    Backend Engineer - Java

    Job Description

    • As our Back-end Engineer you are able to Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle of a product, manage and oversee projects for the company.

    What Your Day to Day Activities Will Be Like:

    • Effective utilization of Java to develop effective user interface on our product application
    • Create innovative solutions to web design issues to help make the application more visually appealing and enhance usability
    • Understanding Framework of Java and it's accompanying stack.
    • Experience with building fully responsive web applications
    • Working Knowledge with collaboration tools such as Git
    • Ensure quick Updates on our product application to make them effective

    Other responsibilities:

    • A good demonstration of object-oriented or functional analysis design skills
    • Demonstrate a good understanding of data structures, algorithms and designing for performance
    • Coding creative, operational or frontend software that helps the designated product build
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Integrate with the back- end systems and APIs
    • Creating Functional and intuitive applications and features
    • Contribute to engineering efforts from designing to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around developer and engineering productivity and velocity

    Required competency and skill-set to be a waver:

    • Our ideal candidate is an experienced executioner with at least 3 years’ experience.

    Engineering Lead, Send

    The Role: 

    • Flutterwave is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Lead to join our team and lead the development of our remittance product Send.
    • As an Engineering Lead, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction and execution of the product roadmap and will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Lead and oversee the development of our remittance product, from feature ideation to implementation, ensuring that the product is delivered on time and with the highest quality standards.
    • Develop and execute the technical strategy for the remittance product, including selecting the appropriate technologies, frameworks, and architecture, and providing technical guidance to the team to ensure the product is built efficiently and effectively.
    • Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, including recruiting, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to team members. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment and promote continuous learning and improvement among team members.
    • Drive product innovation by staying up to date with the latest industry trends, evaluating new technologies, and identifying opportunities to enhance the product's features, performance, and user experience.
    • Collaborate closely with other departments, including product management, design, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of the remittance product with other company initiatives, and to gather feedback to inform product enhancements.
    • Implement best practices for software development, including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration and deployment, to ensure that the product is of the highest quality and meets established standards.

    Required competency and skillset to be a waver

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend development and experience in leading engineering teams.
    • Proven expertise in designing and developing high-performance, scalable, and reliable applications using modern technologies and frameworks.
    • Strong experience with technologies such as Java/C#, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and databases such as MySQL or MongoDB.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and provide technical guidance to team members.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and requirements.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.

    Front End Engineer

    About the Front End Engineer Role

    • We are looking for a driven, passionate, and committed individual to join the team as we grow and expand across Africa and beyond. As a Front End Engineer, you will manage and seamlessly blend front-end and back-end web development.
    • You will also be responsible for implementing visual and interactive elements that users engage with through their web browser when using our products and the translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application.

    Required Competency and Skillset to be a Waver

    • Proven work experience in Software Engineering.
    • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the organization’s product and service offerings.

    • Knowledge of writing unit tests.
    • Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery.

    Vice Principal (VP), Venture Portfolio Management

    The Role

    • The VP, Venture Portfolio Management will be responsible for leading and overseeing the management of Flutterwave’s venture portfolio.
    • The VP will work closely with the executive leadership team to develop and execute strategic plans for optimizing the company's venture portfolio, driving value creation, and achieving financial objectives.
    • This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of venture investing, portfolio management, and strong leadership skills.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive venture portfolio management strategy in alignment with Flutterwave’s overall business objectives.
    • Lead and manage Flutterwave’s venture portfolio, including identifying, evaluating, and driving growth and implementation of opportunities.
    • Develop and deploy custom-made value creation initiatives to grow revenue and control costs..
    • Monitor and analyse the performance of the venture portfolio, identify trends, and make recommendations for optimizing value creation.
    • Identify and execute synergistic and partnership opportunities with local partners in collaboration with portfolio companies .
    • Work closely with portfolio companies to provide strategic guidance, monitor progress, and support value realization initiatives.
    • Conduct physical visits, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, investment partners, and portfolio company management teams, to drive successful outcomes and identify potential investment opportunities.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and market dynamics to inform investment strategies and portfolio management decisions.
    • Provide regular reports and updates to executive leadership and the board of directors on the performance of the venture portfolio.
    • Leverage Global Ventures reporting framework to track portfolio performance in line with agreement with management and strategy session outcomes.

    Requirements

    Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related field. MBA or other advanced Degree preferred.
    • 12-15 years of experience in venture investing, portfolio management, and value realisation.
    • Proven track record of successful venture investments and portfolio management, with a strong understanding of value creation and exit strategies.
    • Excellent analytical skills, including financial analysis, market research, and risk assessment.
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate investment opportunities.
    • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team of professionals.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to various stakeholders.
    • Strong network of contacts in the venture capital and startup ecosystem.
