    Volunteer

    • Reports to: Assistant Mobile Outreach Officer

    Purpose of the job:

     Provide support to Community health Volunteer in different Projects’ Communities in implementing health interventions through Social and Behavior Change approach. The Community Health Mobilization Assistant will also work with the Community structures – community and religious leaders, women and men groups, bought group and WDC in ensuring quality delivery of health interventions in the Project locations. The role will oversee the day-to-day activity of community health volunteers ensuring compliance with SCI processes and standards while working toward reaching project targets

    Major duties and responsibilities:

    • With technical support from senior project team members, conduct community entering activities and participate in the sensitization of the community and religious leaders on the project objectives and expectations.
    • Work closely with the community leader and WGC to identify community health volunteer adhering strictly to set criteria.
    • Support the establishment/strengthening of Mother-to-Mother Support Group (MtM – SG), and deliver required technical support.
    • Coordinate the selection of lead mother and father and oversee the day-to-day activities of the support groups.
    • Support community efforts to find solution priority health issues.  
    • Support community level assessments and surveys
    • Keep track of other assessments conducted by different agencies, government in communities. 
    • Provide technical support to strengthen Ward development committee and carry out biannual meeting together with project technical team.
    • Provide regular technical supervision visit and on job coaching support to CHV and MtMSG in conducting SG sessions, reporting group activities etc.
    • Develop SG implementation work plan per LGA.
    • Support the CHV to develop monthly action plan for responsible CHV agents in reference to agreed work plan.
    • Engage community members and structures including IDP Committee, women’s association, youth and children to design participatory strategies and actions to prevent &respond priority health condition.
    • Identify gaps / challenges in service delivery and coordinate with relevant actors to ensure that safe and confidential services are made available and accessible to vulnerable women. 
    • Maintain records of activities and produce regular t including weekly updates or Situational Reports
    • Conduct an incidence trends analysis each quarter for purposes of learning, future programing, and advocacy.
    • Work closely with CHV to ensure early identification and referral to health facility.
    • In collaboration with CHV increase surveillance of infectious disease and reporting 
    • Support quality data collection of activities conducted in the Communities.
    • Promote increasing awareness of appropriate health behavior in project communities by ensuring behavior change materials are visible in supported communities and health facilities.
    • Support the development of case studies and success stories from programmed implementation.
    • Provide maternal and childcare/feeding key messages to beneficiaries. 
    • Ensure all Community Health Volunteers are familiar with their posts.
    • Transparency is ensured for distribution of essential Health commodities.
    • Coordinating with Field team and Procurement/Logistics officer on distribution of essential commodities selected PHCs and households are conducted in transparent manner in accordance with VCI s accountability procedure
    • Liaises with HoP to ensure timely submission of financial requests and reports. Monitors disbursements of funds, ensuring those activities are within approved budget lines.
    • Effective partnership and working relationships are maintained for advocacy, technical coordination,
    • information sharing and knowledge networking.
    • Exchanges information and knowledge with the sector to contribute to achievement of overall sector objectives.
    • Assists in establishing effective monitoring, knowledge database/network and reporting systems to ensure the availability of current and accurate project information/data, and contributes to the development of communication materials and strategies to support advocacy and community participation for Health; and to widen partnership with all sector stakeholder at national, state, LGA, community and household levels as well as with funding partners in order to accelerate achievement of Health related MDGs goals.
    • Keeps close contacts with sector stakeholders, including the Government, UN Agencies, international and national partners, in order to improve the ability to collect and disseminate relevant data, exchange information on program/project development and implementation. Shares knowledge, information, experience and lessons learned.

    • Actively promote PSEA (prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse) standards within Valfasam care initiative and among beneficiaries
    • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles and respect humanitarian law at all times.
    • Adhere to the Adamawa state Health Care Development Agency Code of Conduct, for health and health at all times.
    • Adhere to the national protocols at all times
    • Other assigned duties and responsibilities are effectively accomplished.
    • Performs any other duties and responsibilities assigned as appropriate to the purpose of this post, and delivers the results as required.

    Code of Conduct:

    As applicable to this position, an individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of VCI and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.

    QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES (indicates the level of proficiency required for the job.)

    EDUCATION & OTHER SKILL: Diploma in any other relevant disciplines.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • 1 years of professional work experience in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of Health project/program.
    • Experience in a project/program management function or a technical expert capacity in Health programming.
    • Field work experience.
    • Background/familiarity with health in emergency.
    • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
    • Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
    • Strong writing and presentation skills
    • LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Fluency in English and local working language of the duty station will be an asset.
