    Legal Manager

    Job Description

    • We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Manager to manage the company’s legal matters related to fraud recovery, police investigations, and claims handling.
    • The role involves pursuing recovery actions in fraud cases, coordinating with law enforcement agencies, and overseeing all legal aspects of the company.

    Responsibilities

    • Handle all criminal and fraud matters relating to the company, and recover financial losses for the company from employees, guarantors, insurance companies, etc.
    • Manage all legal aspects of internal and external claims (e.g., employee fraud, customer disputes, third-party liabilities).
    • Represent the company in official investigations and proceedings.
    • Analyze and review legal agreements, legislation and documents and provide advice for management upon requests.
    • Ensure (internal & external) compliance with laid down guidelines, policies and procedures; investigate issues of non-compliance as may be required.
    • Liaise with the Police and security agencies on behalf of the company in any part of Nigeria
    • Visit security agencies and attend meetings related to criminal matters, and ensure the speedy completion of criminal matters.
    • Provide legal support for the company, generally and specifically for employee service management
    • Attend court with regard to the above on behalf of the company, where necessary.

    Requirements

    • LLB. Degree with call to bar certificate plus 10 years’ proven post-call working experience as a Legal Manager.
    • Proven record in legal investigation, litigation, fraud recovery, and successfully won cases in court.
    • In-depth experience in recovering claims and handling insurance bodies.
    • Strong knowledge of corporate law and insurance practice
    • Good understanding of general and specific company & commercial law.
    • Sound leadership, collaborative, negotiation and communication skills.

    Legal Officer

    Job Description
    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

    • Draft a wide variety of legal agreements.
    • Provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters.
    • Provide internal advisory services to the business units and departments within the company.
    • Provide commercial legal support to all departmental projects and job functions.
    • Ensure the development of service-level agreements for service support and delivery.
    • Provide all such other administrative and other secretarial duties as directed by the legal counsel & company secretary.
    • Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures for the company’s internal business and activities.
    • Analyze and review legal agreements, legislation, and documents and provide advice for the management upon request.
    • Ensure (internal & external) compliance with laid-down guidelines, policies, and procedures; investigate issues of non-compliance as may be required.
    • Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
    • Review and draft contracts, agreements, and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
    • Handle all criminal and fraud matters relating to the company employees.
    • Assist in recovering financial losses for the company from employees, guarantors, insurance companies, etc.
    • Ensure investigation, arrest, and prosecution of offenders as necessary.
    • Liaise with the Police and security agencies on behalf of the company in any part of Nigeria
    • Visit security agencies and attend meetings related to criminal matters and ensure speedy completion of criminal matters.
    • Provide legal support for the company generally and specifically for employee service management
    • Attend court with regard to the above on behalf of the company where necessary.
    • Explore opportunities for new business and develop strategies to harness such potentials.
    • Provide necessary assistance for the legal manager and any other duties as may be assigned.

    Specification
    Our ideal candidate should possess the following:

    • LLB. Degree with call to bar certificate
    • At least 3 years’ proven post call working experience as a legal assistant, legal officer, or any relevant role.
    • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
    • Strong knowledge of corporate law and insurance practice; commitment and enthusiasm in the delivery of the organization's objectives.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
    • Good understanding of general and specific company and commercial law.
    • Excellent team-workability to ensure smooth operation in the Legal Unit as a whole.
    • Good research skills.
    • Up to date with the latest trends and best legal practices
