    Peripatetic Music Tutor

    Role Overview: 

    • The successful candidates will provide high-quality music tuition to students of varying skill levels, and inspire students, nurture their musical development, and foster a love for instrumental playing within our school community.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deliver engaging and structured individual and/or small group lessons in strings, wind or brass.
    • Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
    • Prepare students for performances, ABRSM and MUSON examinations, and other musical events as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with the Music Department to support ensemble activities and school concerts.
    • Encourage and motivate students to develop their technical skills and musical expression.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
    • Communicate with parents regarding sessions and progress.
    • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
    • Contribute to musical ensembles, Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) and special school events, upon agreement with Head of Music and Senior Leadership Team.

    Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

    • Degree in Music or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
    • At least Grade 8 ABRSM (or equivalent Trinity or MUSON) in relevant instrument
    • Proven experience teaching relevant instruments to students of various ages and abilities.
    • Familiarity with a range of teaching methodologies and examination boards (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity, MUSON).
    • Experience in preparing students for performances and graded examinations.
    • A recognized teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to inspire and engage students with a passion for music.
    • Adaptability to tailor lessons according to individual student needs.
    • Patience and enthusiasm in a teaching environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

    STEM Technician

    Role Overview:

    •  The successful candidate will be fully focused on supporting the Head of STEM to ensure the possible best learning environments for our students. Duties will be varied and should focus on the STEM learning areas.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support Head of STEM to plan and prepare teaching and learning in line with the school’s curriculum expectation and policies.
    • Provide for the student’s well-being ensuring all aspects of their safety in accordance with the school’s health and safety policy, the safeguarding policy, and the wider policies and protocols.
    • Support Head of STEM to assess, track, and offer feedback on students’ achievement.
    • Liaise and assist line manager and colleagues with the efficient and effective running of the school.
    • Work with class teachers to support early identification of needs and support and deliver individual educational plans.
    • Understand and work within the school’s policies and procedures.

    Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Qualification in IT proficiency and knowledge (Microsoft, Python, Scratch, JavaScript minimum).
    • Proficiency in coding, robotics and hands-on ‘making’.
    • Proven experience with dynamic, proactive organisation and coordination.
    • Proven experience in teaching coding, design thinking and making.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Have an awareness of current trends and emerging technologies in education.
    • Be committed to international-mindedness, equity, and sustainability.

    Science Technician

    Role Overview: 

    • We are seeking a skilled and experienced Science Technician, who understands the importance of practical science education and its impact on student learning, to join our Secondary school team at Charterhouse Lagos.

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan, prepare, and set up equipment, materials, and resources for practical science lessons as requested by teachers.
    • Coordinate the distribution of materials and ensure efficient setup and clearing away of equipment after practical lessons.
    • Assist in the classroom during practical activities, including supporting demonstrations and supervising students when required.
    • Ensure all practical activities align with the curriculum and enhance students’ understanding of scientific concepts.
    • Adhere strictly to CLEAPSS (Consortium of Local Education Authorities for the Provision of Science Services) and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and appropriate Lagos State and National guidelines together with school health and safety policies for all activities.
    • Conduct risk assessments for all experiments and ensure all hazards are managed appropriately.
    • Maintain up-to-date safety data sheets for all chemicals and provide relevant guidance to staff and students on their safe handling and use.

    Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:

    • BA degree or qualification in a science-related field.
    • Relevant experience in a laboratory or educational setting, ideally in a secondary school environment.
    • Thorough knowledge of COSHH, CLEAPSS, and relevant Lagos State and National health and safety regulations.
    • Strong understanding of scientific equipment, chemicals, and their use in educational settings.
    • Familiarity with inventory management systems and laboratory organization.
    • Ability to plan and prioritise multiple requests while maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.
    • Meticulous approach to health and safety compliance, storage, and risk assessment.
    • Proactive in identifying and resolving equipment or safety issues.
    • Capacity to manage and guide other technicians or assistants effectively.
