Our Client is seeking an Engineering Lead to oversee and deliver comprehensive engineering activities across the oil and gas value chain.
This role is within a leading upstream oil and gas operator focused on ensuring engineering deliverables meet safety, quality, schedule, budget, and regulatory standards.
The Engineering Lead will manage the full engineering lifecycle, provide technical leadership across multiple disciplines, and ensure compliance with industry and local regulations.
The position involves strategic planning, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and fostering a strong safety culture. Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive engineering strategies aligned with corporate objectives and asset development plans, managing the full engineering lifecycle from concept selection through detailed design and as-built documentation.
Provide technical leadership and oversight across multidisciplinary engineering disciplines, ensuring compliance with industry standards and Nigerian regulatory requirements while embedding asset integrity, reliability, and operability into all designs.
Lead and coordinate design reviews, technical assurance activities, and risk identification with effective mitigation strategies to uphold high-quality engineering deliverables.
Prepare and manage engineering execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations, monitoring expenditures and implementing cost control measures to optimize capital expenditures.
Oversee engineering contracting processes including contractor prequalification, bid evaluation, and management, ensuring adherence to local content regulations and contractual obligations.
Champion a strong health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) culture by enforcing compliance with HSE policies and Nigerian environmental regulations, leading risk assessments to achieve Goal Zero.
Engage and collaborate with regulators, joint-venture partners, host communities, and internal stakeholders to secure necessary permits and approvals, facilitating smooth project execution.
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams while fostering cross-functional collaboration with operations, asset management, finance, and commercial departments to enhance team capability and project outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by promoting innovation, digital tools, and best practices, conducting post-project reviews, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline preferred.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing engineering projects.
Proven expertise in managing the full engineering lifecycle: concept design, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Engineering Design (DED), and as-built documentation.
Strong knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, ISO, and compliance with Nigerian regulatory bodies including NUPRC and NMDPRA.
Demonstrated experience in engineering budget development, cost control, and financial reporting.
Proficient in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and civil/structural disciplines.
Extensive experience in risk management, technical assurance, and governance within capital projects.
Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) policies, with a track record of promoting safety culture and compliance.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including interfacing with regulators, joint-venture partners, contractors, and host communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
Experience with local content regulations and contractor management in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
Strong strategic thinking capabilities with a focus on value optimization and continuous improvement.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

The Capital Projects Delivery Lead will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, enforce compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and engage with regulators, contractors, and host communities.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized institution
Minimum of 15 years of experience in oil and gas operations, including at least 5 years in a project leadership role overseeing capital projects
Proven expertise in managing the full project lifecycle of surface facility capital projects, including pipelines, processing plants, gas conditioning, produced water treatment, and waste management systems.
