    Accounting Associate, Finance

    As the Accounting Associate at Teach For All, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities: 

    30% - Accounts Receivable Management

    • Generate invoices to donors and working closely with the fundraising team  to collect the required back-up documentation
    • Draft AR invoices in financial system, and other AR processes including reconciliation of revenue across different systems
    • Liase with the fundraising team to follow up on outstanding payments

    25% - Accounts Payable and Vendor management

    • Manage AP processes including vendor setup and global payments
    • Liase with payment providers and bank to troubleshoot and resolve payment issues
    • Assit with  invoice reviews

    20% - Month/year close processes

    • Draft journal entries for intercompany transfers, bank fees, interest etc.
    • Reconcile cash receipts and disbursements to the general ledger in a timely manner
    • Assist with balance sheet accounts reconciliations
    • Draft allocation and reclassifying journal entries for the different entities as maybe required

    15% - Grantmaking Function support

    • Submit  invoices for grants to network partners and reconcile payment details across systems
    • Process foreign currency grants and reconcile ForEx impact.
    • Support the subgrant liquidation and reconciliation process across systems

    10% - Other Projects

    • Assist with Audit Preparation
    • Assist with Tax Filing
    • Other ad hoc projects

    As the ideal candidate, you will bring: 

    • 1-3 years of accounting experience and a working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
    • Experience with cloud-based software (ERP systems, expense/invoice software, Salesforce/CRM platforms, payment platforms) is a plus
    • Intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills required, comfort with Excel shortcuts and ability to operate quickly in Excel is a significant plus.
    • Experience in a global financial environment is a plus (specifically multi-currency and/or multi-entity management)
    • Non Profit accounting experience is a plus but not required
    • Audit experience is a plus but not required

    Regional Strategy & Operations Lead, Africa

    Position Summary

    • Teach For All is looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to work in the office of the Chief Network Officer and Head of Africa Region. 
    • The Regional Strategy & Operations Lead will play a key leading role in supporting the Chief Network Officer and Head of Africa Region to fully execute against agreed priorities. 
    • This role involves building strong relationships with others across the organisation as well as working strategically with key stakeholders outside of the Teach For All Network. 
    • The Regional Strategy & Operations Lead (also known as Chief of Staff or CoS) provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with superior leadership, analytical, interpersonal, and strategic written and verbal communication skills to serve as a key contributor to our mission and help shape our work in the region.
    • The right candidate is one who has a proven ability to deliver on strategy, build culture, influence results through others, build strong relationships, and make strategic decisions that drive impact.  

    Responsibilities

    Regional operations management and contribution to global systems

    • Creates the annual partnership planning process based on partner and Portfolio Leads’ needs and ensures partnership planning is effectively carried out and monitored.
    • Leads on all regional step back processes ensuring that the right mechanisms for this are in place.
    • Reviews existing regional operations and finds areas for development and growth.
    • Creates new systems and dashboards, as well as improves and maintains existing regional ones to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.
    • Project manages one-off events as needed or contributes to the organisation and planning of others. 
    • Leads on most regional follow-ups from internal meetings as well as ensuring that different workstreams and work needs are moving forward by sharing insights and knowledge where and when needed.

    Informing regional strategy

    • Sets framework for developing regional annual priorities and creates systems for tracking progress throughout the year.
    • Manages and maintains regional budgets, drafts annual budget proposals, sets up budget systems, monitors them throughout the year and advises on reallocations, changes and needs.
    • Acts as the first point of contact for others to share regional strategy, provide input and inform others about anything needed.
    • Ensures that the regional team’s professional development needs are met and that training and development opportunities are created following closely the org-wide strategies and offerings as well as by working with the People Organisation Culture team.

    Regional communications coordination

    • Communications management for all events and opportunities in the Africa region, with regular communications with CEOs, portfolio leads, the head of region, event content and logistics leads etc.
    • Drafts monthly CEO emails that are sent by Chief Network Officer and Head of Africa Region to the CEOs as well as weekly team emails ensuring that information from other teams is shared on various opportunities and that the various stakeholders stay up to date.
    • Sets up and maintains various channels of communication for regional team members and partners.
    • Organises all the logistics for virtual team retreats and relevant team calls by ensuring that 
      • An engaging agenda exists.
      • The regional team works collaboratively with other regions or individuals.
      • Each call contributes to the team’s growth and mutual sharing and learning.
    • Has regular check-ins with other CoS as well as other team members to ensure good collaboration and exchange of information.

    Regional and global knowledge creation and management 

    • Creates knowledge products coming from various strategic initiatives to inform our future strategy.
    • Co-manages bi-monthly ‘Welcome to the Network’ calls for new partner staff members.

