    Welfare and Self Reliance Manager

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The successful candidate will direct and coordinate all Welfare and Self-Reliance activities and help those who are in need, willing to be worthy, and willing to work to provide for themselves and their families the temporal and spiritual necessities of life, or self-reliance. Reports to and receives strategic and operational guidance from the Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Travel throughout the assigned service area, developing and cultivating contacts and relationships of influence with employers, educational, self-employment and other community resources
    • Recruit, train, and supervise Welfare/Self-Reliance Center missionary and volunteer staff, ensuring the ongoing and successful delivery of all standard services. Provide ongoing technical training and support to ward and stake self-reliance specialists 
    • Consult with and receive direction from local priesthood leaders on self-reliance issues relating to education, employment, and self-employment
    • Regularly report progress to the Area Self-Reliance Manager and Regional Manager on stated objectives 
    • Maintain subject matter expertise on all relevant market needs and trends in order to reach stated objectives and results
    • Performs other duties as may be assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must hold a current a valid temple recommend or be worthy of one.
    • Bachelor’s Degree (Master's degree preferred) in business, sales, marketing or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ of professional experience including demonstrated success working with people from all strata of society
    • Demonstrated abilities to train large groups of people and to develop others in coaching/mentoring relationship
    • Leadership experience including application and understanding of welfare principles and the ability to properly influence Priesthood and organizational leaders
    • Knowledge of laws and government regulations pertaining to employment and labor standards
    • Must have a high level of analytical and creative skills, the ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing 
    • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work in a mobile office
    • Flexibility to work in the evenings and on the weekend when needed
    • Strong personal work ethic and customer focused
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a team member to achieve organizational and customer goals
    • Ability to work under pressure and deliver good results within prescribed timelines
    • Demonstrated ability to professionally present self through in-person interactions, verbal, and written communication
    • Must possess strongfinancial and businessacumen
    • Must be proficient in the use of computers and associated packages and MS Programs
    • Has a valid driver's license
