Consultancy for Enrich Documentary, Photography/Video Services at Action Against Hunger Nigeria LTD/GTE

Action Against Hunger Nigeria (ACF Nigeria) LTD/LTE is a global humanitarian and development organization combating hunger's causes and effects in over 50 countries around the world, including Nigeria. Since 2010, ACF Nigeria has addressed chronic food insecurity and malnutrition in Northeast Nigeria, responding to a severe humanitarian crisis caused by insecurity, displacement, natural disasters, climate change and economic shocks.

ACF Nigeria and its partners BOWDI, YIPDI, Save the Children (SC), and EYN  have been implementing Empowering and Nurturing Resilience, Integration, and Community Health in Nigeria (ENRICH) funded by the Department of States of the United State Government, providing most needed lifesaving and recovery assistance to vulnerable communities in Borno State, more specifically in Gubio, Magumeri, Mobbar and Kaga LGAs, improving the life of about 714,045 people for the past 24 months.

The overall objectives of the projects are:

• Health and nutrition services are improved to reduce morbidity and mortality.
• Household food security is strengthened through the provision of lean/off lean season unconditional food/cash to conflict affected populations.
• Integrated WASH response is ensured and the resilience of households, communities and systems is built to resist shock in Borno.
• Affected populations have access to improved protection services that build community resilience.

By leveraging its multi-sectoral strategies, ACF and its partners are improving food security, access to better health and nutrition services, and building resilience among vulnerable populations. ACF ultimate goal is to increase nutrition security, reduce mortality and morbidity especially amongst children under age five, and empower communities to thrive

After 20 months of implementation of this project, ACF Nigeria seeks to produce a documentary to showcase the progress and impact it has made on communities in the target locations in Borno state under the ENRICH project. To this end, ACF Nigeria is looking for an experienced service provider (journalist, video-photographer, digital documentary producer, etc.) specialized in documentary production in the communities, especially in Borno State Geographical scope coverage: Borno and Yobe States, North-East, Nigeria.

Profile of the consultant (Qualification and Experience)

• University degree in communications, journalism, arts, media, or related areas
• Formal training/specialization in photography/videography required
• At least 10 years of work experience in photography/videography in humanitarian and development setting.
• Strong photo/video editing skills and experience using Adobe CS suite
• Understanding of the humanitarian context in Nigeria/northeast and cultural sensitivities
• Experienced in producing documentaries for INGOs and other international partners – (will provide track record samples)

SCOPE OF WORK:

Specific objectives include:

• Capture high-quality photographs and videos showcasing the impact of the ENRICH project in improving life and livelihoods of communities in the Borno State.
• Focus on the thematic areas of Health and Nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
• Take photographs and videos interviews of ACF staff, partners staff, beneficiaries, and stakeholders in action, highlighting the impact of ACF's ENRICH project.
• Provide detailed captions for each photograph and videos, including date, location, names of subjects, and a brief description of the activities photographed and video.
• Produce a video documentary (both voice or transcript in English) highlighting the project’s activities and impact. The voice of beneficiaries speaking in Hausa/Kanuri must be translated and transcript made in English
• Consent MUST be administered in all processes before taking photos and/or videos of people from the communities.
