    Dairy Business Advisor

    Job Summary:

    • The Dairy Business Advisor will work under the supervision of the Senior Dairy Business Advisor. S/he will oversee mini-farms, ensuring they operate at optimal capacity and supply high-quality and quantities of fresh milk to Danone with good returns.

    Program Overview:

    • TechnoServe’s Building Precision Dairy Models in Nigeria (BuPreDMiN) aims to build a precision, sustainable, and productive local dairy value chain in Nigeria within 4 years in a way that increases the incomes, resilience, and carbon footprint of dairy farmers in Nigeria.

    Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

    Project Inception Phase

    • Lead the community entry, sensitization, mobilization, and enrolment of mini-farms owners into the Danone backward integration in the dairy value chain.
    • Ensure gender targets for the identified and enrolled mini-farmers are met.
    • Conduct mapping and profiling of mini-farms in the assigned territory.

    Project Implementation Phase

    • Execute every assigned task with the understanding, compliance to, and promotion of TechnoServe’s values, vision, and strategy.
    • Lead in expanding the mini-farms enrolment for the Danone backward integration in the dairy value chain through community entry, sensitization, and mobilization of stakeholders.
    • Ensure gender targets for the identified and enrolled mini-farms in the expansion program are met.
    • Work with the Senior Dairy Business Advisor to develop training schedules and content to address quality and quantity gaps identified at the Milk Collection Center (MCC).
    • Provide business advisory and training to mini-farm on best practices for profitability.
    • Support the MCC Operator in mobilizing mini-farms to supply Danone with high-quality and quantities of milk at designated collection points.
    • Support mini-farm owners in resolving financial inclusion gaps for seamless business transactions with Danone.
    • Maintain a healthy communication of vital information and resolve occasional discrepancies that may evolve between mini-farm owners and Danone for an efficient supply chain.
    • Facilitate the linkage of mini-farms to high-quality and cost-effective sources of inputs to drive profitability.
    • Support all monitoring and evaluation activities, surveys, reporting, and develop success stories and lessons learned.
    • Support the mini-farms in maintaining records of activities, and data collection of information required for monthly reports and analysis.
    • Perform other duties in line with the evolving needs of the program.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Agriculture, Vet. Medicine, Agribusiness, Animal Science, or other relevant fields with at least 2 years experience in capacities related to agribusiness, training, or Marketing, within the livestock value chain (cattle, goats, sheep) in western Nigeria. Alternatively, 4 years experience with a Masters' degree in similar field.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the Dairy Value Chain in Nigeria.

    Preferred Experience

    • At least 4 years of experience in capacities related to agribusiness, training, or Marketing, with at least two years of experience in the livestock value chain (cattle, goats, sheep) within western Nigeria.

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
    • Strong communication and knowledge transfer skills
    • Ability to constructively engage a broad range of stakeholders, especially community leaders and influential persons
    • Good negotiation and persuasion skills
    • Ability to develop well-written, cohesive analyses and reports
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Proven skills with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of the use of Appsheet or similar application will be an advantage.

    Project Administrator (PRiFN)

    Job Summary

    • Reporting to the Project Manager and collaborating with the Operations Manager, TechnoServe Nigeria, the Project Administrator is a dynamic and agile position that will play a key role in enabling the implementation of project operational activities in an efficient and compliant manner while ensuring the effective use of resources for maximum impact.

    Program Overview

    • TechnoServe, in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), is implementing the Promoting Rice Fortification in Nigeria (PRiFN) project to pilot and promote the uptake of fortified rice as part of the national strategy to combat micronutrients malnutrition in Nigeria following the approval of the fortification of rice with iron, zinc, folic acid, B12 and other B vitamins by the Federal Government of Nigeria. 
    • The project aims to support the production of and promote the consumption of fortified rice in Nigeria.

