    Job Summary

    Bookkeeper

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Mid-Level Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial records and support accurate accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining proper books of accounts, reconcilations, and ensuring financial records are up to date and compliant.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manufacturing Accountant

    Primary Purpose

    • Oversee financial aspects of lead-acid battery recycling operations: production costing, inventory valuation, asset tracking, and warehouse controls. Ensure accurate cost accounting and process compliance through Odoo ERP.

    Key Responsibilities
    Production & Cost Accounting (40%):

    • Calculate COGS for lead ingot production (scrap procurement, consumables, direct labor, processing costs)
    • Track and reconcile production yields (input batteries vs. output lead ingots, recovery rates) 
    • Monitor cost per ton processed, margin analysis, and variances between standard and actual costs
    • Maintain accurate WIP valuations for material at various processing stages
    • Prepare cost analysis for export shipments (freight forwarding, NESS fees)

    Inventory Management (30%):

    • Oversee daily Odoo transactions for raw materials (scrap batteries), consumables (soda ash, caustic soda, charcoal, sulphur), finished goods (lead ingots), by-products (crushed plastic)
    • Conduct monthly physical counts and reconcile with system records
    • Manage vendor deposits and advance payments for battery procurement
    • Reconcile weighbridge records with inventory postings

    Asset Management (20%)

    • Maintain fixed asset register (plant & machinery, vehicles, equipment, furniture)
    • Calculate and post monthly depreciation
    • Track capital expenditure approvals, asset additions, and maintenance costs
    • Ensure proper capitalization vs. expense treatment

    Process Controls (10%):

    • Implement critical control points for material movements—all transactions must flow through Odoo
    • Monitor warehouse staff compliance with posting procedures
    • Track material losses, wastage, and variances

    Requirements

    • B.Sc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • Minimum 3-5 years production accounting in LEAD or Aluminium Recycling operations
    •  Must understand smelting/refining processes
    • Experience with yield calculations and recovery rate analysis
    • Knowledge of scrap metal procurement and quality variations
    • Familiarity with by-product accounting (slag, plastic separation)
    • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) Part-Qualified minimum
    • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
    • ERP experience required (Odoo highly preferred)
    • Understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation methods (FIFO/Weighted Average)

    Key Competencies:

    • Process discipline—ability to enforce procedures, not just suggest
    • Comfort working in industrial factory environment (heat, noise, PPE requirements)
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Effective communication with technical and non-technical staff
