    Director (F/H) - French Alliance of Lagos - Nigeria

    Synthetic description of the position

    • Under the responsibility of the board of directors of the’Alliance francaise (AF) de Lagos and under the authority of the advisor for cooperation and cultural action (COCAC), the director works regularly with the various members of the SCAC (Service for cooperation and cultural action), particularly the cultural ATTache in Abuja and the regional audiovisual’attache in Lagos.
    • L’AF de Lagos has an annex to Ikeja.
    • The diversity of audiences and missions, in a new high level of work environment.

    Main activities

    • directorate-general of the French’Alliance de Lagos, the cultural centre of’ wings, with more than 3,000 annual registrations for French courses at all levels and 2,200 registrations for DELF DALF and TEF Canada exams. Nearly 200 cultural events a year, of all kinds and all audiences. 
    • Animation of the’ team of direction and management of the staff.
    • Management of the premises with the different teams in charge of security, parking, franchise Eric Kayser, maintenance, cleaning. This, in very regular contact with the representative of the patron who owns the building.
    • Monitoring of the pedagogy of the center in synergy with the direction of courses and exams.
    • Development and monitoring of the budget in connection with the’Alliance Board of Directors follow-up and development of patronage and public and institutional relations.Development and monitoring of’a specific cultural program, in close connection with the cultural service of the’Ambassade. 
    • Co-organization of leading Lagotian festivals like « LagosPhotos », « Ake festival » (literature), cinema. Organizing many cultural events and activities
    • Organization and monitoring of’artist residencies (4 accommodations in the’Alliance).
    • Follow-up of the’Alliance media library (including a « e-library ») collaboration within the European network EUNIC (the current director is president of the Lagos cluster).. participation and support in the network of French alliances in Nigeria

    Director (F/H) - French Alliance of Port Harcourt - Nigeria

    Synthetic description of the position

    • Under the joint authority of the cultural cooperation and action adviser, and of the Board of’administration (CA) the director of the French’Alliance is responsible for the execution of the’establishment project validated by the Board of’Alliance (association of local law).

    Main activities

    • Development, proposal and impetus of the’establishment strategy: the development of online French courses is one of the priorities for the coming years. The permanent conquest of new audiences, especially in companies, is necessary.
    • Recent partnerships with higher education institutions for the’enseignement du FLE will have to be consolidated because they constitute a major challenge for the development of the French’Alliance. Around 15 annual cultural events are held on the sidelines of weekly film screenings.
    • Participation in the preparation of the budget, the management of staff and the implementation of’analysis, monitoring and evaluation tools in liaison with the Board of’.Establishment of’ close relations with the professional networks and authorities of the country in order to promote the’ establishment : important relations with the ministries of education and culture of the’state of Rivers, France, ’ institutions of higher education, the’local association of French teachers.
    • Strong and indispensable relations with French companies (in particular with the Total group), francophones and francophiles based in the region. Relations also with the associations of’artists not to be neglected in order to’avoid conflicts with communities.
    • Preparation and delivery of regular reports of’activity to the board of directors, the French Alliance Foundation and the cultural cooperation and action advisor in 2023 number of’inscription :680 number of candidates for certifications: 918 number of hours sold: 73,500

    Diplomas or professional experience recommended to perform the duties

    • Proven experience of management of’a public or private establishment in cultural institutions, setting up of’cultural events and setting up partnerships. Knowledge or mastery of’a local language would be an asset. Knowledge of the region as well.

    Regional Audiovisual Officer (F/H) - Embassy of France in Nigeria

    Synthetic description of the position

    • Under the authority of the Councilor of cooperation and cultural’action (COCAC), you manage the policy of cooperation in the field of cultural and creative industries (ICC), audiovisual’, cinema, etc, digital cultures, media development, the fight against disinformation and music in order to promote French’ expertise.
    • In your area of competence, in close contact with the COCAC and the relevant officers, you coordinate the regional cooperation programmes and accompany the bilateral activities of the French institutes of Benin, from Cameroon, Ghana, and Togo.

    Main activities

    Your main tasks are as follows :

    • propose, in liaison with the operators concerned, a strategy of cooperation and promotion in your fields of’ expertise: cinema, animation, series, podcast, video game and e-sport, digital creation, etc, regulatory monitoring (rights of’auteur), as well as music in coordination with the regional music mission manager ;
    • design, negotiate and implement bilateral cooperation projects in these areas, within the framework of the policy defined by the ambassador and the cultural cooperation and action adviser ;
    • define and implement annual budgetary programming ;promote the cultural and creative industries by working in a’Equipe France logic with the various operators to strengthen the ICC sectors and propose actions for professionals as close as possible to the needs the ICC sectors ;
    • develop relations with local authorities, French operators (Unifrance, CNC, INA, France Media Monde, etc.) and with the beneficiaries of cooperation actions ;
    • develop professional and social networks in order to promote the visibility of cooperation ;
    • seek funding and raise funds from public and private donors ;
    • to bring out and support innovative initiatives in the highly competitive local landscape ;
    • promote French concepts in the field of audiovisual and cultural and creative industries ;train and support the emergence of new professionals in all disciplines /identify prescriptive structures ; maintain contact with local professionals and facilitate their relations with French, public and private actors ;  follow the programmes within the framework of’a budgetary envelope defined by each item (Abuja, Accra, Lome, Cotonou, Yaounde).

    Diplomas or professional experience recommended to perform the duties

    • Master level, preferably in the fields of cinema /audiovisual /digital /project management /cultural cooperation.
    • Professional experience of’at least 7 years in one of the sectors concerned. 
    • Ability to federate and work as a team on remote sites.
    • Knowledge of the specificities of public administration work, ability to report and write.
    • Experience in leading projects at’international : ICC, Image, media, heritage sector.
    • Experience in seeking funding (donors of funds and/or European Union and/or sector private...).
    • Knowledge or mastery of’a local language would be an asset. Knowledge of the region as well.

    Under the authority of COCAC (Cultural cooperation and action advisor) you will ensure : 

    • the development of student mobility and academic and scientific partnerships structured by the coordination of the CampusFrance system and the creation of new mechanisms and partnerships