    Regional data and information management 

    • Creates, maintains and monitors various data and information systems for the regional team and partners (like the Global Data System collection, Partner Survey, Power BI).
    • Fields all requests for resources, knowledge, connections and data sharing between the Africa region and the rest of the network due to a thorough understanding of the team's work and  how it relates to other teams' and the  organisation's work.
    • Responds to partner requests for information and proactively shares information that will be helpful.
    • Analyses data and reports trends and works with partners to collect relevant data.
    • Creates annual impact reports with key information about our regional impact which is shared with external stakeholders (information from the report is shared with CEOs, the Africa Advisory Council etc).

    Regional culture builder

    • Supports analysis of team data on organisational strength.
    • Leads all of our efforts in ensuring we are achieving our vision of excellence as a team.
    • Plans culture-building activities and celebrations on the team.
    • Co-leads on the strategy for team culture change required to adapt to the new TFAll operational model.

    Partner support 

    • Co-leads on designated partner initiatives. 
    • Tracks and ensures all systems regarding Partner Support are up-to-date.

    Special projects and other org-wide projects

    • Supports Head of Region with work related to reports, partner communications and follow-ups, various projects etc. as needed. 
    • Provides input on org-wide projects such as Knowledge Management, Salesforce etc.
    • Co-project manages the annual Africa Virtual Summer Institute impacting all regional partners. 

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 8-10 years professional experience required.
    • In depth knowledge of the education sector within international development.

    People First Community Coordinator

    As a Coordinator of this effort, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities:

    Drafting and communications (50%)

    • Managing, drafting, and updating of People First communications across the board, e.g., to all members of the Community, to the Steering Committee, to working groups, etc.
    • Drafting and disseminating People First Monthly newsletters and other outreaches to continue growing community membership.
    • Conceptualize and draft external and internal communications and other requests, such as letters and email correspondence, talking points for external panels, etc.
    • Execute action plans that support the implementation and operationalization of the People First advocacy priorities.
    • Management and maintenance of People First platforms, website, and social media profiles.

    Foundational Learning Initiative Lead

    About the Team 

    • The Network Learning Function advances knowledge and learning in the Teach For All network to make progress toward our vision by growing collective leadership to ensure that all children can fulfill their potential.  We do this by fostering communities of practice in our global network, surfacing and spreading insights through strong resources and learning experiences, building partnerships, and enabling connections for constituents to advance their own learning.[KW1] 
    • This role will sit on the Global Initiatives and Programmatic Partnerships Team which currently houses the Educational Leadership, Education in Emergencies, Climate Change, Girls Education, Inclusive Education and Future of Work Initiatives and supports the organisation with Programmatic Partnerships that support our broader work within these Initiatives and beyond.  This team may continue to grow as new Initiatives are developed.

    As the Foundational Learning Initiative Lead at Teach For All, responsibilities will include the following and/or similar activities:

    Strategic Leadership

    • Determining and executing on the strategy for developing and supporting FLN within sub-Saharan Africa and leveraging that learning to support the global network.
    • Continuously evaluating the needs of the network and impact of the Initiative in order to enhance FLN learning and growth across the network.

    Build Strategic Relationships and Partnerships

    • Cultivating external relationships with partners in the FLN space in order to support network learning and growth (with organisations such as Room to Read, Teaching at the Right Level and Funda Wunda).
    • Supporting network partners to determine how to contextualise and embed the resources these organisations have developed within Teach For All’s approach and each network partner’s context.
    • Working with the Global Grantmaking Team and other stakeholders to initiate a fund to provide grants to network partners in order to pursue partnerships and strengthen their approach to training and supporting teachers in FLN; developing the concept for the Fund, Request for Proposals, Selection Criteria and Rubric, and developing the independent Committee that will select grantees.

    Facilitating Strong Network Learning

    • Fostering learning communities among staff members, teachers, and alumni to explore the systemic challenges, latest innovations, and initiatives to advance FLN.
    • Providing access to shared learning experiences that support strong teacher development for advancing FLN.
    • Support network alumni to build an understanding of how to maximise their long-term impact to FLN.

    External Leadership

    • Serving as an internal and external point person for all things FLN (e.g. identifying panelists for speaking engagements, supporting Public Affairs in various projects).
    • Finding outlets to elevate the voices of our alumni and network partners related to FLN.
    • Supporting Teach For All’s effort to generate resources for FLN and create materials to illustrate impact.

    Global Education Technology Lead

    About the Team 

    • This role will sit on the Global Partnerships & Resources Team which currently houses our global Educational Leadership, Education in Emergencies, Climate Change, Girls Education, Inclusive Education and Future of Work Initiatives, and supports the organization with programmatic partnerships and subgrants that support our broader work within these Initiatives and beyond.   