    Primary Functions & Responsibilities
    Travel and Logistics:

    • Assist international and domestic travel requests for all staff.
    • As assigned, process all visa and work permit requests for staff in compliance with host Country guidelines.
    • Guide other office support staff such as drivers and cleaners to regularly comply with operational standards.
    • Work with Operations Specialists of the project to coordinate paperwork and physical maintenance of fleet and logistics management.
    • Work with Operations Specialists to check vehicle routes and speed limit applications.

    Office Management:

    • Inspect and track usage of office consumables and its facilities including utilities such diesel, generator maintenance, electricity and other health and safety regulators.
    • Drafting of reports relating to the Kano offices.
    • Collection of fuel purchase invoices at the Kano offices for transmission to the finance department.
    • Executes daily purchases and manages office petty cash.
    • Provide petty cash vouchers and payment of petty cash expenses.
    • Submit monthly Petty cash fund reconciliation with all related documents.
    • Draft correspondence, including reports, processes, and other administrative documents.
    • Assumes responsibility for document filing and applies initiative in developing office administrative procedures.

    Procurement:

    • Work with Operations Specialists of the project to coordinate the projects needs and make the requests in the system
    • Follow the procurement procedures

    Basic Qualifications
    These are the requirements that any qualified candidate must meet. Typically includes:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Tertiary studies in Business Administration, Public Administration, Sociology, Office Management, or other relevant social sciences-related fields.
    • Procurement certification or prior experience is an added advantage.

    Preferred Qualification:

    • Alternatively, have at least 2 years of work experience in an administrative / office management role, with responsibilities related to procurement preferably with an international NGO.
    • Experience with donor-funded projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
    • Experience coordinating junior-level service-oriented staff and developing strong working relationships.

    Required Languages:

    • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of local language is a plus.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong sense of collegiality, integrity, resourcefulness, and accountability for results
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • An ability to think critically and elevate risks to management.
    • A creative and entrepreneurial approach to resolving problems.

    Business Advisor (PRiFN)

    Job Summary

    • The Business Advisor will work under the supervision of the project manager to provide capacity-building for rice millers, relevant government agencies and other actors in the rice value chain as well as facilitate the linkage of fortified rice produced by the supported rice millers to the school feeding and other social intervention programmes. 
    • In addition, S/he will gather market intelligence and monitor performance. It should be understood that the tasks outlined below are the key responsibilities, but the employee will be expected to perform any tasks that are necessary within the context of the evolving needs of the project.

    Program Overview

    • Assist the project manager and MEL officer in developing the project work plan, MEAL package and tools.
    • Support assessments, baseline, midterm and endline evaluation activities.
    • Identify local community trainers in the assigned communities and support the operations team during the recruitment process.

    Project Implementation Phase:

    • Support the project manager in developing training materials for the production of fortified rice and related food safety and quality control measures.
    • Handle the training of rice millers, regulatory agencies, religious and community leaders, as well as other stakeholders key to the implementation of the PRiFN project after development of a proper training design.
    • Support community sensitization drives and stakeholder engagement for the promotion of the health benefits of fortified rice.
    • Work with the PM in identifying social intervention programs and the integration of fortified rice in them.
    • Together with the project manager, identify rice millers/processors and other actors in the rice value chains who would partner with the project.
    • Work with the MEL specialist in monitoring and evaluation activities, surveys and reporting as well as developing success stories and lessons learnt.
    • Understand, respect and promote Techno Serve’s values, vision, and strategy in the implementation of assigned duties.
    • Perform other duties in line with the evolving needs of the program.
    • Prepare with the project team for donor reports.

    Basic Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Agronomy, Economics, Human Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, Public Health with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with rural communities supporting rice farmers. Alternatively, 4 years’ experience.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the rice value chain in Nigeria.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Must have strong interpersonal skills.
    • Proven skills with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Excellent communication skills.

    Knowledge, skills and abilities:

    • Ability to engage and advise a broad range of stakeholders, especially community leaders,
    • Demonstrated experience in data collection and analyses.
    • Demonstrated experience in report writing
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and train in Hausa or other languages besides English is an added advantage.

    Required Languages:

    • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
