conduct regular supportive field monitoring visits to partner locations and support NCA ASRH officers on activities, coordination and implementation.
    • Work closely with ASRH officers, other sectors-WASH officers to assess ASRH risk/issues and update supervisors, whereas working closely with the GBV/ASRH manager to address issues identified
    • Conduct ASRH risk mapping and GBV safety audits in project locations closely with other project teams, including senior GBV officers, senior WASH officers.
    • Provide timely feedback on the ongoing activities to supervisor and work closely to address any issue as identified during implementation.
    • Contribute to GBV ASRH strategy development ensuring ASRH component of the program is fully captured.
    • Lead the contextualization of ASRH materials developed at NCA global level – other existing materials including training materials and IEC.
    • Develop plans for effective implementation for ASRH activities.
    • Manage/supervise ASRH officers.

    Education, Certifications and experience

    • A B.Sc. in Nursing, Master’s degree in Public Health or its related field
    • 3-5 years of working experience and implementing ASRH programme in emergencies.
    • Strong experience in GBV programming an advantage
    • Strong understanding of gender equality principles
    • Strong Knowledge and skills in providing CMR is required.
    • Strong experience in supportive monitoring programs
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
    • Has excellent planning and well organized.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Fluency in English and Hausa
    • Fluency in Kanuri, Shuwa will be an added advantage
    • Good experience working in Northeast Nigeria especially knowledge working in Dikwa, Monguno, Pulka will be an added advantage.
    • Experience in implementing gender-transformative approaches to health
    • Flexible and can adapt to prevailing environment.

    Logistics Intern

    Location: Maiduguri, Borno

    Job Summary
    Objective 1:

    • Receive all PR’s, ensure it is properly filled (i.e. dates, budget lines and approvals).
    • Register all inbound PR
    • Document all RFQ process (simple, negotiated or local open tender)

    Objective 2:

    • Distribute RFQs to vendors as instructed by supervisors
    • Ensure all RFQs are properly filled with correct price calculations, dates, signature and stamp of company
    • Ensure RFQ is submitted within closing dates

    Objective 3:

    • Ensure every completed payment request have all supporting documents, i.e as per logistics checklist, before submission for signing by SLO

    Objective 4:

    • Follow up on supplies due date, and also support in receiving supplies in warehouse
    • Follow up on all maintenance works and services

    Objective 5:

    • Carry out operational functions as assigned by supervisor in warehousing or fleet management as required.

    Sanitation Officer

    Locations: Maiduguri & Monguno, Borno

    Job Summary

    • The Sanitation Officer is responsible for the implementation of the program activities related to faecal sludge study in the whole area of responsibility.
    • S/he coordinates and oversees the work of the consultant, provides updates to the WaSH Projects Manager, ensures timely and effective implementation of activities, including identification of financial, logistics and security needs in the deep field and sharing with his/her supervisor.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Objective 1: Ensure the timely and effective implementation of activities under his/her supervision (daily coordination of activities, procurement requests, financial requests)
    • Objective 2: Supervise, in coordination with the WaSH PM, the consultant and his team to be engaged to conduct the faecal sludge project feasibility study (coordination and implementation of daily tasks, support of performance review by the WaSH PM, participation on field staff meetings) and ensure they understand and use all relevant NCA protocols
    • Objective 3: Support with MEAL to effectively monitoring and reporting of the activities and expected results (relevant data collection and documentation, internal activity reporting)
    • Objective 4: Contribute to the coordination between deep field locations and main office in Maiduguri during his field visits (including regular communication with the supervisor)
    • Objective 5: If requested, represent NCA in relevant coordination mechanisms in the deep-field locations

    Roles and responsibilities (specific tasks, coordination etc)
    Related to Objective 1:

    • Based on project documentation, develop, and submit to the supervisor the monthly activity planning for the faecal sludge study project.
    • Develop and submit to the supervisor the monthly movement planning and coordinate movement requests from the consultant and his team.
    • Provide his/her supervisor with regular updates on procurement needs and supporting documents for the request to the Logistics Department about the faecal sludge study project.
    • Develop and submit advance requests related to the project activities under his responsibility and ensure timely clearance of advances.
    • Monitor the security situation and report any security or safety-issues to the Security Department.

    Related to Objective 2:

    • Develop the ToRs for the selection of the consultant and the team who will conduct the faecal sludge project feasibility study.
    • Ensure the consultant and his team are fully aware of NCA CoC and various protocols and act in line with them.
    • Ensure the consultant and his team deliver all the work required by NCA according to the agreement, the ToRs developed and in line with existing standards.
    • Provide all necessary support, including guidance, to the consultant and his team to achieve the project targets and objectives.

    Related to Objective 3:

    • Participate to relevant evaluations and needs assessments.
    • Understand and use the M&E Framework to collect relevant information on project implementation;
    • Submit progress reports on a weekly and monthly basis to his supervisor.
    • Communicate actively with the consultant, his team and beneficiaries, support field-level CRM.
    • Ensure beneficiaries are carried along throughout all the project stages.

    Related to Objective 4:

    • Respect the Security Protocols.
    • Where applicable: regularly update the Security Department on the security situation in the respective deep-field location and contribute actively to NCA’s “duty of care”;
    • Monitor gaps and humanitarian needs of targeted population and update the Supervisor regularly.
    • Ensure clear and timely communication is maintained between the consultant and the WaSH PM during field visits.
    • If requested, contribute to preparation and designing of project proposal for different donors in line with the management’s strategy.

    Related to Objective 5:

    • Ensure NCA’s representation and visibility in relevant deep-field location coordination structures;
    • Ensure NCA’s role as an active humanitarian actor.
    • Undertake any other task related to the WASH as necessary
    • Cross Cutting Issues (Gender, Protection, Environment & Other)
    • The Sanitation Officer ensures the centrality of protection, GBV mainstreaming and respect of CHS and AAP standards in all activities his/her project location.

    As such, the s/he is responsible:

    • For respecting and integration of CHS and for inclusion of all vulnerable groups in every stage of Project Cycle Management (PCM);
    • That all data in assessments, plans and reports are gender and age disaggregated
    • For support to initiatives related to the establishment of gender, age and diversity sensitive Complaint Response Mechanism;
    • Implementation of ACT Alliance Code of Conduct.

    Success factors/risks and restraints:

    • The success of the Sanitation Officer’s activities will depend very much on her ability to:

    Successfully coordinates a team on a daily basis;

    • Supports his/her Supervisor to proactively seek solutions in a challenging context;
    • Maintain high standards and quality of work;
    • Work under pressure and with a tight deadline.

    Reporting:

    • The Sanitation Officer reports to the WaSH Projects Manager, or to the person with this responsibility.
    • S/he provides regular status reports from own area of responsibilities as per NCA Nigeria internal procedures.