    As the Education Technology  Lead at Teach For All, responsibilities will include the following and/or similar activities:

    Strategic Leadership

    • Determining and executing on the strategy for supporting network partners to strengthen their approach to developing leaders who maximize technology as a teaching and learning tool
    • Continuously evaluating the needs of the network and our impact in order to enhance ed tech learning and growth across the network.

    Building Strategic Relationships and Partnerships

    • Building connections between the tech industry and network teachers and alumni in marginalized and diverse communities to accelerate the leadership of network alumni in the industry.  This will include working to:
      • Forge summer internship opportunities in the ed tech sector for diverse, tech-savvy network teachers working in some of the world’s most under-resourced communities.
      • Seek opportunities that would support network partners to recruit more teachers with backgrounds in engineering and computer science  
      • Leverage the expertise of alumni leaders of successful ed tech ventures - as advisors, mentors, and connectors. 
    • Supporting network partners to forge local partnerships aimed at increasing access to connectivity in underserved areas
    • Pursuing global partnerships to help partners access what they need to ensure sustainable and affordable solutions to connect schools to the internet
    • Alongside our network partners, developing partnerships—both locally and globally—that equip schools with tablets, projectors, and other essential devices, software, and tools
    • Building an advisory committee to guide and support Teach For All’s work in ed tech.

    Facilitating Strong Network Learning

    • Fostering learning communities among staff members, teachers, and alumni to test ideas, surface insights, and learn from each other.

    Global Lead, Learning Experiences

    • As the Global Lead, you will be responsible for consulting with your team and leaders from across the organization to determine the appropriate outcomes for the Learning Experiences team to measure progress and continually improve.     Global Lead, Participant Leadership Development

    Outcomes

    Success in this role means that partner organizations have the necessary coaching, consulting, learning experiences, tools, connections, and resources to support the design and implementation of strong participant training and alumni programs that build leadership development skills toward growing student leadership and systems change. Among other things, partner staff should be able to:

    • Have a clear theory of leadership that drives the design of their training and support of participants and their support of alumni
    • Measure the growth of leadership that happens as a result of their program 
    • Have an engaged set of alumni working collectively for systems change
    • Integrate the latest insights from the Teaching as Collective Leadership work (e.g. applying the lenses of students as leaders, teachers as learners, community as power and our work as systemic to thinking about the leadership development of students, teachers and alumni)

    Success in this role will be measured by:

    • Published learning and insights based on key learning questions related training and support and alumni
    • Evidence that partner organizations are integrating leadership development into their two year program in ways that are making a measurable impact on the  leadership of teachers and alumni
    • Creation of high quality virtual and in person learning experiences that are well attended and valued by Heads of Training, teacher coaches, and Heads of Alumni
    • High participation in Heads of Training, teacher coach, and Heads of Alumni communities and satisfaction within those communities 
    • Coaching and consulting projects meeting their stated short term and medium term objectives
    • Successful internal trainings that build skills and shift mindsets

    As the Global Lead, Participant Leadership Development, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities: 

    Create Shared Resources & Insights (40%)

    Identify and create knowledge products and global insights to share across the Teach For All network.

    • Leverage 1:1 coaching conversations, community engagements and learning experiences to identify trends and distill global insights
    • Update and create key resources and knowledge products related to teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership, and system change
    • Create and implement strategy to share emerging insights across the Teach For All network, both internally and externally

    Lead Learning Experiences and Communities that Enhance the Effectiveness of Partner Training, Support & Alumni Teams (35%)

    Diagnose needs and co-develop a global strategy for content, learning experiences, resources, and tools in the following topic areas: 

    • Leadership development of network teachers via pre-service teacher training (in-person as well as virtual), informed by the latest insights from the Teaching as Collective Leadership work
    • Leadership development of students, including student voice, representation, and agency within and outside the classrooms
    • Leadership development of alumni via supporting network Heads of Alumni and partnering with other staff to offer content directly to network alumni
    • Individual and collective alumni strategies that develop alumni leadership in pursuit of system change
    • Manage communities of network Heads of Training, coaches, and Heads of Alumni
    • Closely collaborate with colleagues working on systems change; Teaching as Collective Leadership; Measurement, Evaluation, Research & Learning; and special initiatives (e.g. Girls’ Education, Student Voice, etc)

    Provide 1:1 Coaching & Consulting Support  (20%)

    Serve as a key member of a diverse set of agile project teams focused on delivering solutions for an array of needs for our partner organizations. 

