    Maintenance Planning Engineer

    Purpose of the Job

    • Oversee plant maintenance planning activity and routinely monitor plant equipment

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Maintenance Planning Engineer shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
    • Responsible for short-term and long-term maintenance planning activity at the plant like shutdown 
    • Responsible for minor and major overhauls as well as other minor and routine inspections
    • Plans the maximization of the plant shutdown to minimize revenue loss 
    • Participate in the development and articulation of the annual operating plans, monthly operating plans and other operational plans
    • Formulating plant maintenance policy and strategy to serve plant objectives 
    • Ensure timely availability of materials and tools for preventive and corrective maintenance
    • Routine monitoring of plant equipment and maintaining records thereof 
    • Prepare periodic report for the attention of the Head Generation 
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head, Generation

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Higher National Diploma (HND) with COREN accredited Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) plus Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution. 
    • Relevant Professional Certifications with engineering professional bodies including full membership registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or a Related Specialized Certification.
    • Those with a postgraduate qualification in relevant discipline such as a Master’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline, Business Administration or Management from a recognized tertiary institution will have an added advantage.
    • Minimum of six (6) years substantial practical relevant post qualifying hands-on working experience in the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of major engineering works preferably with a strong bias towards power generation plants three (3) of which should be at a Supervisory Role.
    • Applicants with actual hydro power plants operations, maintenance refurbishment/overhaul, modernisation and upgrade experience will have a strong added advantage.

    Attributes and Competencies

    • Knowledge of Maintenance Management and modern maintenance management practices
    • Knowledge of material and resource requirement for power plant 
    • Knowledge of environment and safety requirements and statutory guideline 
    • Planning and organizing capability

    Machinist/Turner

    Purpose of the Job

    • Fabricating, repairing, and maintaining mechanical components and equipment in the hydropower plant.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Machinist/Turner shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
    • Operate machine tools to fabricate and repair mechanical components 
    • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to create accurate parts 
    • Ensure precise measurements using tools like Vanier calipers, micrometers screw gauge, and gauges. 
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hydropower plant equipment, including turbines, pumps, and valves
    • Fabricate or refurbish machine parts as needed to minimize downtime 
    • Assist in the alignment and assembly of mechanical components 
    • Inspect finished components to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards 
    • Perform tests on machined parts to confirm functionality and fit
    • Maintain records of machining processes and completed tasks
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery
    • Provide technical input during troubleshooting and repair processes
    • Assist in training other staff on machining and equipment handling techniques 
    • Prepare periodic report for the attention of the Head, Workshop
    • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head, Workshop

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical Engineering, Machining Technology, or a related field 

    Attributes and Competencies

    • Proficiency in operating and maintaining machine tools
    • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and precision machining 
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints 
    • Knowledge of hydropower equipment and its components 
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality

    Power Plant Operators

    Purpose of the Job

    • Monitoring the operations of the Turbine.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Power Plant Operator shall therefore be responsible, but not limited, for the following:
    • Run the operations of the turbine and associated equipment 
    • Ensure timely and up-to-date information on the operations of the turbine and other associated plant equipment 
    • Collation and interpretation of data and results on the operations of the turbine 
    • Physical inspection of equipment including turbine
    • Record and analyze data on power output, water levels, and system performance
    • Reporting major issues to the maintenance team
    • Prepare operational reports
    • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations 
    • Participate in safety drills and report any hazardous conditions or incidents 
    • Ensure safe shutdown and startup of plant systems as needed 
    • Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Head, Generation
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift-In-Charge

    Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

    • Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
    • Minimum of three (3) years substantial practical relevant post qualifying hands-on working experience preferably in the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of major engineering works.
    • Applicants with actual hydro power plants operations, maintenance refurbishment/overhaul, modernisation and upgrade experience will have a strong added advantage

    Attributes and Competencies

    • Knowledge of power generation process and safety requirements 
    • Knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to plant operation and maintenance 
    • Technical troubleshooting skills 
    • Data interpretation, report writing and presentation skills
