English / Literature Teacher at De Mould Academy

Role Summary

• The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature in the Junior/ Senior Secondary sections, promote a love for reading, writing and critical thinking, and contribute to the overall academic and moral development of students.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach English Language and Literature across JSS 1 – SSS 3 in line with the Nigerian and WAEC/NECO curriculum
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
• Set, mark and analyze tests, assignments, and examinations
• Prepare students for WAEC, NECO, and internal assessments
• Organize literary activities: debate, drama, reading clubs, essay competitions
• Maintain accurate academic records and provide timely reports to parents
• Mentor students and uphold the school’s Christian values and discipline standards
• Collaborate with other English department staff on curriculum and resources

Requirements

• Minimum of B.Ed / B.A in English Language, English Literature, or related field
• TRCN certification is an added advantage
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience in a secondary school setting
• Proven track record of preparing students for WAEC/NECO with good results
• Excellent command of spoken and written English
• Competence in ICT for teaching and record keeping
• Must be a committed Christian and able to work in both boarding and day school environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication and classroom management skills