    • Provide one-off consultation for partners facing challenges in teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development, enacting their theory of change

    Work with other Teach For All colleagues to collaborate on teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development.

    • Collaborate with regional staff to co-diagnose the needs of partners in the regions and determine appropriate support solutions
    • Design and host professional development calls for other staff members on the topics of teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development
    • Socialize key insights and learnings among Teach For All staff in the areas of teacher training & support, teacher & alumni leadership development

    As the ideal candidate, you will bring:  

    • Previous experience as a participant/ alumnus and a Head of Training or Head of Program from the Teach For All network - strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated strong focus on leadership development & systems change
    • Deep expertise and experience in teacher training and instructional coaching
    • Passion for growing the capacities of those who work with novice teachers and alumni and supporting their learning journeys
    • Ability to influence and motivate others outside of direct team relationships 
    • Ability to partner with a diverse range of stakeholders and across lines of power difference
    • Ability to create concrete resources and help support programs to design systems and structures to support teacher/alumni training and development

    Leadership Director, Global Leadership Accelerator

    Position Summary 

    • Teach For All is seeking a Leadership Director for our Global Leadership Accelerator. Teach For All is working to grow collective leadership so that all children can fulfill their potential.  We recently launched an exciting new initiative, a Global Leadership Accelerator, to grow the leadership of tens of thousands of leaders who are working to reimagine education around the world. This includes hundreds of staff supporting 15,000+ teachers currently in classrooms, and close to 90,000 alumni leaders, reaching millions of children in 60 countries and growing. 
    • The Global Leadership Accelerator is working to cultivate deeply conscious leaders who, grounded in a clear sense of purpose, are capable of working collectively in deep partnership with many others to disrupt inequitable systems and imagine new ways forward.  
    • You will join an entrepreneurial team that is working to accelerate the leadership and impact of thousands of incredible social entrepreneurs, teachers and other leaders around the world who are reimagining education. You will play a key role in designing transformative leadership experiences, launching new experiments and partnerships, and supporting the growth of leaders across a global network. You will report directly to the Head of the Global Leadership Accelerator.

    Responsibilities

    You would be responsible for launching new leadership programs and scaling up successful efforts, globally and also within the Africa region. Type of initiatives might include:

    • Design and execute a new leadership program for CEOs and senior leaders  to grow their leadership (e.g., navigating conflict, managing uncertainty, mobilizing movements)
    • Co-design a systems leadership fellowship to support  emerging alumni leaders in positions of influence with their systems (e.g, policy leaders, school leaders) 
    • Work with our Global  Learning Lab to grow the leadership of thousands of teachers across our network in line with our latest research from transformational classrooms
    • Scale up a global suite of online management & leadership programs in partnership with our organizational development specialists and regional teams
    • Coach senior  leaders to address limiting mindsets and beliefs
    • Contribute to our growing suite of initiatives to develop equity-centered leadership

    Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

    • Partnering with teams across the global network to diagnose leadership needs of key stakeholders (e.g., CEOs, senior leaders, managers, teachers, alumni)
    • Co-designing the vision & scope for new leadership development programs
    • Building strategic partnerships with external partners to co-create flagship programs
    • Leading project teams to manage delivery of leadership initiatives from initial idea to execution (e.g., design, communications, marketing, enrollment, delivery,  measurement) 
    • Leading workshops or coaching sessions with senior leaders
    • Capturing impact data and stories of progress so we can continually learn & adapt
    • Contributing your ideas to inform the broader strategic directions of the Accelerator

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    You will show demonstrated strengths in many of the areas below, and will also be able to provide an honest self-assessment of where you need further support.

    • Expertise in leadership development and/or organizational development with demonstrated experience in coaching others,  leading teams or working with senior leaders
    • May bring additional experience in one or more of the following areas: coaching, classroom and/ or school leadership, adult learning & development, systems leadership, community organizing, diversity, equity & inclusion, agile or adaptive leadership
    • Expertise in designing and facilitating in-person and/or online learning experiences, including community-building
    • Exceptional strategic thinking abilities with proven track record of diagnosing and solving complex problems and working with ambiguity
    • Strong relationship management skills, with ability to influence and mobilize others while working virtually and remotely; thrive in collaborative environments
    • Superior project management skills; self-starter who can manage and independently prioritize across multiple streams of work in a global, fast-paced dynamic environment
    • Demonstrates a commitment to disrupting inequitable systems and ability to work in diverse global environments 
    • Operates with entrepreneurial spirit; able to envision and seed new opportunities.
    • External presence and judgment, with experience in building partnerships.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 8-10 years professional experience required
    • Experience working and/or living in the region required
