    Head, Human Resources

    Our client, one of the major players in the downstream oil and gas sector, is recruiting to fill the position

    Location: Ogbaku, Imo

    Job Summary

    • They require a Head, Human Resources, for immediate employment.
    • The preferred candidate should be based in Owerri, Imo state or willing to relocate (Accommodation may be provided).

    Position Overview

    • The Head of HR will be responsible for establishing and leading the Human Resources department in a fast-growing filling station operation. This role requires a proactive professional who will design, implement, and manage HR policies, processes, and programs that support employee performance, compliance, and business goals.

    Key Responsibilities
    HR Department Setup:

    • Design the HR department structure and processes from scratch.
    • Develop HR policies and ensure alignment with labor laws and company culture.
    • Set up employee documentation systems and databases.

    Recruitment & Staffing:

    • Define staffing needs per department.
    • Lead recruitment and selection processes for all staff categories (pump attendants to senior staff).
    • Design job descriptions and role expectations.

    Staff Onboarding & Training:

    • Develop structured onboarding and induction programs.
    • Identify training needs and implement regular training and retraining.
    • Establish SOPs and compliance training for operational roles.

    Performance Management:

    • Create a performance appraisal framework tailored to the company’s structure.
    • Lead the implementation of KPIs, performance reviews, and improvement plans.

    Employee Relations & Welfare:

    • Promote a culture of engagement, respect, and accountability.
    • Handle conflict resolution, grievance management, and disciplinary processes.
    • Implement staff welfare programs and communication channels.

    Payroll & Compliance:

    • Coordinate with Accounts for salary and benefits administration.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations (Pension, NSITF, ITF, NHF, etc.).
    • Maintain updated employee records and HR audit trails.

    Health, Safety & Operational HR:

    • Support HSE compliance and incident reporting processes.
    • Design shift schedules and workforce rotation policies.
    • Support fleet/driver personnel management if applicable.

    Key Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in HRM, Business Admin, or related field (Master’s or CIPM certification preferred).
    • Minimum of 5 years HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
    • Experience in blue-collar environments or retail/logistics/oil & gas sectors.
    • Strong knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law.
    • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, Presentation software and basic HR software.

    Remuneration
    Competitive commensurate with experience.

    Internal Auditor

    Location: Ogbaku, Imo

    Description

    Position Overview

    • The Internal Audit Personnel will be responsible for establishing and leading the audit function of the company, providing independent assurance that the organization's risk management, governance, and internal control processes are operating effectively.
    • The ideal candidate will develop and implement audit frameworks, policies, and systems tailored to the peculiarities of fuel retailing, product movement, and cash management.

    Key Responsibilities
    Department Setup & Policy Development:

    • Establish the audit department’s structure, scope, and reporting procedures.
    • Design and implement audit policies, internal control manuals, and reporting templates.
    • Define audit processes for stations, depots, logistics, and finance.

    Risk Assessment & Internal Control:

    • Conduct risk assessments across business operations.
    • Identify control gaps and implement corrective control systems.
    • Review existing practices for fraud risks, product loss, and unauthorized transactions.

    Operational Audits:

    • Audit pump sales, meter readings, cash lodgements, and product losses.
    • Investigate discrepancies in daily sales reports, tank dips, and depot loading records.
    • Perform surprise station audits and cash spot-checks.

    Financial & Compliance Audits:

    • Verify accuracy of financial records and compliance with statutory regulations.
    • Work with Finance on reconciliation of cash/bank transactions, payroll, and statutory deductions.
    • Monitor adherence to tax, pension, NHF, NSITF, and other financial obligations.

    Depot & Logistics Review:

    • Audit product lifting and delivery processes (truck reconciliation, waybills, and depot receipts).
    • Track product flow from purchase to final retail sale.

    Reporting & Advisory:

    • Prepare timely and objective audit reports with findings and recommendations.
    • Report unresolved issues and control failures to top management.
    • Propose and monitor implementation of corrective actions.

    Team Development & Training:

    • Recruit and train audit support staff as required.
    • Build audit capacity within stations and departments through training and engagement.

    Key Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ICAN/ACCA preferred).
    • 5+ years audit experience, including 2+ years in oil & gas, logistics, or retail.
    • Deep understanding of internal control frameworks and Nigerian statutory requirements.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and auditing software.
    • High personal integrity, objectivity, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and confidence.

    Remuneration: Competitive commensurate with experience
