    Credit Analyst โ€“ Anglophone West Africa (AWAF) Credit Intelligence & Analytics Unit, Credit Assessment

    About the job

    • Conduct annual and ad hoc credit reviews of the Bank’s existing obligors and their credit facilities.
    • Identify actual and potential credit weaknesses to recommend timely action for credit quality improvement.
    • Prepare comprehensive credit summary reports, highlighting key risks and recommendations for exposure strategy and credit mitigation.
    • Review transaction requests to confirm compliance with the Bank’s eligibility criteria.
    • Conduct country risk credit reviews and credit grading for the Bank’s sovereign portfolio.
    • Perform financial statement analysis, assessing credit requests and annual reviews.
    • Generate credit intelligence reports to inform lending decisions and manage risk.
    • Provide country risk review insights, banking sector risk analyses, and sector-specific credit risk assessments.
    • Support the development of credit models and risk rating tools.
    • Track borrowers’ compliance with financial covenants and other credit terms.
    • Ensure credit records are updated on Salesforce, reflecting actual transaction status.
    • Conduct preliminary credit rating assessments using relevant rating models (Financial Institutions, Corporates, Project Finance, Structured Trade Finance).
    • Liaise with the Compliance Department for KYC/CDD verification and obtaining regulatory reports.
    • Prepare management reports on credit transactions for monthly reviews, Board updates, and strategy meetings.
    • Assist in arranging credit-related meetings, taking minutes, and preparing back-to-office reports.
    • Support the tracking and reporting of Credit Assessment strategic objectives and initiatives.
    • Assist in preparing periodic updates on transactions, risk exposure, and credit performance.
    • Adhere to Afreximbank’s AML, Regulatory, and Conduct Compliance policies, including:
    • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorism Financing
    • Conflicts of Interest Policies
    • Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) Guidelines
    • Insider Trading & Market Conduct Rules
    • Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities to the Compliance Department.
    • Complete the Annual Compliance Training & Assessment.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (minimum Second-Class Honors).
    • MBA or relevant professional certification (CFA, ACCA, CPA) is an advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 1+ year of work experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, or financial analysis.
    • Understanding of credit risk principles, financial statement analysis, and loan structuring.

    Technical Skills & Knowledge:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling.
    • Strong expertise in financial risk assessment, credit intelligence, and risk modeling.
    • Familiarity with rating models, KYC/CDD requirements, and compliance processes.

    Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced financial environment.

    Manager, Trade Finance & Correspondent Banking (Commodity Trade Finance - Anglophone and West Africa)

    About the job

    • Originate and complete commodity trade finance transactions across different African markets.
    • Structure transactions, develop and negotiate term sheets, and ensure execution.
    • Review legal documents to ensure alignment with approved commercial terms.
    • Identify and structure trade finance solutions, including:
    • Letters of Credit
    • Trade Guarantees
    • Collateral-Managed Warehouse Financing
    • Receivables-Backed Financing
    • Pre-Export and Pre-Shipment Financing
    • Borrowing Base Facilities
    • Reserve-Based Lending Facilities
    • Assist in preparing and implementing the annual business development plan for the Commodity Trade Finance unit.
    • Develop tactical marketing strategies to promote Afreximbank’s trade finance solutions to corporate and financial clients.
    • Conduct roadshows, presentations, and client meetings to enhance Afreximbank’s visibility in commodity trade finance.
    • Establish relationships with commodity traders, exporters, importers, mining companies, and international financial institutions active in Africa.
    • Manage the commodity trade finance portfolio, ensuring efficient origination, credit approval, and contracting.
    • Monitor the performance of trade finance transactions, ensuring compliance with approved structures and risk policies.
    • Support the Credit Department by providing required transaction data for risk assessment.
    • Collaborate with Legal and Banking Operations to finalize transaction documentation and facilitate timely disbursement.
    • Develop strong relationships with African financial institutions, corporates, commodity traders, and government agencies.
    • Ensure adherence to Afreximbank’s AML, Regulatory, and Conduct Compliance policies, including:
    • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorism Financing
    • Conflicts of Interest & Insider Trading Policies
    • Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) Guidelines
    • Report any suspicious or non-compliant activities to the Compliance Department.
    • Complete the Annual Compliance Training & Assessment.

    Education:

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.
    • A professional certification in Banking or International Trade Finance is an advantage.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 8 years of experience in trade finance, structured trade finance, commodity finance, or corporate banking.
    • Strong knowledge of syndications, co-financing, correspondent banking, risk participation, and structured trade finance instruments.
    • Proven experience working with banks, commodity traders, and corporate clients to structure trade finance solutions.
    • Ability to originate, execute, and manage commodity trade finance transactions.

    Technical Skills & Knowledge:

    • Expertise in trade finance structuring, credit risk assessment, and financial modeling.
    • Proficiency in financial modeling, transaction structuring, and commodity-backed financing.
    • Strong understanding of international trade finance instruments, structured trade products, and risk mitigation strategies.

    Soft Skills:

    • Fluency in English is required (French, Arabic, or Portuguese is an advantage).
    • Strong relationship management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple transactions simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • High attention to detail, professionalism, and strategic thinking.
    • Willingness to travel extensively to engage with stakeholders and oversee trade finance initiatives.
