    WASH Project Officer - Nganzai

    Location: Nganzai LGA, Borno State, Nigeria
    Duration: 6 Months.

    We are currently seeking a qualified and committed individual to join our team as WASH Project Officer, based in Nganzai LGA.

    Job Purpose:

    Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of WASH activities including infrastructure development, hygiene promotion, and community mobilization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies of WASH needs in targeted communities and schools.
    • Supervise the design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of WASH facilities including boreholes, hand pumps, latrines, and handwashing stations.
    • Facilitate the procurement and quality control of WASH materials and supplies in collaboration with logistics.
    • Lead the training and capacity building of WASH committees, artisans, and community members on water system management, latrine maintenance, and hygiene promotion.
    • Plan and implement hygiene promotion activities including hygiene campaigns, distribution of hygiene kits, and behavior change communication (BCC).
    • Monitor water quality and ensure regular water testing in line with WHO standards.
    • Prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reports, including tracking indicators and documenting lessons learned.
    • Collaborate with other sectors (e.g., health, nutrition, protection) to ensure integrated programming and referrals.
    • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, sector standards, and GREENCODE’s safeguarding and gender policies.
    • Represent the organization in local WASH sector meetings, technical working groups, and coordination forums.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering, Water Resources Management, Public Health, or related discipline.
    • At least 2–3 years of field experience in implementing WASH programs, preferably in humanitarian or post-conflict settings.
    • Strong knowledge of SPHERE standards, WASH cluster guidelines, and national WASH policies.
    • Proven experience in infrastructure supervision and community mobilization.
    • Proficiency in using engineering tools, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent communication and team management skills.
    • Knowledge of local languages and cultural context is a strong asset.
